KitNipBox September 2020 Review

KitNipBox has monthly themes. Around holidays, there are holiday themes, but you can never predict what it’ll be at other times. This month had a family dinner theme.

On to the items:

'R Squad Trivet Wand - Listed Value $7

There's usually a wand in KitNipBox, sometimes a finger dangler or door dangler. This month was a wand that's allegedly meant to be a trivet? At any rate, this is different from the other wands we've received (we've never gotten a wood dangler before) and has some feathers on it which makes it instantly well-liked by my crew. Wands are mostly a Sneaky toy but she was cranky the day I took pictures for this box.

Playful Pet Cutting Board Cat Scratcher - Listed Value $7

This goes well with the next item. It's a small scratcher with a hanging loop so you could put it on a doorknob, although my cats liked it just on the floor, where they mostly licked catnip off it.

Multipet Catnip Garden Catnip (0.5 oz) - Listed Value $4 (Buy 1 oz for $8.25, found here for $7.19)

I put this on the scratcher and Monkey and Sneaky immediately started eating it so I guess it is good catnip? The bag is resealable for freshness and there is enough to refresh some of the other cat scratchers I keep around, as well.

Safemade Kitty Gourmet All Nip T-Bone - Listed Value $5

This has all catnip for stuffing and a relatively soft and flexible outer covering. It's a good size for a cat to be able to toss around on his or her own. Despite the fact that this looks like a form of beef, and Sneaky is the household beef expert, this was more interesting to Monkey, who rubbed his face all over it (that's the Monkey sign of approval!).

Paws 'n Purrs Loaded Baked Potato - Listed Value $5

This is large and very lightweight. I kept forgetting it was supposed to be a baked potato instead of a big roll. It is a good size to be a small kicker or wrestler toy and so far, Monkey has gotten the most out of it. Cat subscription boxes are less of a gamble when you have multiple cats with somewhat different personalities as usually there is something for everyone.

Queen Pet Pumpkin Pie Slice - Listed Value $5

This has a stiffer felt outer covering and plush filling (with catnip too, of course). I like that the different toys this month have different textures as that is something that interests my cats a lot. This could also be used as a kicker or wrestler toy, it's actually almost as big as the potato. So far the cats have mostly done chin-rubbing on it. (Hey, they are older cats at 12, 13, and 14, so I'm excited to see interest in any toys at all.)

Vitakraft Purrsticks Chicken and Salmon Recipe - Retail Value $3.18

These have little marks on the sticks where you are supposed to break pieces off and give to your cat but I thought it was funnier to let the cats bite and chew on the sticks. All three cats got quite excited about these treats, I guess they were pretty good!

On to the kitties:

Verdict: I calculated a total value of $36.18 for the September KitNipBox. I did have to take almost all the values from the information card, but they are not so far away from values of items I find in other cat subscription boxes. I liked the variety this month, with both a wand and a scratcher as well as some plushes/stuffed toys of different sizes and textures. The theme was also pretty cute (although I can't imagine my cats having an actual family dinner, they would just steal each other's food).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your first KitNipBox will ship right after your payment processes, so you should still be able to get September's box if you sign up now.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99 including free shipping, so you are paying approximately $4.28 per item.

I’ve been getting the Happy Cat Box for a little while and I never get any of the same things you get. I am quite happy with the subscription. I think they do a good job of providing a nice variety of stuff. Floki agrees.

Nice review! Can’t help but think this theme should’ve been for November instead though
