Lillypost always sends us a set of Finnley the Fox stickers along with a little note that introduces their coloring contest for the month. Kids can draw directly on the box and incorporate Finnley into the monthly theme, then share it on social media for a chance to win a prize. This month’s theme is "In the Kitchen" and they provided a list of activities we can do, which is great for this time when we are all stuck at home!

Things That Go: A Playful Shape Book by Rainstorm Publishing - Retail Value $9.99 (found here for $8.99)
My youngest son (2) is the only one of my kids who hasn't really taken to books just yet, but he LOVED this one. He looks at the pictures all the time and he has brought it to my husband and me to read to him over and over again. It does help that he is obsessed with cars and vehicles right now, but we legitimately had to hide the book from him last night because we had each read it to him a good ten times and needed a break! The book is very simple and features pages of several things that "go" including hot air balloons, cars, and tractors. There are cut-outs for some objects and then they take the cut out and put it on the opposite page for a raised effect making it a fun tactile book as well. There are lots of colors and objects to point out making it a great book for a young reader!

Amazing Animal Babies by Chris Packham - Retail Value $14.95 (found here for $12.85)
I wish you could have seen how excited my 3-year-old son was to see this book! He is creature obsessed and is constantly spouting off facts and knowledge about animals (yesterday he told me his monkey was hanging by its prehensile tail) so this book could not have been more perfect for him. This is a fun book that talks about baby animals and gives facts with plenty of great illustrations. The range of animals is terrific too, from meerkats to Komodo dragons to more common animals like elephants. They even covered earthworms and the fact that they are hermaphrodites, which may be a pretty advanced concept for some kiddos, just a heads up! Strange facts are his favorite, so my son enjoyed learning about it all. In the back, there is a section where it lists all of the animals and provides a little bit more information about each one adding to the great educational value of this book!

Oola the Owl Who Lost Her Hoot! by Sue Fliess - Retail Value $15.99
Our last book was a cute story about an owl who had lost her hoot. She goes in search of it, even trying out a few different sounds from other animals along the way which are quite comical. My daughter really liked this one and I loved the artwork in this book! This story was cute and sweet, and since my daughter is just learning to read, we appreciated the big bold text that they used so that she could help read along.
Verdict: I am so amazed at how perfectly tailored to my kids our Lillypost books are each month! It has to be purely coincidence, but it makes the experience so fun when I see that the books are ones that I know my kids will enjoy and be excited by! The mix of books that they send is so great, too, since there is a little bit of everything. The baby animals book was pretty special for us this month because it is such a great educational book that was full of engaging information and my son was thrilled with it! The total retail value of our books came to $40.93 ($37.83 with sale prices) which is pretty great for a $24.90 ($19.95 + $4.95 shipping) box. Especially since this month's books were so perfect for my kiddos!
