Merkaela "Alignment" Box Spring 2020 Review

This season's theme is "Alignment" and it encourages self-reflection and calibration. This is a time of growth! It also came with a mantra card.

Patchouli Meditation Elixer, 2 oz - Listed Value $18.50

I really enjoy scented mists and patchouli is one of my favorite earthy scents. This bottle contains patchouli essential oil, rosemary extract, purified water, and moon energy. You can use it during meditation or really anytime! I like to save mists like this to use on my sheets before crawling into bed. They add a lot of relaxation and comfort.

Chamomile Body Butter, 4 oz - Listed Value $30.00

Merkaela makes a great body butter and the light and whipped texture is pretty amazing. In the past, a few of these have felt on the greasy side but this one seems to be much improved in that regard! It feels like a dream on my dry legs and knees after a shower and before tucking to bed. The shea, hemp oil, and olive oil provide moisture for hours after application during the day, too! The scent is probably not going to be for everyone, but I adore it and would wear it as a perfume! Instead of a light chamomile scent, it has more of a smoked herbal fragrance that is moody and sophisticated.

Stardust Clay Mask, 2 oz - Listed Value $18.00

Anyone else out there have a bad case of maskne? That is a cute name for the not-at-all-cute blemishes that have popped up along my jawline. While I generally avoid clay-heavy masks on my entire face, this is just the ticket for some deep cleaning detox power on my lower cheeks and chin. I mixed some of the pretty pink clay with some water in my favorite mask bowl, and applied with a flat brush. The clays inside (kaolin and bentonite) work to draw up sickness from my pores while the inclusion of turmeric helps prevent inflammation. This mask also has a very nice and earthy scent thanks to the addition of sandalwood. After rinsing off with warm water, my face felt smoother, calmer, and less red.

Rose Herbal Tea, 12-14 tsp - Retail Value $8.50

I am a tea addict so I am always thrilled when some arrives in a box. This is a really pretty herbal blend of chamomile, rose petals, orange peel, oat straw, lemon balm, lavender, and stevia. Mmm! As you might guess, the vibe here is very soft and floral, and since it is caffeine-free, it is an ideal before-bed indulgence.

Here is what it looks like brewing!

Luminous Exfoliator, 2 oz - Retail Value $14.00

I tend to avoid salt scrubs on my face because they are too harsh, but I do like scrubs like this for my legs and arms. This is a soft smelling blend of organic salt, rice oil, vitamin E, and geranium essential oil. The sea salt size is larger, and it feels great rubbed in circles on my skin. The geranium oil leaves behind a pleasant scent.

Patchouli Rose Soap Bar, 3.5 oz - Listed Value $9.50

I am happy to see more patchouli in this box! Combine this scent with rose? So good!! This soap has such an earthy scent and it fills my shower when I use it. This is a moisturizing soap that I also love to use instead of shaving cream on my legs.

Palo Santo - Listed Value $5.00

Palo Santo is one of my husband's favorite scents in our home, but I think it is really important to make sure yours is ethically sourced. This little bundle is both "sustainably sourced and ethically wildcrafted" according to the card. We like to burn this very special wood during times of happiness and thankfulness or stressful times when we need grounding or clarity. As this is a sacred wood, it should be handled with respect and with intention.

Affirmation Card

I place my beliefs in alignment with the experiences I wish to have. I am attuned to my higher purpose, and my life reflects this refinement. My life is beautiful, and more beauty is revealed to me each day.

The Verdict: This was a really lovely Merkaela box. The formulas and scents felt so special and the emphasis on self-care is welcome right now. I found the affirmation card to be really on-point for me right now, as I (like a lot of people) feel a little like I am just floating around in space and trying to figure out what life is supposed to look like after such a wild year. The scents inside were all comforting and grounding, and I love that so many of these items could be used together in a procession to bed if you started with the soap and scrub, treated yourself to a mask, moisturized your skin with the body butter, and drifted off to sleep with the scent of Palo Santo in the air after a cup of tea. Dreamy! This is a more expensive box but the quality and curation make it a great choice if you are looking for a high-quality and quarterly indulgence.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Thank you for this lovely review.

I was very disappointed with the previous box and decided I would cancel my annual subscription. However, this box totally restored my faith in its quality and decided to renew my subscription. I much prefer it when Merkaela sticks to its products rather than going external for a few items which looks cheaper making me feel like I could have just gotten that from Amazon. But this box was an absolute winner! I would love it if they included the Jasmine body butter in the next box and just stick to their own range.

Now I know why this fell off my radar… all of their emails have been going to my spam folder! I guess after seeing this review, Merkaela is back in the memory bank, and when I was viewing my spam folder this morning (which I do daily just to make sure something wasn’t put in there by accident) I saw an email from Merkaela with this discount code… if it wasn’t for this review I probably would have not even noticed it, lol. I don’t think I’ll be signing up quite yet though.

It is the same as it’s always been. This is one of the most consistent subscription boxes that I know of, personally. The quality remains the same…products the same…if one liked it before, one can pick up at any time and like it once again whenever they decide to re-activate.

This is definitely one of my favorite subscriptions. I love their body butters and sprays…everything is nice. Once I open the box, I am overcome with such lush, soothing scents.

Thanks for reviewing this! I forgot all about it. I got a few of these boxes a couple of years ago and really enjoyed them. I might have to get it again.

I was thinking the same thing 🙂 I had forgotten about this box, and I was subbed for a few boxes about 2 or 3 years ago, and loved it!

What a dreamy box! I felt calmer after reading your description of each item, ha! That tea is so pretty on its own–would be a pretty potpourri! Do people still do that? My grandma often had a bowl sitting out. 🙂
