CatLadyBox September 2020 Review

CatLadyBox is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for September:

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box. This month has a "Cozy Cats" theme. There was also a card letting us know next month is CatLadyBox's annual black cats theme. Yay, a whole theme for Madison!

On to the items:

Cozy Cats Shirt - Retail Value $19.99

This is super soft and comfortable. It's still pretty warm where I live and short sleeves are still appropriate (or this can always be paired with one of the hoodies or zip-up jackets from past years of CatLadyBox!). I wore this for like 23 hours straight (I'm super lazy during work from home and social distancing) and it felt great the whole time. Also it seems to have taken at least the first wash well.

Cozy Cat Rope Basket - Retail Value $19.99

I linked to a black one because the white one wasn't in the CatLadyBox shop. This is more of a decorative basket than a functional basket because the handles are the cat's ears and thus not directly across from one another. However, if you have some items you want to keep together in one place this would be useful. I'd say I could put all my cat toys in it but since I have been reviewing cat subscription boxes for like six years I think you know that I have enough cat toys to fill at least two bathtubs, if not more. Anyway, perhaps this would be a more attractive storage location for my cats' daily meat squares than the box they came in.

Counting Cats Pillowcase Set - Retail Value $17.99

You know that most sheet sets come with two pillowcases but I have 5 or 6 pillows on my bed so I am always in need of extra pillowcases. These are adorable and they feel nice and smooth against the skin as well. These are definitely going into the rotation.

Fuzzy Squirrel Catnip Toy - Retail Value $4.99

This little guy is super cute. I like that he's small as my cats are usually more interested in smaller toys. Their favorite part was his tail, which is not the least bit surprising. You can see the tail in some of the cat pictures below.

Catnip Fall Leaf Toy - Retail Value $5.99

If you're wondering about the price tag, this is handmade exclusively for CatLadyBox, not mass-produced. It is from Crochet Kitty; you can check out some of their other items here. This is made in the US with eco-friendly materials. It's small and rather flat so Madison had a good time rolling on top of it. Monkey was more of a chin rubber with this one.

Gratuitous cat photos:

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $68.95 for the September 2020 (Crazy) CatLadyBox. Even if you think one or more values are inflated, that's still well over the cost of the box on a month-to-month basis. I thought all the items were w0nderful for fall and arrived early enough to be used in fall. It's also nice to receive items useful around the house because I am certainly not going anywhere for the next few months (or longer). My cats liked the toys and the shirt material was super comfortable. This was a good box for us.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Officially your subscription would start with October's box if you order before the cutoff on the 26th, but way back when I signed up, I was contacted to say there were a few of the current month’s box left over and asked if I’d like one of those. So it may be worth inquiring.

This looks like a great box. I’d use everything and my cat would love those toys. Another box on my wish list.

They really knocked it out of the park on this box in particular. I’m using the basket on my nightstand and now my nosy girl can’t get to the lip balm, nail file, hand cream, etc. to fling them on the floor at 0200. The tee is adorable and I love the unique, autumnal color! And, the pillowcases are great quality; love the flap pocket. The toys, as always, are a huge hit, especially the leaf. Great job!

I really loved the basket. I just wish they had offered the choice to pick the white one or the black one. The black one would have matched with one of my cats!

Has anyone tried to make the basket into their bed? I wouldn’t be surprised, if so! It looks like about the perfect size.

CatLadyBox shared a bunch of subscribers’ pics of their kitties curled up in the basket on their FB page. Probably Instagram too. My cats haven’t shown interest in doing that yet, but you never know with those sillies.

It’s too small for my cats to sit in but they are on the larger side (for Monkey by length, if not by weight).

The basket is perfect for the Catlady toys! My older cat stood in it with her front paws and batted them around until she picked what she wanted. I’m loving the soft shirts- def. my new stay at home uniform.

“Meat squares” 😂😂😂😂

Ragan Buckley

I mean they are little pieces of meat (or fish if you want to get technical) in square-shaped packages, plus “Fancy Feast Purely Natural Treats Variety Pack Cat Treats” is too hard to remember.

I like that you linked to them, so I checked them out. I just keep laughing about “meat squares.” Can you team up with the woman who runs Crazy Cat Lady and make some snacks called Meat Shapes? Salmon stars, crab cylinders, cheese circles, chicken cones, pork parallelograms. Actually, how about Geometreats? 😂😂 ™™™™

Leslie

I love the cat basket. You could create a cat themed bathroom and put toilet paper in it or roll up hand towels. I love the pillow cases too. This was a very cute cat box this month.

I don’t have cats and am def not a cat lady, but I really enjoy your reviews of this sub. I look forward to them, thanks!

I think it should be a requirement that if you are an MSA reviewer and you live with at least one cat, you must add photos of the cat/s to every review, no matter the topic.

“Overall, the box contained a good mix of art supplies and winter clothing, and here’s Mittens eating her breakfast.”

DEA-You are so right! I would read every single review on here if that happened! GENIUS IDEA! Also, I love how you phrased this, it made me smile!

Ragan, I love those pillow cases!!!!!

Beth

I strongly agree!!!

The company has a great shop that sells most, of not all, items in their boxes. Off to find those pillowcases!
