Basic Man November 2020 Review

Cabernet Crew Tee, Size M - Listed Value $16.00

This is my third month reviewing Basic Man and this is the first colored shirt I've received. The last two were white and black. This is a nice dark red. As its name suggests, it looks like red wine and I like my wine like I like my shirts ... dry. Every morning, if they are not in the wash, I reach for one of these tees. I love the fit and that they are just plain shirts. They make great undershirts or go well with jeans. Within a few months, I will have enough Basic Man shirts to wear one every day.

White Ribbed Socks - Retail Value $12.00

I like the old tube sock look. Makes me want to play some basketball in short shorts. They are ribbed and have the classic stripes at the top in black. The toe and heel accents are gray. As with the socks I received in the last few months, they are a formal fit. I'm 5'9". They come up about 3/4 of the way to my knee. I could probably stretch them to my knee. These are a little more informal than the last two months. I like that.

Black Performance Boxer Briefs - Listed Value $15.00 (Similar pair in Aqua)

Last month, the shirt and socks were black and I wondered why they didn't just make the boxers black too. Well, here they are. They have some mesh for ventilation. They are made from 95% bamboo viscose and 5% elastane. I will say, after wearing Basic Man boxers for a while now, they ride up in the back a little. I'm used to a very tight-fitting boxer and these are a little loose. Not terrible, just something I noticed. The boxers are very smooth and soft. My wife likes them

Verdict: Being basic doesn't have to be a bad thing. Basic Man keeps it simple and I for one love it. Every month I wonder how I'm going to write another review about the same three items, but chances are if you're interested enough to be reading this far, it doesn't matter what I write. You or someone you know is a basic kind of guy. He needs clothes but doesn't like shopping and he just wants simple things to go with his blue jeans. I know that's me. I look forward to this subscription each month and I look forward to having a drawer full of these clothes. I could see reaching a point where you don't need any more plain shirts. You could cancel your subscription at that time and pick it back up again whenever you need fresh sets. For $20, it's a good deal.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? The monthly shipments won't always be the same items as mine - so you can order anytime.

Value Breakdown: The total value of the items is – and I suspect always will be – $43. That's a great value for a subscription that costs $19.99. The average cost of each of the 3 items is $6.66. The average value per item is $14.33. I saw on the Basic Man website that they'll give you a $9 discount if you buy a set together, but even with the discount, it is not less than the $20 for the subscription. Not to mention you have to pay for shipping via the website. So subscribers are getting a good value with this one.

It’s a good value. But I didn’t realize it was not cotton. Are all of them made of the same material.?

The shirt is 100% cotton. The socks are mostly cotton. The boxers have none. So they are all a bit different. The shirt is the best part. If you’re an easy going guy and don’t feel like shopping, this is a good subscription. Happy Thanksgiving.
