Ecocentric Mom January 2020 Review

Mudpuppy Bag Tag - Retail Value $12.79

Last month, I received a duplicate item (a small toy airplane) and this is the airplane item that I should have received, which they were kind enough to send this month. I was under the impression that I would be receiving a toy to go along with the Kid-O Myland Friends that I received since they don't work without the accompanying toy, so this was a bit disappointing, although still really cute and nice quality. Since this was meant to be included in last month's box, I will not be counting it towards the total value of this box.

Let's see what we received for this month:

Kitten Learns to Listen by Rosie Greening - Retail Value $3.99

The book is a cute and vibrant story about Kitten who keeps missing out on things because she forgets to listen. This book is meant to be a way to engage children in further discussion about the importance of listening and paying attention and even inclues a little parent guide in the back with notes and a list of questions you can ask your child. While the story itself  is fairly simple and the pictures are large and colorful enough to engage my 22-month-old, I think the discussion aspect may be a bit above his understanding at the moment.

Begin Again Bathtub Pals Crab – Retail Value $4.99

We have a few of these bathtub pals already and they are a favorite bath toy, so my kids were excited to see another one for our collection. This is made from sustainably harvested natural rubber and features a hole at the mouth and underneath to ensure drainage so that mold doesn't build up inside. They are also dishwasher safe which is a nice bonus!

Itzy Ritzy Reusable Snack Pouch - Retail Value $7.99

We have a few different sized reusable snack pouches already, but the ones from this brand are our favorite! This one is a great size and a perfectly neutral pattern. This bag measures 7"x7" and has a 100% cotton outer layer with a wipeable, food-grade EVA layer inside that is free from BPA, lead, PVC, and phthalates. These pouches actually keep snacks fresh and can be machine washed, which I love!

Naturally Vain Rosey Cheeks Facial Scrub, 2 fl oz - Estimated Value $5.27 (Buy a full size for $10.54)

This facial scrub had some nice pretty rose petals at the top and even a little bit of glitter which made for a nice presentation. The scrub itself is thick and creamy and provides a light exfoliation from the bits of apricot shells it contains. It was definitely not too rough, but even so, my skin felt a bit raw afterward. It didn't look irritated, but I think maybe there is something in this one that my skin doesn't agree with!

BeeNaturalz Lavender Honey Magnesium Bath Soak, 8 oz. - Estimated Value $21.00 (based on similar products)

I recently learned that most people are deficient in magnesium and I have actually been trying to up my magnesium intake so I was happy to see this nice soak with lavender and honey to help with that! You can see this is a nice chunky soak full of salt, oats and little bits of lavender. The scent is very light and fairly neutral, so I think those that don't enjoy lavender might still be able to use this one. I'm looking forward to a nice, relaxing soak with this!

Wicked Good Perfume Roll On in English Pear & Freesia - Retail Value $14.95

I am already a huge Wicked Good Perfume fan (read my reviews of their monthly subscription here) so I was very happy to see this beautiful little perfume roller! Not only is the label oh so pretty, but the scent itself is equally as pretty! This English pear and freesia perfume is a light and airy floral scent that has me thinking of spring. The freesia is front and center with this one and it wears well, lasting a few hours before fading to more of a subtle sweet pear scent. I think I have a new favorite perfume!

Verdict: This month's Ecocentric Mom box was a great balance between mama and baby. The book and crab bath toy were both great for baby and I loved the pampering items for mom this month with the magnesium soak and the facial scrub, even if my skin didn't quite agree with it. I am very happy to have received two products from companies I already know and love in the snack bag and the wonderful perfume roller. I am estimating the total value of this box to be about $58.19 which is pretty good for a $36.99 (plus free shipping) box!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
