KitNipBox January 2020 Review

KitNipBox has monthly themes. Around holidays, there are holiday themes, but you can never predict what it’ll be at other times. This month it was a relaxation theme:

The information card included a list of items in the box. They included values and I have used a lot of these below because KitNipBox toys can be hard to find for sale online.

Playful Pet Yoga Wand - Listed Value $7

We're starting off with the most popular item in the box. I got pretty good pictures of Angus, Sneaky, and Monkey playing with it. (See them below.) This has a fuzzy fleece textured attachment that kitties can sink their claws or teeth into.

Playful Pet Beanbag Chair - Listed Value $5

I think this is cute and I like the bright colors, but I think my cats like the fuzzy texture. This is a good size for kicking around although a bit small for wrestling. This is more of a Monkey/Angus item.

LEAP All Catnip Cup of Joe - Listed Value $5

This has something inside rather like hard bits (like those sleep masks with lavender buds and grains of rice), not sure what they are, perhaps some form of catnip. Anyway, it has a different feel to it than the other toys and also Monkey really liked the felt handle.

Keep Calm Meditation Pillow - Listed Value $5

We have received several pillow toys like this in this subscription. One is permanently saved because Mr. Kitty used to chew on it and I keep it to remember those times! But now the cats have a new one. This has a texture that does seem to invite biting and also a small rattle/bell thing inside. This is a decent size for wrestling.

Safemade Catnip and Crinkle Sleep Mask - Listed Value $5

Sadly, this is not an actual sleep mask, or you would have seen some pictures of cats wearing it. Instead, it is a very lightweight toy (probably the smallest this month) with some crinkly stuff inside. It has a furry texture that is different from the fleece you've seen up above and it was good for a few chin rubs from the old men (Monkey and Madison). It is small enough to get tossed around so Angus will likely play with it some, as well.

Ourpets Zig-n-Zag Cat Toy - Retail Value $4.99

As ball toys go, this is a bit on the heavy side. There's some sort of weight inside there that makes it not roll in a straight line. Hard ball toys are Monkey magnets. He knocked this off the bed and started batting it around like the second I turned my back. You can see it out of the package in the cat photos below.

Purebites Freeze Dried Tuna (0.3 oz) - Listed Value $4, Buy 0.88 oz for $4.99 (found here for $3.49)

These are freeze-dried tuna. Sneaky loved them, of course, and Monkey wanted in on these as well. Madison didn't quite know what he was supposed to do with them and preferred to rub his head on one. Oh well.

Here are some gratuitous cat photos:

Madison has been feeling a bit shy lately, I had to take all of those pictures zoomed in from far away. He did give everything a good sniff without immediately running to hide, which seems like a plus.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $35.99 for the January KitNipBox, which is a reasonable amount above the month-to-month cost for the subscription. I liked the variety of toys this month. We have not received anything like the purple ball before, and several cats liked the treats, and the catnip plush toys all had different textures, which my cats seem to like, but the true winner this month was definitely the wand.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your first KitNipBox will ship right after your payment processes, so you should still be able to get January's box if you sign up now.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99 including free shipping, which means that each of the 7 items in the box has an average cost of $4.28.
