Little Feminist Book Club Ages 0-3 July 2020 Review
I received this welcome sheet introducing this month's books. They go over a few details about the book and how you can share your thoughts with them after reading the book with your little ones!
On the back of the welcome page is this month's activity which is "My Quiet Space." Here they give you some ideas on how you can encourage your little one to create a quiet space when their emotions are running high. You can talk about things they can do to keep calm, or even ask them what they enjoy doing to calm themselves. We always used the "belly breathe" route when my son was little, we use it now for our daughter, and have since moved our son to drawing or counting to four when he feels big emotions coming on. This is such a great tool for parents and little ones!

This board book is so beautiful! The illustrations are so fluid; they help to tell the story of Hina, the goddess of the moon, and to show the breathtaking beauty that is Hawaii. Hina loves her island but wants to escape the noise while still being able to look over everything on her island that she adores. She escapes to the moon and sits among the stars. My daughter is almost 2 so while she doesn't understand the story just yet, she is very engaged and loves looking through to discover the pictures on each page.

Sweet Dreams, Zaza by Mylo Freeman - Retail Value $14.95 (found here for $11.99)
We met Zaza last month and both of my kids absolutely fell in love with her! Like the story last month, we get to see Zaza and all of her stuffed animal friends, and this time we get to see what they do to get ready for bed. Zaza makes sure to go through her bedtime routine with each one of her stuffed animals before her Mommy gets her ready for bedtime. The story is so sweet and the way that Zaza takes care of her animals is so loving and kind. I am big on sleep routines in my house so I love it when a story goes over a bedtime routine and ends with such a calm and loving sweet dream goodnight! The illustrations are so bold, my daughter is always reaching at each page saying the character's names and gives Zaza a big hug on the last page to wish her goodnight. I hope we get to see Zaza again next month!

What Do You Think Card
Each book comes with a "What Do You Think" card that gives you questions you can ask your little reader about the book. Each side is broken out by age, which I find so helpful! These cards are great because they continue the discussion from lessons that we learned in the book or things we might have seen. It also allows your little one to really think and for you to learn a bit more about what they might be thinking at the time. This month's questions ask things like, "where do you find a quiet space when things get noisy?" and "what do you do to get ready for bed?" These questions are age-appropriate and really help to get your kids engaged!
Verdict: I love Little Feminist Book Club! My daughter is almost 2 so her personality is really showing, as well as her love of books! My oldest son has a ton of books, mainly from my baby shower, but I never had a shower for my daughter so I have to admit that her bookshelf is sad compared to his. This subscription allows me to fill her bookshelf with two new books each month. Plus, we get to show her books that focus on strong female lead characters, something that I think is so important to show kids at a young age. Each book this month was so sweet, my daughter is obsessed with Zaza and just loves looking through both books! I also love that Little Feminist focuses on showing diversity while also highlighting cultures that my kids might not be exposed to. I do think that the price is a bit high for two books, but for me, I see the value in giving my kids a special treat each month. They absolutely love receiving a package that is just for them, and I love to see them get excited over books and discover each page. Especially right now when we can't go anywhere and they aren't able to explore our local library, I see the value in bringing quality books right to them!
