TheraBox “Rise & Shine” July 2020 Review

TheraBox includes a mini magazine highlighting the ingredients to happiness included in each month’s box. It contains a note from the editor, opportunities to win free boxes, a list of all the items included in this month’s box, and TheraBox FAQs. I love that TheraBox provides a description of each product, a link to the product’s website, the cost of the item, and a coupon code if available.

Organic Kombucha in Raspberry Dragonfruit by KÖE, 12 fl oz. – Listed Value $2.50

Getting a drink was a fun surprise! I have tried to like kombucha many times over the years, but I just have never grown to love it like so many of my friends. I think for me, the live Lactospore Probiotics that are fermented are what turn me off a bit with the drink in general. Kombucha like this is so super good for you, though! Probiotics help to support your immune system and gut health, while the raspberries and dragonfruit in this particular drink help with inflammation and provide antioxidants. This brand uses USDA organic fruits, no artificial ingredients, plus it is vegan, kosher certified, gluten-free, and non-alcoholic. I decided to give this drink a try since it has been a few years since I tried kombucha, while I really enjoyed the fruity and fresh flavors of this, I just can't really get over the texture. Anyone else out there not a kombucha fan?!

Shiny Girl Shimmer Oil by Aminnah Skincare, 2 oz. – Listed Value $34.99

I am sort of obsessed with the fact that they sent a body oil this month! I have been receiving so many facial oils, which I love, but I was really excited to get a similar blend that can be used all over! This oil is made with real 24K gold dust, shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, and argan oil. Each natural ingredient works to soften, plump, hydrate, restore, and protect your skin. The booklet recommends using this oil from the neck down after a shower to lock-in the yummy moisture and to get a little shimmer going. The oil is super light so it absorbs quickly into the skin; I even mixed mine with a bit of my daily moisturizer that I use on my body to give me a little extra boost in those super dry areas. I can't say that I noticed a huge gold shine to my skin from the gold dust, but I am not really complaining about that since I'm not really a gold-shimmer-all-over type of gal at this point in my life. However, I was completely blown away by the total hydration it gave my skin and the beautiful glow that I felt all day long.

Sundown Lotion by Z Skin Cosmetics, 1 fl oz. – Retail Value $21.00

I have to admit that I'm sort of confused by this product. It says it does a lot, but the info on the package is missing a bit of the information/ingredients that are listed in the booklet and on the Z Skin site. According to the booklet and site, this is an after-sun, burn healing, and bug-repelling moisturizer. It is meant to heal burns from sun exposure, stop itching, moisturize, and lock in your tan. That is a lot for one little product! I am out in the sun a lot but always use my sunscreen and I almost never get a burn so I wasn't able to try it for that, but I did use it on my legs and feet before going to the pool since the bugs have been out in full force lately! I can't say that I noticed a big difference and still ended up with a few bites. However, I do really love the smell of this lotion and the hydration it provides my dry skin. This is made with eucalyptus, geranium, sea buckthorn, grapefruit, lavender, lemon, naturally formulated plant wax, citronella, water, peppermint, patchouli, aloe, tea tree, safflower, flaxseed, vitamin E, jasmine, and clove, so it has this really yummy minty scent. The booklet recommends taking a cool shower after too much sun exposure and then applying this lotion all over for a cooling sensation and hydration.

Bounce Watermelon Eye Cream by Minimo, 1 fl oz. – Retail Value $13.95

I am really starting to notice fine lines appearing around my eyes (hello 33 and quarantine stress) so I have been trying to find the perfect eye cream. My problem, however, is that my eyes are super sensitive so even if I just use an eye cream at night, many still irritate my eyes the next day. I was excited to see that this is fragrance and essential oil-free to help with sensitive eyes. This cream has watermelon extract in it which is a natural diuretic to eliminate the appearance of "bags" under your eyes and dark circles, while the Gotu Kola extract boosts collagen and tightens. They recommend using your finger to apply small dots of the product under your eyes and do gentle taps to fully apply and let your skin drink the product in. I had some light irritation with my eyes after using this once, but then after trying it a few more times I didn't notice any more irritation so I am going to continue using this product! I can't say that I have noticed a huge difference just yet, but I do see that my eye area seems more hydrated so hopefully, in time I will see some results!

Shoe Bubble Por-Lite Orthotic Insole by Soul Insole – Retail Value $25.99

I am on my feet pretty much all day chasing after my two kids, so I wake up every morning with some pretty intense foot pain. I don't wear the best shoes, especially in the summer I'm still rocking sandals, but I was really excited to see these this month! I am going to add them to my new Fall boots to hopefully feel a bit less pain even though I'm on my feet a lot. Each insole is super thin and slim to help improve alignment and foot comfort by relieving pressure from the heel and forefoot. You can move these insoles from shoe to shoe, they stick easily, and you can even clean them! I was really impressed with the instructions that these came with as well, making it super easy to place in your shoe in the correct location to optimal comfort. I can't wait to give these a try when breaking in my new boots!

Self-Care Surprise Scratch Off Activity Book by The Happy Shoppe – Listed Value $9.99

This scratch-off book is so cute! Each page comes with a theme and scratch-off circles to reveal an activity or action you can take to help with your self-care journey. I am not the best at focusing on myself, I give most of my time and energy to my family as most Moms do, but I really crave me time. I just don't make the time for myself like I used to! Books like this are a great way to remind yourself to take that time while having fun with it! I could see this making a great gift to a Mom friend or just a gal pal that loves self-care days.

Daisy Headwraps by Uptop, Set of 2 – Listed Value $19.99

I love a knotted headwrap! These eyelet wraps are so cute and fresh for the summer and would match with so many different outfits. Plus, they do a great job of keeping my thick curly hair out of my face and off of my neck and fit me perfectly. I use headwraps a lot at night to do my skincare routine or in the morning to do my makeup, but I am really loving how these two look on me. I might start wearing them more throughout the day!

Facial Cooling Globes by Pivotal – Retail Value $35.00

I have been wanting to try cooling globes for a while now so these were a super special treat this month! All you have to do to use these are place them in the refrigerator before using, wash, then roll over your face and neck along with a facial serum or moisturizer. You can use these day or night! These globes are meant to help with skin elasticity, relieving facial tension, reducing puffiness, promoting blood circulation, and preventing fine lines by tightening your skin. I have used these a few times before bed and am totally in love! I have been putting mine in the fridge for about 20 minutes before using and they are perfectly cool. My allergies have been bothering me a lot but I have found that using these over my sinus area has provided a ton of relief! Not to mention it feels so good using these along with my nightly serum to really lock that moisture from the product into my skin. I wake up feeling less puffy with a healthy glow after using it. These are something that I know I will keep for years to come and will always enjoy that spa-like feeling I get when using them!

Camo Foldable Backpack by Zona - Retail Value $20.00

This little backpack is super cute! I love the bright colors, perfect for summer, and it has plenty of room to use for the park or pool. The backpack starts out as a pouch that unfolds into the backpack that you can then fold back into the pouch. It says to take the pouch with you in your bag in case you need the backpack for extra space. I can't say I really understand that, but I usually have my big diaper bag backpack with me so I never really need more things to carry. However, I love that it folds into the pouch making it easy to store, like if I wanted to keep it in my glove compartment in my car or something. The fabric is water-resistant and cleans easily in case of any spills. My daughter was pretty into this little backpack so she has been using it to carry toys in when we go on walks to my son's friend's house down the street! It is great because it helps us bring toys, but she loves it so much that she carries it so I don't have to! Wins all around!

The Verdict: This month's TheraBox was fun and light, perfect for summer! I am obsessed with the body oil, I didn't even realize I needed a body oil in my routine, and the headwraps are the perfect way to keep my hair out of my face through this hot summer we are having. My ultimate item this month is the cooling globes because I love a little self-care that makes me feel like I escaped to a spa while leaving my face looking super healthy! The eye cream is working for me so far, and the backpack and shoe insoles are being put to good use. All of the products this month didn't feel like a complete curation, and while I loved the backpack, insole, and kombucha, they felt sort of off to the box as a whole. The sun lotion still confuses me a little, but maybe I just don't have a need for that product specifically. While the box curation didn't feel complete, I still loved a lot of the products and discovered new brands that I had never been introduced to before. Not every month is going to be that shining star, but that is what makes boxes like this so unique and special when you do find something truly amazing! This month's estimated retail value is $183.41 making this box an incredible deal considering the $39.98 price ($34.99 + $4.99 shipping).

I’ve subscribed to this box for 3+ years and this was one of my favorites!

I believe it was well-curated with the themes of:

• getting outside for a bit/being active (backpack, insoles, and headbands);

• being comfortable in the skin you’re in/hydrating (beverage with extra health benefits, body oil, and eye cream);

• plus a bit of after-care/pampering (lotion and cooling globes).

I have added the backpack to my carry-on suitcase as a welcomed hands-free option when I’m again able to explore places like farmers and art markets; I appreciate that it’s lightweight and portable by design!

I just looked at previous boxes and yeah, too many beauty products. Guess I’ll see what
the next couple months bring and then decide.
