Basic Woman October 2020 Review

Crop Top, Size Large

I can foresee this shirt getting lots of love! It is slinky, soft, and perfectly oversized. Typically I go for full-length tees, but this cropped shirt falls at the perfect length; when I pair it with high-waisted jeans or a skirt, I can comfortably and confidently go about my day without showing too much skin. The stretchy bamboo fabric feels great against my skin, plus it is eco-friendly, too – win-win!

I would readily pay the subscription cost of $19.99 for this shirt alone.

Crew Socks

I was delighted when I realized that these socks were not another boring pair of black socks. The colorful speckles and stripes make for a fun, mature pattern that I can't wait to pair with my business casual work attire. They are made of sustainable bamboo, polyester, rubber (what now?), and spandex. There is no way these socks will be falling down, thanks to the stretchy bamboo and spandex.

I really like these thin socks, perfect to wear with flats and slip-on shoes; this is definitely not a winter or boot sock by any means, though. These socks should fit a US size 5-10 comfortably.

Bikini Underwear Bottoms, Size Large

I am so picky when it comes to shopping for seamless underwear. I wear scrubs to work, and if you've ever worn scrubs, you know that avoiding an underwear line while wearing any undies with cheek coverage is somewhat impossible. Well, I put these through the test, and I am thoroughly impressed by Basic Woman's version of the seamless panty! Nylon and spandex help to smooth and stretch the fabric over your skin, so you can barely see any evidence of them under my scrubs. Awesome! There is another unique feature to this pair that I was very interested in: this pair's label on the back has an indicator that fades when it is time to recycle them. Genius!

Verdict: I am genuinely impressed by Basic Woman's outstanding quality. For basics that feel luxurious and seemingly durable, I feel that $19.99 is a steal. This subscription's special "underwear expiration" label inspired me to go through my drawers and pitch A LOT of underwear, so I am also thankful to them for that push in the right direction. I am so comfortable in all three of my pieces this month, and I can't wait to see the other styles they have to offer.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Subscription renewals are typically shipped around the 10th of each month, and new subscriptions are shipped within 5-10 business days.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

If they had other underwear styles I would give it a go but until then ill have to pass. Sounds like they need more customization for a lot more women to join.

Love your skirt! If the crop top was full length I’d be more interested in this sub.

If I got a crop top, I would be pissed. No thanks. Just give me a tshirt, just like the the guy sub, with nice girl undercrackers and socks. Now, the socks, they can play with. No shows, ankle, 3/4, knee highs, crews, etc.

I am typically someone who, when picking up a shirt from a table in store, thinks “uhh, where is the rest of this??”, so I definitely know where you’re coming from!

Do customers have any control over what they get? For an example, if I would never wear a crop top, can I say that I do not wear crop tops?

Hi Susan! There aren’t any style preferences at this time on the site. As far as I know, they send the same pieces to all subscribers each month.

Haha, thank you! I am normally anti crop top, but this fell just long enough where I felt like I could pull it off 🙂

Thank you! It is my favorite skirt, ever! It is actually a LuLaRoe. They did a whole Muppets line, but this is definitely the best pattern 🙂
