Style Plan by Frank And Oak Review - March 2020

Marne in sweatshirt and jeans from Frank and Oak

Here is one of the simple outfits I put together from this month's box.

The Hybrid Crewneck in Grey, size medium - Retail Value $79.50/Member Price $69.50

I simply cannot resist a slouchy grey sweatshirt and this raglan made of 79% Drirelease® polyester, 14% organic cotton, and 7% spandex is no exception. I've been doing an incredible amount of lounging these past few weeks since working from home, so I am going through sweats, leggings, and sweatshirts like you wouldn't believe. This crewneck is very lightweight and a little more of a heavy tee than what I'd expect in a sweatshirt. That means this will be a good spring wardrobe item into the early summer when I really start missing my heavier sweatshirts. The heather grey color is a staple of my closet and this stretchy fabric makes it super comfy. I'd say that this runs a bit oversized, so going to a size small would have been a wiser choice for me.

The Transit Debbie Skinny Jean in Indigo, size 31 - Retail Value $119.00/Member Price $107.50

This pair of jeans is the Debbie fit from Frank And Oak's In-Transit series which features comfortable and smart clothing to travel in. The Debbie is high-waisted and has a tapered leg which is my favorite style. The denim is made with Coolmax® technology and there are some slit pockets above the regular pockets that stealthily fit a credit card, ID, or cash. There's also a hidden beltloop inside one of the front pockets that I can attach keys to and a secret zipper pocket in the back pocket for another place to stash cash while traveling. These are perfect for me since I wear jeans every day of my life but sometimes yearn for the comfort of sweats while flying or sitting in a car for long periods of time. The denim is super soft and ultra-stretchy so it's sort of the best of both worlds. I found these to fit slightly larger than the other jeans I've tried from Frank And Oak so I'd suggest sizing down.

Marne in Striped tee

The Good Cotton Boy Tee in White, size medium - Retail Value $34.50/Member Price $32.50

For the next article of clothing, I decided to go with a classic striped tee because I was so jealous of my boyfriend Kurt's tee from last month. Frank And Oak's tees are some of my favorites I own because they're so incredibly soft and well-made. This particular one is made with Good Cotton which is made with responsible cotton grown and harvested with sustainable methods. I like how long the sleeves are which I think is what gives is the "boy tee" name. Long enough to tuck in, and super breathable, this is going to be wearable all year round.

2-Pack Striped Frilly Socks in Multi, one size - Retail Value $19.50/Member Price $17.50

How freaking adorable are these frilly striped socks?! I love picking up socks in my Style Plan box because I always need them and a two-pack is even better. The set comes with a pair of mustard and a pair of black socks that are a thin material that has raised stipes, a rolled cuff, and are made with 100% organic cotton. I'd much rather wear organic cotton than polyester since these will be a whole lot more breathable and keep my feet more comfortable.

Quarter Length Ribbed Socks in Mauve, one size - Retail Value $12.50/Member Price $11.50

Truth be told, these snuck into my box without me realizing (my error) until I had already confirmed my Style Plan box. Now that they're here though, I'm glad they did. Mauve is one of my favorite colors and these ribbed socks are made with 76% organic cotton, 15% Cool-Plus polyester, 7% spandex, 2% elastane. They're super comfy and are perfect for transitional seasons.

Verdict: This month's Style Plan by Frank And Oak sent me a full outfit to wear, from head to toe. I tried and ended up loving the perfect travel jeans, and I got some other wardrobe staples for whether I'm lounging around the house or for future days when I'm more apt to leave the house for lunch. Not only did my stylists select clothing that is right up my alley, but they're all made with interesting technology, new ideas, and sustainable materials.

Gabbi

Hey Marne. I know you usually wear a 10 in bottoms, and the jeans say they’re a size 31 but you say they run big. So are you exchanging for a smaller size? I have lost weight and am about a 10/30 now so wondering what size would be best. Thank you 🙂

Sorry I didn’t see this before, Gabbi!
Since these are super stretchy and meant to be more comfortable, I would suggest going down 1 size. It’s so hard to say since I can wear anywhere from a 29-31 in jeans. I’ve tried their other 31s that were VERY tight, but fit. These still fit, just tend to slip down a bit while wearing, meaning the waist is larger than their other 31s. Hope that helps!

I love the style of this sub but I wish they had more sizes. I can do an XL in tops but bottoms i usually need an XXL. Thank you for the great review. Those travel jeans really look amazing as I love pockets!

Hey Dawn- agreed! I really wish they had a wider size range than they do. I am at the top of their jean sizing in some styles and that seems strange.
