MINTD Mystery Stocking Filler Box January 2020 Review

Verso No.9 Lip Serum, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $65

This lip serum has the texture of a thinner lip balm rather than what you would think for a serum, and it is made with retinol 8, turmeric, and peptides to fight fine lines around your lips and plump the thin skin. This also has cocoa and shea butter, and it really is incredibly nourishing in the short term while those ingredients work on long term benefits. At night I like to layer this under my super thick lip balm (one of my holy grails, the Beth Collins M.D. Pour La Bouche), and in the morning I apply it after I have done a lip scrub to soak in before applying lipstick. As a bonus, the value of this item alone is just about even with the cost of the entire box.

Neom Organics Nourish, Breathe, & Energize Hand Balm, 1.7 oz - Retail Value $20

I am just an anxious person by nature, so while I don’t diffuse essential oils in my apartment I am all about the aromatherapy in my body products. This hand cream is made with cocoa butter and shea butter for deep nourishment, but it still sank into my skin quickly without leaving them feeling greasy. This hand cream has a total of 17 essential oils to help you feel refreshed and energized, but the high notes in the scent are grapefruit, lemon, and rosemary. I have been using both this hand cream and the lip serum in my nightly routine, and it is a nice ritual that cares for my body while also helping me wind down.

de Mamiel Altitude Oil, 0.34 oz - Retail Value $48

This is one of the most expensive essential oil blends I have ever seen, and I love it- when I think of MINTD I think of luxury beauty products, and I feel that is exactly what this is. Also, does the packaging remind anyone else a little of Rose et Marius? This oil is designed to help you clear any congestion in your sinuses and boost your immune system thanks to the homeopathic properties, and the blend of lemon myrtle, lavender, eucalyptus, patchouli, and peppermint really is a refreshing scent that helps to give me a small mental boost.

Verdict: I have been wanting to get my hands on the monthly box from MINTD, so getting to try this mystery box was a real treat. While the products themselves may look small in size, all three are full size and focus on giving you multiple benefits whether its short-term lip nourishment and long-term fine line reduction in the wrinkle serum or nourishing your hands with the hand balm while also nurturing your senses. All of the products in the mystery boxes were random, and there were no guarantees two boxes would be alike. If you received the same box I did and didn't love the Verso lip serum, you may not be feeling as enthusiastic as I am about the overall box. Also, the value of this mystery box is definitely there too- I calculated a total value of $133, which is a few dollars over the promised value of £100.00 ($130.90).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you order today? Yes, as of publication this is still available.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $74.25 USD with the cost of the box plus shipping, and I calculated a value of $133. That means you're paying approximately the following per item.

  • Verso Lip Serum: $36.28
  • Neom Organics Hand Balm: $11.16
  • de Mamiel Altitude Oil: $26.79

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

They have some of their previous boxes on sale this month in their gift store. Am thinking of purchasing one or two.

I’d be upset to get a lip oil, hand balm, and a sinus clearing emulsion. It just seems like not a lot of bang for the buck. I want skincare not products the brands have a hard time selling. I guess it can’t all be serums, masks, and moisturizers but dang it if at least one product should be.

Thank you for reviewing this box Jessica 🙂 I had forgotten about this mystery box. I was subbed to Mintd quite regularly for a few years, but last Spring decided to take it by spoiler. Unfortunately, the only boxes that appealed enough to me to re-sub were when I was in my no-sub buy period. Lol I hope they keep these mystery boxes as a regular thing, because I could totally see myself getting one if I feel I need a Mintd fix. 😉 I think I’m good now, but maybe in Spring I’d try one if I haven’t subbed to one of their boxes before then. 🙂

I expected more from Mindt box.
For me most expensive oil African Botanics face oil that was in Boxwalla box and is absolutely amazing. I wish the box would do it again.

h

That African Botanicals oil in the Boxwalla subscription several months ago smells so incredibly wonderful. It has become one of my favorite brands.

I think just the smell alone make me want to drop $250 for another bottle.
