BomiBag August 2020 Review
There was no information card included in the package. I sometimes find more information about the box contents on the Bomibox site, but they are not up yet for August.
Petitfree Dry Essence Foot Pack - Retail Value $3.90 (found here for $3.71)
This is interesting, it's a pair of little booties like you might get with a foot peel, but they just have a bit of moisturizing oil in them. You leave them on your feet for a little while and then remove (no peeling involved!). I guess "dry essence" refers to the lack of water and/or serum like a facial sheet mask might have. I would suggest putting a pair of socks on over these because they're made for a somewhat larger foot size than I have (I wear size 7 shoes) and the socks will help them conform to your feet better. I think these made the tops of my feet smooth although the essence didn't really absorb into the soles of my feet. These primarily have natural oils as moisturizers (e.g., sunflower oil) although there's also witch hazel and aloe.
The Saem Natural Mask Sheet Rice - Retail Value $3.90
I find rice extracts to be soothing and also moisturizing. Rice is going to have a lot of starches that absorb water. I can't find a detailed ingredient list for this one (in English, anyway) so I can't comment much further on that. The serum on this one took a little time to dry for me so I might not use it before makeup, but rather on a weekend evening. (But then I haven't worn makeup since March anyway!)
A'Pieu Blueberry Balancing Mask Sheet - Retail Value $1.19
I am pretty sure I've used this mask before, from Mask Maven (maybe?). It has a blueberry scent and also contains yogurt extract and Lactobacillus ferment (Lactobacillus species are commonly found in yogurt). I am not sure I buy all the supposed benefits of fermentation in skincare products, but this surely has a lot of amino acids. It also has blueberry extract, which contains antioxidants that *may* help reduce signs of aging by fighting free radical damage (but that is a long-term thing you won't see with only one mask use). I had a heck of a time keeping this one unfolded enough to put it on my face but we'll chalk that up to user error...
Some by Mi Safe Hand Sanitizer (90 mL) - Retail Value $6
I was actually not low on hand sanitizer because I bought a bunch of travel-sized ones from Bath and Body Works right before it all went out of stock back in March and I hardly ever leave the house, so I don't use that much. However, this is nice to have, as the scent is basically undetectable, so my husband will actually use it too. This is my current car hand sanitizer. Of course I have no way of knowing whether it is actually killing any bacteria or viruses without access to a microscope, but it does have alcohol in it (it's just not clear how much unless you can read Korean and then maybe you can tell?).
Lagom Cellus Mist Toner (20 mL x 2) - Estimated Value $7.20 (buy 150 mL for $27)
If you have read some of my other beauty box reviews, you will know I am not big on spraying anything on my face. However, I will happily spray toner on a cotton pad and apply it, so that is what I did here. This contains antioxidants although the product page makes some claims about antioxidants that don't make sense from a chemical standpoint. (However, I do like antioxidants in skincare, just not for the reasons they say.) I thought this had a relatively strong citrus scent, which makes sense after viewing the ingredients list -- there are several different citrus extracts in here. This is alcohol-free and I found it to be nice for my oily skin as the weather is getting drier in autumn, moving towards winter.
Heimish Perfume Hand Cream (30 mL) - Retail Value $8
This is a nice item to get along with the hand sanitizer. All the alcohol from sanitizing (and honestly, soap from handwashing) dries the skin of my hands out, plus the weather is getting colder and cold weather is hard on my skin anyway, and this has been helping with that. It is indeed perfumed although I like the scent, and it is nice and thick, so I have it next to my bed and have been using it at night. Shea butter is the primary moisturizing ingredient, which is probably why this is so thick.
Verdict: I calculated a total value of about $30.19 for the August BomiBag. That's about $9 over the month-to-month cost of the subscription. It was kind of a nice change of pace not to receive a cleanser this month as I have a several-month backlog of cleansers from this subscription. The hand sanitizer and hand cream were timely and the foot pack was a new type of item for me, so that was fun. I am kind of sad to see this one coming to an end although if you like the items you see here, the BomiBox Luxe, which is still available, usually has the same items plus a few more.
