Scent Box May 2020 Review
This month, I received a card featuring Scent Box’s “Scent of the Month.”
The information card usually has a little information about the men’s scent of the month on one side and the women’s on the other side. Based on the information card, I thought I might like the fragrance (was particularly interested in the cocoa):
In case I have not mentioned it in the past, you get a new holder every month and the fragrance is printed on a sticker on the bottom, and the holders tend to be different colors each month, so you can still keep them sorted out.
Although the scent I received did not match the card for the Scent of the Month, customer service confirmed this was an alternate Scent of the Month due to inventory issues:

This is the first time I have not received the scent of the month that doesn't match the card. It's definitely not something I would have chosen (I stay away from pretty much everything with "floral" in the name!). This also appears to be discontinued -- although Google turns up hits at retailers like Nordstrom and the manufacturer's e-commerce site, it isn't in stock at any of those.
Moving on. The top notes are all fruity (lemon, orange, bergamot, passionfruit, and peach). But this is definitely not a fruity fragrance on me, not even a little bit. Mid notes include lilac, jasmine, lotus, ozonic notes, melon, and lily of the valley, and it is these notes that absolutely predominate. This is a floral, floral fragrance on me. Base notes include woody notes, musk, amber, driftwood, and caramel, and that sounds like something I would love (I like woody notes and sweet notes quite a lot) but they are just overwhelmed by the florals. And I am just not a floral fragrance kind of person, with a few rare exceptions.
In reading some online reviews of this fragrance, it appears that it can come out very differently based on one's body chemistry, so if you read any of my reviews of fragrance boxes and find you've had a totally opposite experience to me for some other fragrance, this one might work for you. Alternatively, if you really like florals, this might work for you. It is just not a good fit for me.
I would say sillage was about average and longevity was somewhat on the low end, like you'd need to reapply it once or twice during the day.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $8.89. That is going to depend largely on what you choose for your queue and if you want to load it up with more expensive fragrances, you are certainly able to do that. My own feeling is that I would be happy with a lower-priced fragrance if it really worked for me. This one didn't, but that is a chance you take when you don't pick for yourself. I do like this month's holder. And don't forget, this subscription comes with free returns if you don't care for the fragrance you've selected, once you've tried it. So there is a bit less risk there.
