Animal Trackers Club Review - August 2020

Before we get started on the contents of this shipment, I wanted to highlight a few items that we received in our Introductory Box that we also used for this month.

Please note the following items did NOT come in this box:

Animal Trackers Lunchbox

We received this cute tin lunchbox featuring Bode Bear and the Animal Trackers logo which is perfect for storing all of our animal gear each month as we collect it. It will also double as a place to play with our animal magnets!

Animal Tracks Card Ring

This is our Animal Tracks card ring. Each month we will receive an animal photo and track card that we can add to this ring as we discover new animals.

Animal Coloring Card

This animal coloring card will be used to track which animals we've already explored and which are still to come!

Now let's see what we received this month!

As usual, my son was excited to get into our box. Getting to do this box even acted as an incentive for him to clean up his room!

Our animal this month is a rhinoceros and we have this great colored photograph with its tracks to add to our Animal Tracks ring. It is printed on thicker cardstock and has a hole at the top corner for us to easily add it.

My son colored in the rhino on our card and then added our tracks to our ring.

This is our cute rhino magnet to add to our lunchbox.

My son loves these and is always so excited to add the next one to his collection!

My son's favorite each month are these realistic animal figurines/toys. This rhino is such a nice size and it has a good weight to it.

They always include a fun foam animal mask for us.

The kids always enjoy these.

This is our fact sheet for our rhinoceros. It has full-color images on the front with some sentences about them on the back. They include little pictures in the story so that the kids can help read, too!

Our activity this month was Rhinoceros Beading. They provided two different colored rhinoceros beads and several plain black beads along with a cord to use. The card that came with it had a lot of great suggestions for ways we could use these before turning them into a bracelet or necklace.

First, we did some sorting and some counting. We sorted by type and by color and then we even did some comparisons using more than, less than, and equal to which was a somewhat new concept to my son.

Then we took turns finishing each other's patterns before I let him just go on his own. He really loved this activity and I loved that he was getting some fine motor practice!

This activity was such a hit that the next morning he got up and did some more beading with his sister. They even worked on some more patterns.

They usually include a few educational worksheets, but this month there was just one. This was a fun number writing rhino reveal.

My son traced the numbers and then he had to find all of the 2's, 3's, and 4's to color to reveal the rhino. This was great for practicing his writing, number identification, and for some more fine motor practice as he tried to stay within the lines of his picture.

Verdict: This month's Animal Trackers Club box was another hit with my son! He looks forward to these boxes so much each month and he really loves the collectibles and plays with them frequently. While there weren't as many activities this month, the beading activity really kept him occupied and allowed him to work on so many skills that we didn't even notice. He had such a great time beading and he loves that each month he gets a figurine, magnet, mask, track card, and fact sheet to add to his collection. This box is really such a great fit for him and it doesn't break the bank at $16.95 ($13.95 + $3.00 shipping) each month!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
