GlossyBox August 2020 Review
GlossyBox includes an info booklet that tells you about each included item, its value, and a tip on how to use it. This month is the Glossy Birthday Box!
GlossyBox Eye Boost Cream, 15 mL - Full Size! Retail Value $23.00
I know there are loads of feelings about own-brand items, especially in such a saturated market like beauty and skincare. I totally get it! From an ingredient standpoint, this eye cream is pretty decent. It has some great things inside like glycerine, hyaluronic acid, and a stable form of vitamin C for brightening. The cream feels nice on my skin and though there is a scent, it is soft. There weren't any big red flags on that ingredient list for me, personally. All in all, this is a solid (though perhaps unexciting) eye cream that would be a nice treat for anyone with dull and dry undereye skin.
Rebels Refinery Geo Heart Shaped Lip Balm in 'Wildberry', 7 g - Retail Value $7.00
I really wanted to love this lip balm but the scent was just too much artificial berry for me. Most of you know I am very weird about sweet food scents! The formula itself is great though. It left my lips feeling super soft and happy! And I love the cute heart container. If only my lips weren't so close to my nose!
Jecca Blac Glow Drops Primer in 'Rose Pearl' 20 mL - Full Size! Retail Value $21.40
This little tube has some really pretty highlighter inside! The liquid formula is really nice for dabbing onto your cheeks and nose, as well as your chin and forehead. The shade is a rose pearl which is the perfect amount of champagne and blush, and I imagine this will be super flattering for anyone!
Above is the highlighter rubbed in, and below is a little dollop!
Freeman Beauty Psssst! Deep Clean Dry Shampoo, 50 g - Travel Size! Retail Value $2.99
Because this bottle mentioned "pink clay and peppermint" I expected this to smell minty. Instead, it smells more floral and perfumy! I kind of like it. I am a dry shampoo enthusiast so I like to have loads on hand. This might not be my favorite ever scent or formula, but it works great and it is certainly more affordable than most of my other options.
Tangle Teezer The Original Detangling Hair Brush in Sweet Lilac - Retail Value $12.00
I feel like I have so many of these sorts of brushes from boxes lately, but truth be told, each has found a home! I kept one for myself as a scalp stimulator. These bristles just aren't enough for my long thick hair, but daaaang does it feel incredible when used for a massage on my often neglected scalp. Another went to Birdie, our cat, who is obsessed with it and she will bring it to me for brushing. She also likes to sleep with it, but I don't have any explanation for that. Another was gifted to a friend with thinner hair.
Snowberry Youth Renewing Face Serum, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $3.09 (Buy a full-size 35 mL for $72.00)
The last item inside this month was a small foil sample of a serum I have never tried. I don't love foil samples because there is usually enough for a few tries but I always end up spilling them everywhere. This was a thicker clear liquid that almost felt like a gel. It felt nice on my face but left a little stickiness behind. I would totally save this for a nighttime sort of treat. Inside is a blend of niacinamide, sodium lactate (the salt of lactic acid), and more goodies!
Verdict: This month's GlossyBox was very pink and very birthday! I thought this was a pretty well-curated month for this box. I was pleasantly surprised by the ingredients in the GlossyBox brand eye cream, and I enjoyed the other items as well. It was nice to see 3 full-size items inside as well as the full-size brush. The value lands somewhere around $69.48, which isn't mind-blowing for a $21 box but is still a good value!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yep! They do sell out though, so I would jump if you want this one.
