Emma and Chloe May 2020 french jewelry subscription box review

Emma & Chloe
3.3 overall rating

Emma & Chloé is a jewelry subscription service that sends a new piece of French jewelry every month.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Heads up! This box has had pretty significant shipping delays due to COVID-19.

It ships from France.

The Emma & Chloé packaging is beautiful and is useful for storage or gift giving. This month's box had a small dent in the corner, but it's still perfectly functional.

Emma & Chloé May 2020 Review

Again, this box has had pretty significant shipping delays due to COVID-19.

It ships from France.

This month's box did not have a booklet because the April and May booklets were combined. The images above are from my April review that recently posted. Here were my thoughts:

There is always a truly gorgeous booklet inside with beautiful pictures and more jewelry. This booklet is for both April and May, though the jewelry inside is only from April. I emailed customer care and they clarified that this book will be for both April and May, but that my May jewelry box has shipped separately. There are actually some fun behind the scenes details about this inside the book, and the photography from the May jewelry was taken by staff members at home. In typical fashion, they all still look flawless and pretty.

Let's peek inside!

Providence Necklace - Retail Value $70.00

I love a longer necklace and as a lifelong charm collector, I like the idea behind this piece, too. It features two charms on the sectioned chain. One is a rectangle filled with white enamel (that coordinates really well with my earrings from the April box!) and a round charm with a sun. The sun itself has a tiny black stone eye which is super tiny but still catches light. I like sun and eye iconography, especially as a solar Leo! The chain is really pretty, but does get little kinks in it because of the sections between the solid bars. It doesn't detract from the look for me personally. This necklace is designed in a manner that you cannot remove the charms, which is a good thing if you tend to lose them, but a negative if you prefer the versatility of wearing both or one at a time. I tend to like a layered look so I am fine with it!

I also feel like this necklace it totally on-trend because I am seeing so many smaller pendants and coin charms in gold looking very stylish right now. It is a nice change of pace from larger statement necklaces and looks more like a collection or memento. The length and delicate look of this piece also make it ideal for layering with other faves. Emma and Chloé pieces always seem to have a nice weight to them and well-done details, even though they are not fine jewelry. As someone who can't be out buying loads of the real stuff right now (or, really, ever...), I appreciate the quality and styling of this brand.

All Emma & Chloé pieces also come with a certificate of authenticity card plus care instructions on the back:

Verdict: I liked this month's necklace! It is one of those pieces that if I saw it in a store or online, I might not really reach for it, but if I saw it on someone else I would be obsessed with it. I am glad it ended up in my collection because between the length and the little layered charms, I am way into it.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will likely receive the July box. From Emma & Chloé:

"The first piece you’ll receive is the piece of the month you were first charged for. So if you order before the 31st of the month you will receive your box between the 5th and the 15th of the following month."

ACTIVE DEAL: Use code BOX-50 to get 50% off your first box when you sign up for a month-to-month subscription or Box5 to get first box of an annual subscription for $5
CODE: BOX-50

Value Breakdown: Each month you're getting one piece of jewelry for $35.00. This necklace has a listed value of $70.00, meaning you save $35.00 (about 50%) with this subscription.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Very nice. I’ve always liked the originality of this sub, and though the quality can at times be questionable (given the rather high price), overall it’s worth it, I think. I have several pieces from my year-long subscription that I still wear and most are still in good condition. Certainly it’s nice to receive subscription box jewelry that isn’t of horribly cheap quality with ludicrously high claimed RV (I’m looking at you, FFF).
