VetPet Box (Multi-Cat Version) July 2020 Review

Every month, VetPet Box sends toys, supplies, and wellness items:

You always get a pamphlet with information on a health topic. This month's topic is related to keeping pets safe during the 4th of July.

While I was taking pictures, this was going on. Anyway, on to the items:

Hare Kitty Kitty Cat Treats (0.9 oz x 2) - Retail Value $9.98 ($4.99 each)

This is freeze-dried rabbit. Madison didn't want it and Sneaky was too lazy to put forth the effort to eat it, although the smell clearly interested her. However, in a surprising development, Monkey loved this and ate a whole bunch of it. Since I am trying to get him to gain weight (or at least not lose any more), I am good with giving all of these treats to him.

Hunter Katzenspielzeug Kerikeri Butterfly

This is a German brand ("Katzenspielzeug" just means "cat toy") and I couldn't find this item for sale on a website in English with prices in US dollars. Anyway, this and the owl below were both pretty well-liked. Sneaky, in particular, had a lot of fun with them, but the dangly antennae were quite interesting to Madison as well.

Hunter Katzenspielzeug Kerikeri Owl

This was also a pretty big hit. These toys are both catnip plushes and I guess the catnip was pretty good? They are small and a good size for tossing around, too (as well as the standard chin rubbing, which my boys did).

All for Paws Furry Ball (x 2)

This brand can be hard to find in stores but it shows up in cat subscription boxes fairly often. There were pictures of these in a couple of online stores but all were sold out, so no idea on a price. At any rate, these have this fuzzy hair that really appealed to Madison. I was happy there was something he was interested in because he hasn't wanted to play much lately. I guess he is just a moody teenager. (He turned 13 sometime in June!)

Sentry Calming Collar for Cats - Retail Value $19.99 (found here for $17.99)

This relates to the 4th of July safety theme. The fireworks weren't too bad this year, I guess because so many displays got canceled, but I determined for sure from the few loud bangs we did hear that Monkey is the cat most likely to need this next time there are loud noises (and there have been some because of neighbors having big trucks on the street for like driveway replacements and such). This works with a calming pheromone, so it's an option if your cat moves around the house a lot, where a Feliway plugin upstairs wouldn't do much good for a cat who sometimes goes downstairs, and situations like that.

All for Paws Crazy Cat Mat - Retail Value $10.99 (found here for $8.79)

Madison was more interested in this than I expected. (We had another one of these at some point and Angus really liked it so it was sort of sad that he's not around to see this one.) At any rate, this has several points of interest for cats including fun, fuzzy textures, and dangly toys, and it is kind of nice to get an item that's a bit different from the usual toys, as there are small cat toys literally all over the house.

Feliway Classic Travel Spray (20 mL) - Retail Value $19.99 (found here for $14.99)

This is something I like to keep around for vet trips. I have a soft-sided carrier that I use most frequently, and so I spray this a couple of times inside before putting a kitty in there, and it seems to be calming. (This is something I buy from time to time anyway, so it's useful to get a resupply.) Madison has his vaccinations and annual exam next month and we are going fairly often for toenail trims these days (that just needs to be done more often with older cats) so this came at a good time.

Kitty photos:

Verdict: I couldn't calculate a total value for the June VetPet Box for cats because not every item was for sale online. However, everything appealed to at least one cat, or was useful for at least one cat (if not more) and it was great to find a treat that Monkey liked, as he is not very food-motivated. Sneaky's interest in the butterfly and owl was not expected but was definitely welcome -- those were fun pictures to take, for sure.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? New subscribers usually get an introductory box. However, if you contact VetPet Box, you can get a past month’s box (like say you really want to get the dental one more than once, because your cat has bad teeth).

I had a 6 month sub to this box and was repeatedly disappointed to see less things in my box than yours. This month it was the Feliway travel spray which would have upped the value of the box considerably.

This review is for the multi-cat version. There is a single-cat version that costs a little less but doesn’t have as many items.

If you subscribe to the multi-cat version and aren’t getting the same items you should contact them for sure.
