CatLadyBox October 2020 Review

CatLadyBox is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for October:

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box. This month has a black cat theme. We love black cats!

On to the items:

Squishy Black Cat Pillow - Retail Value $22.99

This is indeed very soft and squishy and I love it. Right now it is on a shelf because I don't want it to get covered with Monkey hair (it wouldn't be black anymore!). But I'll use it from time to time when I need a bit of back support on my super deep couch, and other times I'll just admire it because I think it's very cute.

Peeping Cats Shirt - Listed Value $21.99

I am living in CatLadyBox t-shirts right now since I've been working from home (which started in MARCH). So it's nice to have another one in my collection. This is soft and fits me loosely enough to be comfortable for sleeping, exercise, and everyday wear (yeah, I don't change my clothes as often as I did when I had to go into the office...). It looks good after having been washed, too. Monkey "helped" me photograph it.

Black Cat Cuff Bracelet - Retail Value $19.99

I often have trouble with cuff bracelets because I have a tiny wrist for an adult, but this one has a narrow enough opening that it stays on my wrist. There's a little give so you could wear it on a larger wrist as well (this hangs on me like a bangle, fairly loosely, but I wouldn't want to speculate about a maximum wrist size). This will be great for casual wear and should match quite a lot of shirts.

Deco Cat Ears - Listed Value $12.99

I found a couple of cat ears headbands when I cleaned out my closet recently but I don't have any with this design. This is a fun little bonus item and I might wear it to the Whole Foods just for the heck of it (I mean, no one can see my face behind my mask anyway!).

Cat-o-lantern Catnip Toy - Listed Value $4.99

This is a catnip plush toy and the boys (Madison and Monkey) both enjoyed rubbing their faces on it. It's on the small side and that's great as my cats tend to prefer smaller toys. It seems well made so I think it'll last for a long time, too.

Mewnicorn Catnip Toy - Listed Value $6.99

This toy is a kitty dressed up for Halloween. There are a lot of different parts here and they were all interesting to my cats, with the tail, in particular, standing out. I think this is adorable and creative and my cats mostly care that it is a catnip plush.

Gratuitous cat photos:

Madison is the black cat, Sneaky is the calico, and Monkey is tan and white (I was asked in another review which one was which).

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $89.94 for the October 2020 "Crazy" CatLadyBox. I feel like this was a pretty good value for the price. The shirt is immediately useful and my cats liked the toys, the cat ears will be fun for a little while, I can actually wear the bracelet (we've received cuffs in the past that were a bit too big for me), and I just love the pillow because I think it's cute. (Not everything has to be practical!)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Officially your subscription would start with November's box if you order before the cutoff on the 26th, but way back when I signed up, I was contacted to say there were a few of the current month’s boxes left over and asked if I’d like one of those. So it may be worth inquiring.

This box is always a delight. The pillow is my new favorite thing. I’m an adult woman who sleeps with a couple of stuffed animals and cute pillows :D, and this kitty one is now a proud resident of my bed. It’s unbelievably soft. I find it so comforting!!

The bangle is so cute; I like the subtle design. I have small wrists too and I was able to adjust it by gently squeezing it. (@SheriH – your daughter might try that??)

@Sharon Hines – I’m sorry you were disappointed in this box. I was able to customize my t-shirt color/design as well as the metal finish of the headband (I chose gold). Maybe this is a feature only for long-term subscribers? I have been a CatLadyBox subscriber for at least three years now, maybe four. I find their items are always super practical and good quality.

Subscribed and this box made me immediately cancel. Carnival type trinkets with a true value of maybe 20$. Did not get a Halloween t-shirt, got one of one of a cat looking out a window not like the one shown, and it was ugly. So disappointed. Would have been happy if there was at least one nice item. Huge thumbs down.

We love the Cat Lady box! My teen daughter and I fight over that cat pillow. It is so soft and squishy. She loved the car ears and the tee. They both fit perfectly. However I wish they would allow subscribers to order a small or large. My daughter is a size 0 and the bangle is too big. I suggested she were it up on her arm like Cleopatra. 😁 The cats LOVED the cat toys as usual. Two of the kittens we foster were fighting over the cat in the unicorn suit. (We volunteer with a feline rescue group, so we usually have several kittens and/or cats). Thanks for the review, Ragan.

And my friend’s black cat is named Cleopatra!

I, too, love the squishy pillow. My cats don’t appreciate it as much as I do — they keep growling at it!

I used to wear cat ears once a year, to open the door on Halloween when the neighborhood kids came up the driveway and I handed them the chocolates. Then I lost my cat ears so I’ve been wearing a witch’s hat for the candy-handing-out. It’s a nice process in our neighborhood, and I enjoy it. One or two of my black cats may sit outside in the driveway, too, to support the image and give the younger kids a thrill.

No candy handing out this year for us because of COVID. Actually I let my husband do that most years anyway because I don’t interact well with children…

Same here Ragan, I’d rather hang out with my cats! We haven’t had any trick or treaters in our neighborhood since we moved to our current home years ago. I loved this box, my kitties loved the toys, and I hope the other colors of the shirts show up in the shop past boxes section. I chose the yellow, but I’d like to get the blue too.
