Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September/October 2020 Review

Confetti Grace is always so much fun! Autumn is my favorite season, and as soon as September 1st comes around, the boys and I cover our house in fall and Halloween décor. I live for craft projects, and while I am an avid Pinterester, I sometimes get overwhelmed with the idea of gathering supplies and actually planning out some of my big ideas. This month we received everything we needed (except scissors) to create two wooden signs, two pumpkin greeting cards, and two embellished gift bags.

Along with our supplies, we received this helpful instruction sheet that details all of the steps needed to create the included projects. While the pictures are helpful, I found the written instructions very important this month. If extra assistance is needed, their website and YouTube channel are also very helpful. One of my favorite parts about this subscription is that the projects are customizable. You can choose how you want it to look, and can coordinate it with existing décor!

We also received a handsome notecard with the Confetti Grace social media and email information. Included with the business card was a small pumpkin charm attached to a silver bow. I love these charms, and can't wait to use it to add a little flair to my next craft project.

Project #1: Wooden Signs

The first project we created were these adorable wooden pumpkin signs. Check out how they turned out below!

Wooden Sign Bases

The base of our project consists of these 5.5" X 10.5" wooden bases.

Wooden Phrases

We received two differing wooden phrases; one for each sign. The first one is in all caps reading "HOME" while the other is in a script font reading "hello".

Sandpaper

While the wood is pretty smooth, we also received a small piece of sandpaper to sand away any rough edges.

Elmer's Washable School Glue Stick - Buy the purple version for $0.99

Hooray for Elmer's glue! In the past, we have received Avery glue sticks, and they just don't work that well for me. Elmer's glue glides so much smoother, goes on more evenly, and lasts longer than any other brand I have used previously, so it's what I "stick" with... haha get it?! I'm excited about this change, and hope it is a permanent one!

Jute Twine

Here we have 2 pieces of jute twine that will be used to hang up our sign. I love the rustic look this material adds to projects, and can't wait to show you how it turned out!

Checkered Fabric

I love everything about the fabrics chosen for the signs and was so pleased to see the black checkered print especially. My classroom color theme is black, white, and blue with checkered prints throughout. I couldn't wait to get crafting so I could add it to my room!

Wooden Beads and Hanging Supplies

Each sign uses eight wooden beads and two hooks for the hanger.

Gloss Modge Podge 2 oz - Retail Value $1.79

Apple Barrel Snow White Acrylic Paint 2 oz - Retail Value $2.99

Apple Barrel Burnt Umber Acrylic Paint 2 oz - Retail Value $0.50

I love receiving these big bottles of paint and glue! Not only are they used in the project, but they last forever and can be used on countless other projects.

Foam Brush and Adhesive

Tacky Glue - Buy a 4 oz bottle for $1.99

Like I said above, they send all of the necessary supplies to create the month’s projects. I found this tacky glue adheres well and holds everything right where I needed it to stay.

This project was so darn easy but really customizable and cute. To start the project, I painted the fabric with Mod Podge and let it dry. This step allows the fabric to become stiff, therefore easier to cut. While I waited for that to dry, I painted my words and beads. For my "hello" sign, I decided to use my own paint and gave the wooden words a coat of light blue paint. I did this because my classroom is that color theme, and as it is my first year in my permanent room, I need more items to make it a bit homier. I decided to paint the beads white to match and let them dry as well. Once the fabric dried, I Mod Podged the entire piece of fabric onto the wood and cut off the excess. Using the tacky glue, I adhered the wooden words onto the front of the fabric. As you can see by the photos, I decided to keep the "HOME" sign au natural, and was happy with the results! Once the fabric was adhered and dry, I used a screwdriver to attach the hardware onto the back, and tied the jute twine on either side. And that completed the projects!

Project #2 Pumpkin Cards

For our cards, we received all of the necessary supplies packaged in its individual bag for ease of use!

To create this month's pumpkin greeting cards, I glued the plaid paper to the card, and layered the green paper onto the plaid layer. Using the glue dots, I attached them to the ovals and put two of them side by side. Using another glue dot, I added the last oval into the middle to create the pumpkin. Cutting a small stem from the brown paper, I added it to the middle of the pumpkin. I made two of these pumpkins for each card, and loved the fact that the paper was reversible for a different look!

Project #3 Gift Bags

The last project we received were these brown gift bags with coordinating tissue paper.

In the card-making kit, we received a piece of orange twine, and 2 adorable tags with a colored pumpkin design on the bottom to add to all of our autumn goodness! Isn't their coordination so thoughtful?!

Didn't this month's designs turn out cute? These signs and the homemade cards are definitely right up my alley craft-wise, and turned out to be something I probably would have bought for myself at a boutique, had I come across them. And THAT'S what I look for in a crafting subscription!

I am obsessed with the black and white sign, and left for work early the next day just so I could hang it up in my room!

Verdict: Confetti Grace has always been one of my favorite subscriptions, but the last few months have been especially amazing! The curation, craft ideas, and supplies are always high quality and well-thought-out. That, paired with the fact that you can create one craft for yourself and one to give away is really unique and fun. Keep up the great work, Confetti Grace, and I can't wait to see what's in store for November!!

Confetti Grace costs $28.95 per bi-monthly delivery, so each gift package averages out to about $14.48. I feel this was a decent value for this month's box, as the signs and cards are things I would have gone out and purchased.

This subscription is at a much more reasonable price than the last craft box review I saw on here. Pretty cool! I might try this one.
