Walmart Limited Edition Halloween Beauty Box October 2020 Review

Here is the info sheet for the items included.

Revlon Colorstay 16 Hour Eyeshadow Quad in Addictive - Retail Value $5.24

This eyeshadow palette contains such neutral, wearable shades that it almost seems out of place with the rest of the box. The colors weren't the most pigmented, and the dark brown matte was slightly patchy, but overall this eyeshadow quad should work for most skin tones and has decent quality for the affordable price.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Gogo Girl, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $1.87

When I would paint my nails on my own, I always thought Sinful Colors did a good job of making affordable polishes of a decent quality. I would never wear these without a base and topcoat (the one time I did it was chip city), but this fun red polish works both for Halloween looks as well as for festive Christmas looks, too.

Milani Strobelight Liquid Highlighter in 24k Gold, 12.4 ml - Retail Value $9.99

This highlighter is such a pigmented gold that it is hard to work with – if you’re not using the gold as part of a Halloween costume (more on that below), I recommend using just a drop or two mixed into regular foundation for an added glow that is more wearable for the average makeup look. Using too much of it also meant that it took a long time to dry down, so make sure you start sparingly if you’re going to use it alone.

NYX Shout Loud Satin Lipstick in Red Haute, 0.12 oz - Retail Value $8.50

This lipstick is definitely loud and pigmented. On its own the color was a little much for me, however, I really loved how it looked once I blotted it off my lips. It left behind a really pretty red stain on my lips that was more wearable *and* more durable. Before I blotted it away I thought the lipstick was slightly waxy and sticky in feeling, but I am going to get more wear out of this than I expected by how nice the stain looked (and I got compliments on it, too).

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelette, 1 ct - Buy 20 singles for $7.49

I’m pretty sure these are the first makeup remover wipes I’ve ever used – I remember stealing my older sister's wipes out of the iconic blue plastic box. They perform well, and while I know it isn't trendy to use makeup wipes these days in the skincare community, I am human and I like having these handy.

Splat Hair Chalk in Midnight Blue, 3.5 grams - Retail Value $8.46

Oof. Oof. Okay, so the good: this is pigmented enough that it did show up on my dark brown hair, which was a feat all on its own. The bad: this got everywhere. I had blue skin, blue hands, blue anything that accidentally touched my hair. This is definitely only for a special effect look because it made my hair look greasy wherever it was applied. I definitely took time to shampoo this out, and I felt like a smurf as I saw the blue water running down my hands. All of the blue dye did rinse away with only one shampoo, so this would work well for a night of Halloween fun without more permanent dye.

Here I am with the Nyx lipstick on and the hair chalk in my hair.

Hard Candy Stroke Of Gorgeous Liquid Eyeliner in Black, 0.014 oz - Retail Value $6

I love the idea that this liquid eyeliner is made with a serum to promote healthy lash growth, but the pigment on this liner is just completely lacking. The felt-tip pen applicator gave me good control, but the lack of pigment makes this a disappointing product.

Here are the products swatched. There are two different eyeliner swatches, and that’s because the second attempt was after giving the eyeliner a good shake with no change in result.

And here is a Halloween look I did using the Milani highlighter in my leopard print.

Verdict: I have mixed feelings about this box – I definitely think the value is there in terms of the retail price of the items, but a lot of the items sent would work only for Halloween (specifically, the Splat chalk and the Milani Highlighter). Perhaps I am not adventurous enough, but I wish the highlighter sent had been slightly more wearable and less costume-y. Overall, though, for under $10 this is a fun box full of Halloween Spirit, and the value for everything except the makeup wipe adds up to $47.55, well over the promised value of $39.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this limited edition box is still available.

Value Breakdown: At $9.98 cost for this box and 7 items, you are paying approximately $1.42 per item.

My Halloween box, that was ordered on Aug 29th, showed up today, Nov 27. I have emailed them several times and just keep getting “it has been mailed and should arrive soon”.

Finally had to cancel my subscription. My sister received her box but I’ve never received mine and it’s been months. E-mailing them was a failure. Never heard from them. Probably lost $5. Oh well. Never again. They don’t really seem like they have it together.

Why am I not able to log into my account to cancel this awful subscription? I reset my password and it is still not letting me in. I call shenanigans.

My 2nd “Lips” Halloween box still hadn’t shipped 2 days before Halloween. The first one had long since arrived. I sent them an email telling them to just cancel it and refund me. I never got a response back. I emailed them again after Halloween passed, telling them Halloween was over and again to cancel it. I got a response that felt like they were ignoring what I was saying, but in the same email thread telling me it would be shipping soon. I got annoyed and told them not to attempt to ignore my emails further, and to process that refund. They answered again telling me it was too late, it had shipped (yeah, another several days later it seemed they made a point of finally sending my Halloween box, rather than just canceling the darn thing), and offered another concession. I guess I’ll see how that goes, when it shows up and if I feel better about any of it at that point.

Still have not received mine either. I ordered in plenty of time too. I sent another email this morning. I am so aggravated with Walmart Customer Service.

November 2, and my box is yet to ship! I ordered for niece’s Halloween costume. It was not last minute either. I placed my order right after this promotion began.

Do you know if Walmart is going to be releasing any Walmart Favorites boxes for the holidays like they did last year?

Great leopard look!

My box doesn’t look like it has even shipped yet (I check Informed Delivery regularly to see what is on the way). It might would have worked for Halloween (my 12 year old is dressing up like an 80s girl and several items were going to go towards that), but I can’t see myself using anything else but the eyeshadow. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like I will be getting it by Halloween, so that makes it pretty useless for me!

No sign of mine either.

Your leopard look is awesome! What a genius way to use some of those odd eye shadow colors and too bright highlighters and all those black eyeliners!

My thoughts exactly. Love it, Jessica!

mine came with a broken eye shadow and no liner. I emailed them about it and they sent me the next 5 dollar box which honestly only had one decent thing in there Some lip gel.
I am sad, I wanted the eye shadow!
I think it was pretty good but the next 5 dollar box is worth not even five. It has stuff for curly hair.

Never mind, they sent the next box, I did get a great replacement box after all!!
They had sent the fall 5 dollar one and I thought it was the replacement but they did sent the Halloween one after all with the eye makeup!
Very nice

I received my box but my eyeshadow was broken. They are sending me a replacement box. They look like good neutrals I can use anytime. I got a burgundy chalk which was a bummer. I’m a redhead with extra color in my hair so you can’t tell the difference! I hope to get blue in my replacement box. I haven’t tried the glittery lip gloss or the lipstick or the gold highlighter. I love the Polish. This box was fun even if not the most practical.

This box looked ok, but I wish they had sent it to subscribers as the quarterly $5 box. We didn’t get a summer box because they decided to revamp it, then they came out with this $10 box you have to buy?? Seems odd.

They’re sending out the Fall box right now. I got mine this week (and it was…not great). Hopefully you’ll get yours and it will be a good one!

Your look is amazing! Thank you for your review! Has anyone else not received their box yet?

That chalk is horrid. Idk.. I actually dye my whole hair dark blue or whatever strikes the mood.
I’m the type to buy a black wig and wear it to work over my blue dyed hair. It’s more fun to me to change out natural selection of wigs to work. As what is the rules? Hair just has to be a natural color.

Thank you so much for sharing. I’m waiting for my box and I’m not too excited about any of the items lol I’m probably going to try to pass them on to someone who might be better suited for them.
