Walmart Beauty Box "Spring Beauty Sensations" Spring 2020 Review

When you sign up you will answer a series of questions such as your ethnicity, hair color, skin concerns, and a few other preferences. The answers are used to provide a more personalized experience so that they can tailor your box to you.

This little card gives us a link to find this season's products and ingredient information. It also gives us a social media hashtag, and includes a QR code that brings you to a quick survey for a chance to win a $100 Walmart gift card! This is my first box, and while it shows the Spring boxes should start shipping in April, I received this box on June 22nd, so it seems they are running a bit behind.

Natural Vitality Magnesium Supplement, 0.12 oz - Buy an 8 oz container for $23.95

Because I like to save the best for last, we first have a 1-serving packet of Natural Vitality "Calm" magnesium supplement. This raspberry-lemon flavored supplement is to be mixed with 2-3 ounces of warm water until it fizzes. Once it is completely dissolved, you fill the remainder of the cup with warm or cold water. The packet contains 56% of your daily value of magnesium in a tart and tangy drink. I found the raspberry-lemon flavor to be just sweet enough and enjoyable, although I didn't really feel a calming effect. While it was fun to try, I would much rather have a beauty or skincare sample instead!

Hello Charcoal Infused Tapered Bristle Toothbrush - Retail Value $3.99

Here we have a soft-bristled, charcoal-infused, BPA-free toothbrush. I have seen this particular item floating around in sub boxes a lot lately, but haven't received one myself, so I was actually kind of excited to receive this! This streamlined charcoal-colored brush features very soft bristles that are infused with charcoal from bamboo. Because I usually brush with a medium-firm bristled brush I found this was a bit too soft for me. I also felt because the handle was so smooth, I couldn't get a great grip on it like my traditional toothbrush. If they could add a few textured dots to the base I think it would be much more user friendly. While this wasn't my favorite toothbrush in the world, I was excited to finally give it a shot!

Hello Naturally Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste, 1.0 oz. - Buy a 4.7 oz. tube for $3.97

To accompany my new toothbrush, I also received a sample size of the coordinating "Hello: Farm Grown Mint" toothpaste. I have used this brand of toothpaste in the past, and the mint is my favorite flavor. I find the toothpaste to be a bit more runny than traditional toothpaste, but I also find that it foams up quite nicely, and who doesn't like a little natural whitening in a toothpaste?! I like the fact that this brand is peroxide free, dye free, SLS free, paraben free, triclosan free, preservative free, gluten free, and contains no artificial sweeteners and no artificial flavors. My husband is on the other side of the fence and does not like this toothpaste as he is a die-hard Crest user, but I will definitely use this sample up.

Head & Shoulders Supreme Nourish and Smooth Conditioner, 2.5 oz. - Buy a 9.4 oz. bottle for $8.97

Here we have a nice sized sample of Supreme Nourish and Smooth Head and Shoulders scalp and hair conditioner. This product contains 0.5% pyrithione zinc to help combat dandruff. While I tend to have oily hair, I really enjoy the scent of this product and found it was very conditioning. I like these travel-sized samples for sticking in my suitcase, although I haven't done that in far too long!

Bioré Love Your Pores Rose Quartz + Charcoal Daily Purifying Cleanser, 1 oz. - Buy a 6.7 oz. bottle for $7.99

First off, I love the packaging this cleanser is in. Any bottle that is glittery or shiny is right up my alley...  Next, the cleanser itself is pink AND shimmery—do they know me or what?! This product is designed for oily skin so I am their girl. My T-zone gets very oily and tends to cause me to break out in those areas. This cleanser not only smells amazing, (think spring florals with fizz) but it also left my non-sensitive skin feeling tingly and smooth. While the scent faded away rather quickly, I cleansed my face and one of my hands with this product and found hours later that the hand I used it on was 2 times softer and smoother than the hand I didn't cleanse. I was really happy with this product, and excited they sent it because with the number of cleansing products around these days, I probably wouldn't have ever given it a chance! Just as a heads up, this product does contain menthol, so it may cause irritation on sensitive skin. Because I use it in the shower, it cleared out my sinuses and left me feeling a bit more awake than when I went in!

NYX #thisiseverything Lip Oil, 0.27 oz. - Retail Value $6.00

I told you I saved the best for last, but was this bright bluish-lavender item really the best? I thought so! This NYX lip oil comes in five different shades, and I received "sheer lavender." While I tend to think of lavender as more of a purple hue, I was a little hesitant to see what this lip oil was going to actually look like on. Being almost 32 (10 more days left of 31) I just don't feel comfortable wearing bright blue lip glosses. I am happy to say that this oil not only left my lips their natural pink color, but it really infused my lips with moisture without being sticky and messy. I am usually not a fan of vanilla-cherry flavored beauty products, but I found the scent was so mild that I actually enjoyed it. The wear time of this oil was also substantial, and really helped add moisture to my dry summer lips!

Verdict: This my first time reviewing the Walmart Beauty Box, and I have to say it was an interesting mix of items. While I didn't love the magnesium supplement, and I am not the perfect candidate for the Head and Shoulders sample, I did really like the lip oil and cleanser. The toothbrush and toothpaste set was also neat, as we are going to visit my mom in a few days and I can leave this at her house so I have less packing for next time! I had a hard time estimating the value of the items because most were sample size, but between the lip oil and the toothbrush, we were over the $5 cost of the box, so I feel that this mix of items was worth the $5.00 cost of shipping.

My daughter and I both signed up for the Wal-Mart Beauty box in mid-August. However, neither of us have received our boxes yet. Our credit cards were charged for the expense but nothing has been received, despite our online status showing a shipping number for the Autumn 2020 box. I’ve reached out twice to customer service and haven’t received a response either time; my daughter did the same and had the same outcome. I’m beginning to think this is a scam…they take your money and you get nothing!

Even if it isn’t a scam they run really poor customer service. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve told not to do business with the Walmart Beauty Box. They wouldn’t even replace a box that was completely damaged. They wanted a picture of it which I didn’t have because it had taken me so long to get a hold of them. They are terrible and I would recommend never subscribing to the Walmart Beauty Box

I have tried reaching out many, many times about my box… So I will try here. I’ve always really enjoyed my beauty boxes. However, the Spring 2020 had a small bottle of toner inside that leaked all over the contents rendering most of them useless. Is there any recompense for this?? I’d like to keep my subscription, but not if I can’t get through to anyone should something like this happen. Thanks for your help.

I got the same box except with a blue lip oil which actually looked nice on (didn’t turn my lips blue!) I’m sure it’s helpful to others to see what yours looked like on so thank you for that photo. I’m looking forward to seeing how Walmart boxes go from here on out.

Becca Peterson

Thanks for the comments Cat! I’m excited to see how the Walmart boxes will be moving forward as well!

Valerie

I got the exact same box, except my lip oil was more of a pink. Absolutely love it. I also really liked the calm! So much that I went and bought a larger size of it. Definitely has taken the edge off at the end of the day.

Becca Peterson

I’m going to have to try that pink oil! I may have to give a the Calm another try. Thanks for the comments Valerie!

Thank you for showing how the lip oil actually shows up on lips. I never would have guessed that it would have been such a top-performer and still manage to look just perfect in any shade. Thanks again.

Becca Peterson

Thanks for the kind comments h! The lip oil definitely surprised me as well!

I got almost the same box but with a dry conditioner from Dove. I haven’t tried it yet. I love love the toothbrush and the lip oil. I don’t need the cleanser yet but now I’m excited about it!

Meg

I got the lip oil in sky blue… Which is actually pretty blue 😬, toothbrush, toothpaste (the black one again), biore cleanser, calm packet, and a dove dry conditioner. Which I though was dry shampoo and made my hair a greasy mess! It was a lot better just on the ends! Lol

Steph

My box was a bust I got 2 packets for curly hair and my hair is straight, a pack of press on nails I work in a factory so no, the rose scented item that was in the unboxing above I cant use rose items so only thing I kept was the toothbrush and tooth paste hoping the fall box is amazing when they revamp it

Toni Marie

I really like getting the walmart box and the different products that they offer… I got a really good box and cant wait to use everything in it..

Jody

I got press on nails( a new brand for me) instead of the lip oil. I discovered those lip oils last year and bought every shade (scent) they had. If I remember they had special packaging for the holidays and then found out they still carried them all year. I get mine at CVS.

Becca Peterson

Thanks for the tip Jody! I’m going to have to check those out, because I am addicted to that lip oil! I can’t wait to give it a whirl in the when the air is so dry. Did you notice it helped keep your lips hydrated throughout the winter? Thanks for commenting!

Luna

I’m currently using that same toothbrush. I noticed the bristles are getting (slightly) white at the tips the more it’s used. I wish the brush head was a little bigger, but otherwise it’s a decent manual toothbrush.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara Martin

I read when the bristles turn all white, you know it’s time to replace the brush. I love the brush!

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Good to know! Thanks 🙂

Becca Peterson

I agree Luna, my toothbrush is also getting slightly white at the tips! I too wish the head was a little bigger, as it honestly isn’t much larger than my kids’ toothbrush. If they come out with a medium bristle instead of soft I’m totally in!! Thanks for commenting 🙂

Mel

What a great box! For $5.00 shipping, it really can’t be beat

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

Right Mel? I totally would have paid the $5 just for the lip oil! And I’m pretty pumped about the Biore cleanser. My sample is almost gone so the full size version is on my next shopping list!

Missy

I actually really liked this box. I feel like I got my money’s worth – finally. I love the menthol in the face wash, and the toothbrush and toothpaste are awesome, especially for travel. Hope they keep it up, since all other boxes have been nothing but foil samples!

JesCro

I love Natural Calm, but I have to take it at night because it makes me so sleepy. I will have to try out that lip oil.

Reply ButtonReply

Becca Peterson

Thanks for commenting JesCro! Did the Natural Calm work for you right away? I’m really interested, but didn’t necessarily feel any calmer or sleepier after drinking it. Thanks!

Just tried to resubscribe (I guess their system unsubscribed me?) and no matter what, I can’t place the subscription order so maybe something is wrong with their system.
