TheraBox includes a mini-magazine highlighting the ingredients to happiness included in each month’s box. It includes a note from the editor, opportunities to win free boxes, a list of all the items included in this month’s box, and TheraBox FAQs. I love that TheraBox provides a description of each product, a link to the product’s website, the cost of the item, and a coupon code if available.

NCLA & TheraBox Nail Wraps by NCLA Beauty – Estimated Value $10 (based on similar styles found here)

Am I the only person that just does not understand nail wraps? I have tried them a few times before and they never seem to turn out nicely. These were no exception. I also didn't love the design that was created exclusively for TheraBox with NCLA. The instructions recommend starting by putting a coat of clear polish on, and then placing the sticker on each nail based on size. You can then use the included nail file to make the perfect shape and fit. I had a really hard time finding a sticker to fit each nail and the file didn't seem to help me shape it just sort of bent the wrap. I feel as though I am being way too harsh, but I was simply not happy with the quality and fit. I would rather take the time to paint my nails with polish or just use a clear coat if I want to make my nails look nice.

Rosa Damascena Biocellulose Peel Mask by Midflower – Listed Value $15 (Buy a box of 3 here for $45)

I received this mask in a different beauty box a few months ago and absolutely loved it! The mask really adds life to your skin, leaving you with a healthy glow that feels silky smooth. This peel mask is made with 15 ml of Rosa Damascena water and is meant to minimize pores, brighten, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. For me, this mask really just provided an intense hydration that my skin absolutely needed! The mask was super thin and sticky like a gel so it sticks to your face really well. All in all a great mask and a fun way to take a moment to yourself to relax!

Discover Yourself by The Happy Shoppe – Listed Value $15

These cards are so beautiful and could not have come at a better time. Each card has a question of the day that is meant as a way for you to reconnect with the inner you. Each question requires reflection in some way, big or small, and really allows you to take a moment to yourself. I have found that taking a card and writing down my answers in a journal is a great way to reflect and get my answers and feelings out on paper. Being at home in our social distancing for over a month now, taking moments to reflect on the little moments and myself personally or just where my mind is right now is so important. I am so glad these arrived when they did and maybe one day I will look back at these cards and my journal entry.

Multi-Use Body Wash Infused Buffer by Spongelle, 3 oz. – Retail Value $16

I received one of these sponges a few years ago and absolutely loved it so I was excited to give this one a try! The scent is very clean and fresh, not too floral or overpowering in any way, which I love. The part that I love about this buffer is that it cleanses while also exfoliating your skin. It is infused with a rich moisturizer and cleanser along with yuzu, edelweiss, and vetiver root extracts. My skin felt hydrated, clean, and so very smooth. I will be honest, my skin is in bad shape after this long stretch of cold weather here in Pittsburgh, but I actually felt like my skin had a nice glow to it after using this buffer. This would make a great addition to any spa lover's bath or shower.

Truffle Therapy Whipped Cleansing Cream by Skin & Co, 3.38 fl. oz. – Retail Value $28

I am surprised by how much I am loving this cleansing cream! I have been using this as the first step in my cleansing routine as a way to remove makeup, dirt, and cleanse, while still nourishing my skin. The cream is a very thick gel-like texture that is highly concentrated so you need to rinse really well to get everything removed, which is most likely why I have been liking this best as the first part of my cleansing process. It is very gentle on my skin and has left me looking hydrated with a nice healthy glow! The only thing I had to get used to was the smell as it had a heavy coconut smell, almost like a tanning bed that I didn't like, but it has really grown on me over the past week or so. I have been using this only once a day in the evening, but am so pleased with the results. The bottle recommends taking the following steps for best use:

Squeeze a quarter-sized dollop of Whipped Cleansing Cream into palm of hand, apply to damp or dry skin.  Massage for 30 seconds or longer to effectively remove makeup, oil, dirt, and impurities. Remove Whipped Cleansing Cream with cotton round to erase makeup or rinse off with warm water to thoroughly cleanse skin.

Hair Treatment Mask by Skin Chemists, 6.76 fl oz. – Listed Value $75

You could have received one of three types of masks this month: either Biotin, Caffeine & Collagen, Keratin Infused Anti-Breakage, or Caffeine Infused Thickening. I happened to receive the Biotin, Caffeine & Collagen Infused Treatment. These masks are meant to help hydrate, thicken, and repair your hair. So if you have breakage, hair loss, or split ends then this is the mask for you! All you have to do is apply the mask to clean hair, brush it through, let sit for 10 minutes, then rinse. I will start by saying that this mask just was not for me for a few different reasons. Application of masks like this is very tricky for me because I have super thick curly hair so I cannot get a brush through damp hair, I need a lot of conditioner and leave-in in order to get a brush through it. So the directions were not something that I could truly follow because brushing it through my hair just couldn't happen. I decided to let this sit on my hair a bit longer since I couldn't brush it through, but I will say that I got it covered on my hair nicely. My second issue with this is more of a personal one again. The mask that I received is made with biotin which I have a lot of experience with using and know that it does not work well in my hair. While it does help to smooth and combat frizz and can repair your hair, I do not like what it does to the feel of my hair and the shape of my curls. This left my hair feeling like straw, almost sticky, and leaves my curls looking flat and lifeless. I could see myself using this on my ends only, but I wouldn't be able to use this once a week since it doesn't give me the curl and bounce that my hair has naturally. Overall, my concerns with this product were way more personal based on my hair type so I would absolutely recommend giving this one a try for yourself if you can!

Day Moisturizer by Organic & Botanic, 2.11 fl oz. – Listed Value $24

This is another product that you could have received in either Amazonian Berry Protecting, Madagascan Coconut Preserving, or Mandarin Orange Enhancing. I received the Amazonian Berry Protecting Day Moisturizer, made to soothe damaged skin while brightening and hydrating. This was a super lightweight moisturizer that went on nicely and left my skin with a healthy glow. Right now, my skin is very dry so I couldn't see myself using this on its own until the summer when I don't need as much moisturizer. There was a light fruity smell to this and I love that is a vegan and free from animal testing brand as well.

I'm In Love Rose Blossom Hand Cream by Fox Corporation, 1.69 fl. oz. – Retail Value $7

I know we all have been washing our hands like crazy so a solid moisturizer is a must! This hand cream is the perfect size and is currently sitting on the window in front of my kitchen sink so that I can apply and reapply all day long. It has a floral scent that is powerful without being overpowering, if that makes sense. It is made with rose, aloe, centella asiatica, oat kernel, and argan oil so it is light while providing a nice moisture. All in all a great item to have on hand right now!

The Verdict: This month's TheraBox was a mixed bag for me. I normally find that even if I don't love a product, I still find some use for it or someone to pass the items along to, but this month felt like there were more items that I was pretty blah about. The nail wraps were just a mess for me, and maybe that is just me, but I just did not enjoy the process of trying to make them work on my nails. The hair mask and the day moisturizer were nice to try, but weren't anything that blew me away. The body buffer was a fun item to use again as well as the mask which are both items I have received before. I would say that my favorite items from this month were the cleanser which I was very surprised by and the moisturizer. This month's estimated retail value is $190 making this box an awesome deal considering the $39.98 price ($34.99 + $4.99 shipping). While I wasn't in love with the products this month, the overall value is great, and I do enjoy having my own little spa day testing each of the products.

I wished Therabox had more direct type of therapy items inside, instead of mainly self care items. I know that self care is a huge part of mental well being, but it seems you could get the beauty/skincare/nail items in so many other boxes who specialize in offering beauty/skincare/bath items. The kintsugi cards are really beautiful and are a cool offering. I wish they offered more items like this – how about a journal with prompts, or those journals that you wreck, a self help book that the mental health community believes in, fiddle toys/gadgets, relaxation & mindfulness music, free months of the headspace app or other similar paid apps, etc. I just would rather see more items that specifically address mental health, than self care items you could find in many other beauty boxes.

The Mindwander subscription box is heavier on the therapeutic items and lighter on the lotions and nail products. I switched to them for the this exact reason.

I didn’t know that sub existed – thank you for recommending it! It looks to be more up my alley!

Next months box has a “More Self Love Journal” that you may find interesting. I was meh about this months box but as I’m using everything in it I’m finding it was just right for me.

Just a comment about the nail wraps. NCLA nail wraps are terrible. They are too thick and don’t stick well. If you want to give nail wraps another try, get Incoco or Sally Hansen ones. They’re made with actual nail polish, and work much better.

I agree. These nail wraps are much too thick. The Sally Hansen ones are amazing. So easy to use.

I love Therabox. I got a lavender Spongelle. Nail wraps are great if you use ColorStreet. They are made of real polish and are easier to get a good look. I wish I could post a picture to show you. The hair mask was just ok. With a retail value of $75 I expected more. Admittedly my hair is fried after bleaching last September and going to my natural gray color. I left the mask on for an hour. My hair absorbed a lot, but was still pretty dry afterwards. I’m giving the hand cream away because I detest anything rose scented. I love the cards. Everything else was added to my stash to try later.
