BomiBag July 2020 Review
There was no information card included in the package. I sometimes find more information about the box contents on the Bomibox site, but they are not up yet for July.
Barulab Teatree Anti-Blemish Sheet Mask - Retail Value $2.50
Tea tree oil is really compatible with my skin and definitely a mild way for me to clear up breakouts. However, tea tree oil kind of has a smell which, thankfully, was not noticeable in this mask. Both the sheet and the mask serum are vegan, which is unusual for a K-beauty product although I'm seeing that more often lately. This one is also supposed to help with sebum control and I think it did, or at least my face wasn't super oily at the end of the day after I used this in the morning. As with most sheet masks, it was also moisturizing.
Goodal Blueberry Infused Water Mild Sheet Mask - Retail Value $1.50
When I first started trying out K-beauty products, Goodal was one of the earliest brands I learned about, so this takes me back. I have always been happy with Goodal products, though, and this was no exception. The sheet for this one is made from bamboo and is really flexible. This mask includes blueberry extract; blueberries, being dark-colored fruits, have a lot of vitamins and antioxidants that may help fight free radical damage. This had a slightly fruity scent but it wasn't specifically blueberry-like, nor was it overwhelming. This was pretty gentle and would be good for frequent use.
Lagom Cellup Gel-to-Water Cleanser (30 mL) - Estimated Value $2.69 (Buy 7.44 fl oz for $20)
I have said this before and I'll say it again, but if you subscribe to BomiBag, you will get A LOT of cleansers. I'm still trying to work through a few from past months. While I am working from home, I have been super lazy with skincare. Cleansers, however, get used several times per day as I don't like my glasses getting oily and sliding down my nose! This is meant to be a morning cleanser for when you're not wearing a lot of makeup, to help clean off the oils your face secretes during the night (or else any thick creams or sleeping masks you may have used before bed). I think it is pretty good as gentle cleansers go; it does remove oils without totally drying out the skin. It has a light fragrance that just says "fresh and clean" to me and I like that it doesn't contain any artificial dyes.
Nature Republic Bamboo Charcoal Mud Pack (150 g) - Retail Value $8.90
I like mud masks. I do tend to have oily skin and somewhat clogged pores, especially on my nose, even though I haven't worn makeup since March. This mask did a great job of getting the gunk out of my pores and really only a thin layer was required, so it actually dried in about 10-15 minutes. It was also pretty easy to wash off. This has a couple of fruit extracts in addition to the charcoal and clay/mud.
Heimish pH 5.5 Refresh Water Clean Up Peeling Toner (70 mL) - Estimated Value $5.04 (Buy 250 mL for $18, found here for $14.40)
First off, I will say, this is gentle, because I got some in my eye (don't ask) and it didn't hurt, which is interesting since this is not alcohol-free. (For what it's worth, I like alcohol toners, especially during the summer, although I know they're not for everyone.) This has a whole lot of fruit extracts so it's full of antioxidants and vitamins, and it also has lavender extract, which is calming, and tea tree oil, which can be pretty good for addressing breakouts. It does have both alpha-hydroxy acids and beta-hydroxy acids, so use a good SPF product in conjunction with this. At any rate, this seems very compatible with my skin after the initial few uses and there's enough to really try out and look for long-term effects as well.

You will get a lot of little kits like this in BomiBag, and I think it's a fun chance to try multiple products from the same product line, especially since these product lines were often designed to be used as a system. The main ingredients here are propolis and various Centella extracts. Propolis is a resinous mixture produced by honeybees and has many of the same anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties attributed to honey, while Centella extracts have antioxidants (vitamin A), amino acids, and fatty acids (good for moisture). This one does appear to be alcohol-free. It was gentle and does not dry the skin, and was a bit herbal smelling. I think this is going to be more of a daytime toner for me while I will use the previous one at night, since this one doesn't have AHAs or BHAs.
Cica Emulsion (30 mL) - Estimated Value $4.20 (Buy 200 mL for $28, found here for $21)
This has the same key ingredients (propolis, Centella extracts) as the toner above but also a lot more fatty acids and moisturizing compounds. It is very light, though, and a little goes a long way. That makes it great for morning for me, when I like to use lighter moisturizers, so it pairs well with the toner from the same set. It is also nice to get a double dose of the main ingredients.
Verdict: I calculated a total value of about $29.03 for the July BomiBag. This is well above the month-to-month cost of the subscription. Although I was familiar with most of the brands, all of the individual items were new to me. I feel like the lightness of the toners, emulsion, and cleanser was wonderful for summer (it is still quite hot where I am, in the South) while the three masks all helped address individual skin concerns I am having at the moment. I also just feel like there were a lot of items in there for a $21 subscription, and even though some were trial sizes, they were still large enough to get multiple uses out of. Also this came earlier than usual. For all of these reasons, I am pretty happy with this month's BomiBag!
