January 2020 No Make No Life "Refreshing New Year" Review

The booklet gives you detailed information on each item, as well as instructions on how to use certain products. This month's theme is 'Refreshing New Year.'

Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Mask - Retail Value $3.15 (currently out of stock)

This mask was so cool! You could have received it in gold, pink, or green - I received the gold. This mask is made of honey extract to help moisturize, firm, and revitalize your skin. Plus, the mask itself is made of a honeycombed hologram fabric, how fun! Winter is always rough on my dry skin so I love seeing something that is dedicated to providing extra moisture. The mask itself had a great amount of serum on it and had a light honey scent that was so sweet and delicious! I left my mask on for 20 minutes and was left with a lovely healthy glow.

Kracie Rose Candy - Retail Value $2.13 (currently out of stock)

What a sweet surprise! This hard candy had a crunchy outer layer and a gummy center. I was instantly hit with a very floral flavor that tasted very much like rose potpourri would smell, which was interesting. The fun part about this candy is that they are good for you! These candies are filled with collagen, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. So they are good for your hair and skin as well as being yummy!

Beauty World Yoghurt Face Pack - Retail Value $3.63 (currently out of stock)

This mask was very interesting because it comes out more like a moisturizer. The booklet recommends applying this cream to your face, leaving it on for 5 to 10 minutes, rinsing, and continuing with your usual beauty routine. For best results, it suggests using this mask pack 2 to 3 times a week. I received the yuzu, which smelled so fresh and clean, but you could have also received strawberry or peach. Applying this yoghurt mask leaves my face feeling fresh and extra moisturized, which I really appreciate! I used this entire pack already and have noticed a difference in my extra dry spots.

Jasmine Hair Cream - Retail Value $2.67 (currently out of stock)

This hair cream was a fun surprise since I haven't seen too many hair products come along lately. This cream is made with oils and other natural ingredients to help moisturize your hair, leaving it healthy and shiny! I really thought I liked the smell of jasmine, but this product had such a strong floral scent to it, it was almost too strong for me to handle. I used this cream on my ends when my hair was halfway dry. My hair is very curly so I use a good amount of other products and a pretty intense conditioner so I can't say that I noticed a huge difference after using this product a few times, but it is most likely something that you need to use a bit longer to see a big difference over time.

Pure Vivi Moisturizing Cleansing Foam - Retail Value $7.43 (currently out of stock)

The booklet notes that this foaming cleanser is made with amino acids that work to help remove your makeup and dirt. Plus, the foam provides extra moisture into your skin! I can't say that I was blown away by this cleanser, but I have a facewash that I have been using since I was 17 that I am in love with so it is hard to impress me in the face wash department. It did remove my makeup nicely and left my skin feeling fresh and clean!

Farmstay Princess Waterproof Eyeliner - Retail Value $8.86 (currently out of stock)

I did a cat-eye liner every day for probably close to 10 years so I really appreciate a good liquid liner like this one! I got really good at the perfect wing, but have been out of practice for many years now. This liner is waterproof so you won't get any smudges or running! The wand is pretty long so you need a steady hand to make sure you don't get the liquid all over the place, but with a little practice it went on easily for me. The liner does go on very wet so be sure to let it dry before opening your eyes or else it will go everywhere, trust me!

Lucky Wink Hair Curlers - Retail Value $3.91

These curlers are great to use without having to apply heat and they are meant to go in and out smoothly without damaging your hair. I have naturally curly hair and am usually not able to straighten my hair these days so I don't know if I will get a ton of use out of these. However, my niece loves new beauty products and curling her long locks so I passed these along to her!

Mystery Item: Whip Cream Facewash

My mystery item was a whip cream facewash that you make on your own! The directions were super easy to follow. You just pour in one of the two powder packets, fill with water to the marked line, and then use the mixer to mash everything together. Mine didn't come out as "whipped" as I would have thought, instead it looked more like foam. Since the jar is larger I had a hard time getting the amount of face wash out without wasting the rest and making a bit of a mess. The wash itself smelled very fresh and clean and removed my makeup nicely. While I don't think this product is for me, it was really fun mixing my own facewash together!

Verdict: No Make No Life Box was a bit of a miss for me this month. I absolutely loved the December box, but this month's felt less special, even though the retail value came in higher. With it being the New Year, I was hoping for a bit more variety in the products featured. I loved the eyeliner and face masks, but I found the curlers and candy to be slightly off in terms of curation. The total retail value for this month's box comes to $31.78, about $3.22 shy of the $35 monthly cost. While I didn't love this month's product curation and the overall quality of each item, I'm always excited to see what NMNL will offer and can't wait to see what February will bring!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you'll receive the February box.

I skipped this month’s box, simply because I didn’t care for the rose flavored candy, and the hair curlers are useless for me since I have 3c curly hair. I was impressed with November’s box, but December’s box was a miss for me. But February’s box is looking good, so I am excited for that.
