Cocotique “Blessed Beyond Measure” September 2020 Review

Card Front for Cocotique September 2020

This month’s Cocotique box is the "Blessed Beyond Measure" edition.

Card Back for Cocotique September 2020

The back of the Cocotique info card describes all the products included in this month’s box. It also provides information on where to purchase the products online and exclusive discount codes where available.

Bonus Item: Canvas Tote

The box also comes with a reusable tote bag each month. I love this element! I think it is commendable when brands promote less-waste options. I love how the "Blessed Beyond Measure" print on the front of the bag is a little reminder to always be thankful. Every day you wake up, blessed. You're healthy, blessed. You're safe, blessed.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser Conditioning Face Wash, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $9.00 (a full-size 6 fl oz is also available for $18.00)

I've always been obsessed with Glossier. Every time I see an ad on Instagram, I'm always drawn in by the sleek, simplistic design of their packaging and the flawless, diverse models displaying their products. I am so excited to FINALLY get to try one, and this Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser Conditioning Face Wash did not disappoint. The texture is one of the most unique I've ever experienced with a cleanser. It's a mix between a cleansing balm and a gel cleanser. It carries a light, very fresh scent that is reminiscent to me of baby powder. After washing my face, my skin felt fresh and clean without a feeling of stripped to dry and crusty. This product is pH-balanced with five skin conditioners, making it perfect for daily use. Formulated with unique natural elements, such as comfrey root extract, rose water, and pro-vitamin B5, this one of a kind cleanser hydrates, heals and soothes skin. I'm a huge fan!

Pura Dór Apple Cider Vinegar Thin2Thick Shampoo, 8 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $19.99

This Pura Dór Apple Cider Vinegar Thin2Thick Shampoo contains biotin! For me, biotin is the magic ingredient that makes my hair and nails grow healthy and strong. I love it when a product incorporates this amazing supplement. As an added bonus, the product is also formulated with apple cider vinegar, another natural ingredient that has worked wonders for my hair in the past, and 15 other key ingredients, including castor oil and argan oil. This shampoo is very cleansing and hydrating. It removed any product buildup I had and left my hair feeling squeaky clean but moisturized and noticeably shinier. The scent is a delectable apple fragrance that puts me in the fall spirit. If you're looking for a luxurious, soft, full head of hair, you will definitely want to check out Pura Dór's Apple Cider Vinegar Thin2Thick haircare line.

LivSo Moisturizing Shampoo, Conditioner, and Scalp Lotion Sample, .33 fl oz 3x - Estimated Value $4.00 (Buy full-size 9 fl oz, 8 fl oz, 8.5 fl oz Moisturizing Pack for $49.50)

I'm loving this travel-friendly sample size haircare kit. This LivSo hydrating hair system comes with a shampoo, conditioner, and a scalp lotion, all in one convenient strip. Sulfate-free and formulated with natural ingredients like lemongrass, coconut, and aloe, these products work together to cleanse, hydrate and protect curly and kinky hair. Scientifically researched and based on dermatological findings, this system was created to work in perfect harmony with each other and your hair. If you have a lot of hair, one of these packets will definitely not be enough. Thankfully, I still have my locs in and this is the perfect amount to do my roots. I'm going to save the second pack for a road trip across the country that I'll be taking at the beginning of November.

Glossier Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color in Storm, .33 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $18.00

Another Glossier product! I'm so excited! This Glossier Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color in Storm is incredible. It blends seamlessly into my skin and looks like a natural, healthy flush instead of a layer of clown-like powder just sitting on my cheeks and compliments my skin tone perfectly. The texture is brilliant; it is unlike any cream or liquid blush I've tried in the past. Highly pigmented but easy to blend and evenly disperse, it leaves you with a "just finished cardio" rosy-looking cheek. The product is long-lasting, perfect for all-day wear. In my opinion, this is a wonderful addition to any natural makeup look. I'm also in love with the name, "Cloud Paint." It just makes you want to grab the tube and put it on! Lightweight and cruelty-free, this buildable gel-cream blush, is an absolute delight to apply and wear. I'm sold!

Dove Advanced Care Dry Spray Antiperspirant Deodorant Beauty Finish,  3.8 oz - Full Size! Retail Value $5.99

I've always been a solid stick deodorant girl because I never liked that moist, sticky feeling that deodorant sprays can leave on your armpits. It always made me feel like I'd been doing burpees in a swamp... Gross. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried out this Dove Advanced Care Dry Spray Antiperspirant Deodorant Beauty Finish. I know that was a mouthful, but stick with me here, people. This antiperspirant is a DRY spray. It sprayed on completely dry; it was wonderful. I'm really enjoying this product. The one thing I will say is it does have a very girly perfume-like scent that is a bit much for me. When I repurchase this product, I will definitely get it in fresh or unscented, but in my opinion, this is a great product. It lasted all day and kept my underarms dry and fresh without any irritation or white residue left behind. Infused with natural oils for soft, moisturized underarms, the product contains zero harsh chemicals and alcohols, perfect for the delicate skin of your beautiful lady pits.

Twisted Sista Amazing Dream Curl Gel, 11 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $8.99

This Twisted Sista Amazing Dream Curl Gel smells absolutely divine. An amazing combo of coconut, avocado, and almond oils, this curl gel elongates your curls and eliminates frizz, all while providing a strong styling hold. I absolutely wish I could use this product, but I own an exotic bird, who loves to play in my hair, and if you don't know, avocados are VERY toxic to parrots. So, I try to avoid using avocado-based products on any part of my person that they could have access to. But my goddaughter has a full head of beautiful curls and this product worked amazingly on her hair. They call this "Dream Curl Gel" because there is no sticky or crunchy texture and no flakes or residue left behind on your hair. If you are looking for a crunch-less hold and bouncy, frizz-less curls, I would recommend giving this a try.

Sassi 3D Faux Mink Classy 807-3D4, 1PC - Full Size! Retail Value $2.00

Okay, now this is a first. These Sassi 3D Faux Mink Classy 807-3D4 eyelashes are reusable up to 50 times! That's pretty amazing and also wonderful for the planet. With a perfectly lightweight, soft, flexible horseshoe-shaped band design, these dramatic lashes will give you maximum volume and comfort for a loooong time. I tried these on for the purpose of reviewing, but I'm super excited to be able to reuse them when I finally go on my first post COVID date, or to my first post COVID party, or my first post COVID anything. I applied the lashes with ease and they held in place and were durable. Upon removing, I was able to peel off the glue, and the lashes were almost back to new.

Sassi Blister Eyelash Glue in Clear, 5 ml - Full Size! Retail Value $2.50

This Sassi Blister Eyelash Glue in Clear is the perfect partner in crime to the Sassi 3D mink eyelashes. Naturally waterproof, long-lasting, and durable, this glue adheres and dries quickly. A quick public service announcement, this product IS latex-based. If you have any sensitivity or allergy to latex, you will want to avoid this like the plague. I can't even imagine an allergic reaction on my eyelids; that would be horrendous. But if you are allergy-free and are looking for a great affordable eyelash glue, you may enjoy this product.

Theraflu Multi-Symptom Severe Cold Hot Liquid Powder,  3 Packets - Estimated Value $3.50 (Buy full-size 6 Packets for $6.89)

When I pulled this out of the Cocotique box, I was slightly baffled. Theraflu? I've never received anything like this in a box, but Theraflu Multi-Symptom Severe Cold Hot Liquid Powder is amazing. Anytime I've been sick or felt a sore throat coming on, I always pick up a box of this liquid gold. I can't say I'm disappointed in receiving this product because even though it is a little unusual to receive in a beauty box, it is definitely welcome. With the colder weather on its way, I will definitely get use out of these gold medalists of the over-the-counter Olympics. You simply add a packet of this powder to hot water and you have a medicated hot tea that will start kicking your cold symptoms in the butt immediately. When I've used Theraflu, it's eased any sinus headaches I have, as well as my congestion, soothed any sore throat, and calmed my coughs. If you're not sure whether Theraflu is right for you or you have any pre-existing conditions, always consult with your primary care physician, not WebMD, your real-life doctor.

Ebonii's Moon It's All Good Hair Days Sticker Sheet, 6 pc - Estimated Value $3.75 (Buy full-size 8 pc for $5.00)

This sheet of Ebonii's Moon It's All Good Hair Days Stickers brought me back to happy back-to-school days, decorating my folder with the brightest Lisa Frank stickers. I love how these stickers depict women with all different skin tones and hair types, from head wraps to locs to twists and big curls. This is the kind of representation that needs to be mainstream. Handmade and drawn by Ebonii's Moon on Etsy, these adorable stickers are definitely created with love and care. I had the irresistible urge to stick them all over my laptop, but these stickers are perfect for planners, phone cases, binders, or anything else that you want to jazz up.

The Verdict: I think September 2020's Cocotique box was on point! I was absolutely thrilled that we received two Glossier products. I loved the Milky Jelly Cleanser and the Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color in Storm. Both products were quality and delivered above and beyond exactly what they were supposed to. The Theraflu, while an interesting product to include in a beauty box, in my opinion, is a welcome necessity for the cooler months. I also enjoyed the Dove New Advanced Care Antiperspirant Dry Spray Beauty Finish. It opened my eyes to a whole new world of deodorizers. The Twisted Sista Amazing Dream Curl Gel is a great product that I was able to gift to someone who is getting great use from it. I hate letting anything go to waste and I'm always happy when a product I receive can either be repurposed or given to someone who will enjoy it. The Sassi 3D Faux Mink Lashes in Classy and Salon Eyelash Glue in Clear were a great combo and worked well. I look forward to seeing if I can get all 50 wears from this single pair of lashes. The LivSo Moisturizing Shampoo, Conditioner, and Scalp Lotion sample is perfect for on-the-go use and travel. The Pura Dór Apple Cider Vinegar Thin2Thick Shampoo smells delicious and left my roots luxurious and shiny. I absolutely adore the Ebonii's Moon It's All Good Hair Days Sticker Sheet. I love the artistic style and diversity of them. The estimated total value of this box is $77.72, which is a great value on a $25 subscription, especially with the huge variety of products received.

Thank you for the review! I have a dumb question: in the spoilers there was an eye cream, is the cream a variation or did they substitute the item? I think I’m getting confused with all the subscriptions and the ones that have variations vs the ones that have not lol

Hi Izzie 🙂
The eye cream was a variant. Two of the following were included in each box:
Doucce Eyeshadow Palette
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
Glossier Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color
Specific Beauty Lightening & Brightening Eye Cream

Thank you Luna, it helps a lot! I suppose I’m better off waiting for some promotion on glossier’s website 🙂

I first received a Dove dry spray either in a Target or Walmart box. I’ve been a fan of it since, and bought it several times. Its so much better than the wet types. My favorite scent is cucumber, but I like powder fresh too! It works great!
Check Walgreens, they often have it on sale plus make sure you are signed up for their perks card & beauty enthusiast. I add coupons to my card all the time! It adds up to free money!

I don’t know why my previous comment didn’t post, however I found out there are several variations. Does anyone know in this September box what products are the ones that are in every box? I saw they have some boxes left and would get it if I knew I could get the 2 glossier items and the shampoo. Thank you!

The back of the card listing which products are in all boxes and which are variants is the 5th picture down in the review. 🙂

This was my 2nd box in my 3-month sub, and I absolutely loved it. 🙂 My variants were a Doucce 4-pan mini-eyeshadow palette (that I gifted to my very happy mom; she loves Doucce eyeshadows) and a Twisted Sista leave-in conditioner instead of the styler, which works better for me. 🙂 I was beyond thrilled I received the Glossier cleanser, since I’ve always wanted to try a Glossier skincare product, and I know their cleanser is one of their hero products. I was also a bit surprised to see the Theraflu in the bag (side note: I love how they put the products in the bag; it sort of reminds me of opening a mini Indie Beauty Expo bag filled with goodies as the Cocotique bags/boxes have that nice element of surprise to it since usually only a couple of things are spoiled ahead of time). I didn’t mind getting the Theraflu though as it’ll definitely come in handy when my allergies start acting up in the Fall. I’m also really excited to try the shampoo too. Since I saw it was an ACV shampoo I was half expecting it to be thin and more like a rinse like other ACV hair washes I’ve seen, which I’m personally not a fan of, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it’s like a typical shampoo, and it smelled sooo good. I honestly could have done without the Dove deodorant though. They’re not horrible, but spray deodorants are my least favorite kind to use. I always feel like my aim is off (lol), so I end up getting it on my ear, hair, side of face, or whatever may be behind me, plus I feel like I always have to step away to another part of my room so I don’t inhale whatever is left lingering in the air. Definitely user error. Despite all that, I’ll still use it though, lol. It does do a really good job of keeping me dry.

Oh! It’s probably worth noting that their prepaid subscription plan prices will be increasing too starting with the October box. I’m not sure about an increase to their month-to-month boxes. I forwarded the email to MSA, but nothing has been posted yet, but I think the price increase info may be on Cocotique’s site as well.
