Switch is a jewelry rental service that lets you try out designer jewelry without the commitment. You pick your favorite pieces and try them out for as long as you want with a relatively small monthly fee. This is a review of the 3 pieces at a time plan. Switch also offers the option to purchase jewelry pieces at a discounted member price. For every month that you’re a member, you get a $10 credit that you can use towards the purchase of a piece of jewelry at the special member price.

This is a review of the $69 Black Membership that includes 3 pieces a month.

Switch offers free Priority shipping via USPS (1-3 day expected arrival). Each package comes with a prepaid USPS return label, so you can leave your return for your mail carrier or drop it off at the post office if you’re the nervous type. Shipping is free both ways, and they just ask that you package your items just as they were received to return them. It’s important to save the mailer and packaging for your return.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Switch Subscription Box December 2019 Review

Everything arrived in a super slick and very high-end looking black box. Inside, there were multiple info cards explaining all the deets about this subscription. All of these cards are really informative and helpful in explaining all the facets of this service. They cover care tips, return instructions, and even a guide if you fall head over heels in love with a piece, which... does... happen.

Let's see what I picked this month!

Gucci Silver Bamboo Cuff Bracelet – Retail Value $665.00, Member Price $465.00

Megan picked a cuff? Shocking. But this is not just any cuff. This is a Gucci bamboo cuff in sterling silver. It isn't as heavy as it looks because it isn't totally solid, but it certainly is hefty and structured. This bangle is not adjustable but it fit my wrist just fine (it is a little over 6.25 inches around at the smallest point). It also makes me feel super fancy while I wear it and is one of those pieces that could be worn day or night with nearly anything! As someone who isn't typically into labels all over my clothing and accessories, this is a nice way to wear something incredibly identifiable and trendy while still feeling very classic.

Why are you so pretty??

Cult Gaia Meta Earrings in Pearl – Retail Value $138.00, Member Price $130.00

I knew these were long, but WOW. I need a neck about twice the length of mine to feel like I can pull these off. The design is what spoke to me; I have never seen any earrings quite like these! The freshwater pearls were another element I was really drawn to. I think if the pearl strands on these were about half as long or even looped, I would be so much more into them. Regardless, I love the super modern look, and the contrast of the bright gold plated tubes with the pearls is lovely.

I think I need a longer neck.

Tiffany & Co Five Teardrop Station Necklace – Retail Value $450.00, Member Price $360.00

This last piece was a little bit of a nostalgic choice for me. My mom bought me a single Tiffany Teardrop necklace back in high school and I always loved it. It was one of the first little special charms I started layering with and will always be very sentimental for me. This shorter necklace has 5 of these drops and is so cute on. It is lightweight, but each of the teardrops is heavy for their size, and they give this necklace a lot of movement.

This is exactly the sort of necklace I would wear all the time!

The Verdict: My Switch assortment this month had 2 incredibly classic sterling pieces then some crazy modern earrings. Though I was less than in love with the earrings themselves, I thought the design was super cool and so very different than anything I had ever worn. The Gucci cuff was a no brainer. I loved it. I am going to dread returning it. So is my relationship with cuffs I can't afford! I also loved the dainty little necklace for sentimental reasons and also because it is a timeless style.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Pieces can get snatched up quickly, and the number of pieces they have per style varies. You may or may not see these pieces in their available inventory list – but you might just see something you like even more! This isn’t a “styled” subscription, meaning you can pick exactly what you want from the available list – it’s not selected for you based on an algorithm or your preferences.

Value Breakdown: In this shipment, I tried out $1253.00 of jewelry for $69 – which is about 5.5% of their retail value and a great deal if it works for your budget and needs. It’s pricier than Rocksbox (which offers mid-range designer jewelry) but less than Rent the Runway (which offers designer jewelry, accessories, and clothes, too).

I agree that the cuff is gorgeous but even 465.00 is too much for that cuff used. The Realreal has the identical cuff for about 250.00 or less. I’ve purchased high-end designer pieces from the Realreal that are in great condition and cost a lot less than anything I’ve seen in this sub. It’s fun as a rental but I don’t think purchasing the pieces from this service makes any sense, especially as they all show signs of wear.
