Too Faced Palm Springs Dreams Eye Shadow Palette - Retail Value $45.00

I generally like Too Faced palettes because they are so bright and colorful, and feel very "Boxy" to me because they really amp up the fun levels in a box. At first glance, a few of these colors were ones I didn't think I would like (the blue, two pinks, and metallic yellow) but in typical fashion, I misjudged a few of these shades. The 6 mattes are all really lovely, and feel very much like shadow basics in a very good way. Pigment is great and they are very smooth. The shimmers were the shades that were full of surprises. Can we discuss that bright blue? It looks like straight-up blue in the pan, but when swatched it is actually a much more charcoal-feeling color with an electric blue shimmer. My favorite shade was 'Buzz Kill', a sheer pink + peach glitter that lays on the lid like a wash, perfect for natural makeup looks that need a little extra oomph! Altogether, there is certainly here enough for both day and night looks, and room to be extra creative and make the shades your own.

Top to bottom: Cabana Time, Saucy & Bossy, TFTI, BYOB, Rumtiki, and Swizzle Stick

Top to bottom: Last Call, She's Lit, Dirty Martini, Buzz Kill, Mocktail, and Swank

Laneige Fresh Calming Mousse Moisturizer, 2.8 oz - Retail Value $29.00

I will admit that I was a little confused by this product, but I really adore this brand, so I expected it to be good. The texture is a foam that turns into more of a liquid as you rub it in. I am not sure this is for someone like me with super dry skin, as the finish felt much closer to a serum than a moisturizer, per se. I don't see myself using this on my face (though if you have normal or oily skin, you might love it there!) but I really liked this on my legs. There isn't really a heavy scent here which suits my sensitive legs just fine. I would have preferred another type of product from this brand, but I am still happy with this.

FARSÁLI Liquid Glass Radiance Serum, 30 ml - Retail Value $54.00

This kind of reminds me a little of Glossier Futuredew (though, thankfully, much lighter) and it was almost as confusing. I have used this brand's Unicorn Essence before as a primer, and they feel similar to me as well. This formula is basically tied to the 'glassy skin' trend which, depending on who you ask, either looks amazing or looks oily. I am kind of on the fence because it is a look I can't pull off consistently. I tried this over my whole face as a primer and then applied my normal (light) makeup routine. I personally thought my face looked amazingly glowy, though I also looked shiny. A little bit of setting powder on top really helped this look dewier, and I liked this stuff very much! I had less success with applying it on top of my makeup the next day with my fingertips as a highlighter, because this application did look oily on me. This formula has hyaluronic acid in it, so I would prefer to use it underneath for the moisture benefits anyway! As a side note, this also looks lovely on collarbones.

Kat Von D 'Lolita' Eyeshadow, 3.2 g - Retail Value $19.00

I can't say I have tried too many Kat Von D products, aside from maybe a black eyeliner. I had heard of this particular product though, because for so many people it is one of those HG multi-use products. With this in mind, I was pretty excited to try it on both my lids and lips. The mix of rose, peach, and brown is right in line with the sort of shades I enjoy wearing. I absolutely loved this color on both my lids and cheeks! It feels a lot edgier than my normal pink blush, which is something I would like to experiment with more in the future. As an eyeshadow, this shade is pretty much in my wheelhouse. I love reddish tones on my lids and this was delightfully pigmented and soft. This was a total winner for me.

Love!

Saint Luxe Beauty Eyeliner Trio - Retail Value $55.00

I was not impressed with these liners at all. I also don't love the high price tag for the quality and find it weird there are no other items on the brand's website. The charcoal, in particular, was really not good. The application was actually painful on my lid, scratchy and difficult. The color payoff was minimal. The nude and bronze were better than the charcoal, but that isn't saying a whole lot.

Top to bottom: Nude, Bronze, Charcoal

Billion Dollar Brows & Beauty Best Sellers Kit - Retail Value $42.00

I received this kit before from Ipsy Ultimate, and I liked it then too. I actually gave most of it to my mom (who likes it a lot!) so I am happy to have a kit to myself again. The brown shade of the brow pencil is a shade that works really well for me and the formula is nice and smooth. The spoolie is great for smoothing it out and making it look natural. I also like the double-ended pencil, though the highlighter shade is probably a little close to a concealer shade for my fair skin.

Top is the brow pencil and the lower shades are the highlighter and concealer.

Verdict: My BoxyCharm box has an overall value of $244 which is an awesome value for a $35 box. It was a really good box! I liked everything except the eyeliner trio, which was just not great. The standouts were the Too Faced palette and the FARSÁLI serum. The colors of the palette were dreamy, and the serum combines skincare and makeup. Count me in! I am also super excited about the Kat Von D Lolita eyeshadow because I enjoy multi-use items. The Laneige product wasn't my absolute favorite, but I did enjoy it when used unconventionally on my legs and arms instead of my face. All in all, the value is here (it always is with Boxy) and this box felt like such a fun assortment of new treats for my vanity.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I got a natasha denoda duo chrome top coat in lavender/gold and silver!!!! Was hopping for the la neige but i got a tula acne foam cleanser. My skin is not acne prone but it can help with dark spot. I Also got a Bliss four clay soufflé mask…. but my skin always react badly To clay. Got the brow kit, the too faced eyeshadow palette and the farsali. Overall I’m happy!

I was bummed I didn’t get off the waitlist in time for this box, but now I’m so glad! The palette is sooo pretty, but I wouldn’t have used it or anything else in the box. Yay!

Wow, 3 eyeliners lol

Today a woman stole my boxycharm off my porch, jumped in her car and drove off. Sadness

Wow. Did you catch it on video? Turn it over to the police! People are horrible. I kept refreshing my ipsy tracking, so I could go get it as soon as it was delivered, since I always worry about that! I hope you can get it back or that they will send you another one.

I got almost nothing that suited me and wound up throwing almost everything away. I cancelled. No more Boxycharm for me

Why would you throw it away?!? You could have sold it on a resale site or group or at the least donated it to a women’s shelter, even if you swatched it you could sanitize and give it away

I’m not a fan of the whole glowing skin/glassy skin. Why would you want your skin to glow lol glassy skin tends to look greasy or wet. I will be glad when the word glow to describe radiant skin finally goes away. The eyeliner looks like a regular pencil. Ouch!

I haven’t fallen for a Premium subscription, but have been following it closely. This is, by far, the weakest box since inception. The palette is ‘okay’; again, the colors, for me, are not anywhere near daily-wearable. As an artist, I love to look at them. Using them on my face day-to-day is not anywhere in the picture. I suspect most people who collect these palettes just look at them as well! The rest of the box is completely underwhelming. In contrast, base Boxy was very interesting.

New comment for this review — I got two full-size products for acne-prone skin, and I’m 65. Unfortunately, had I received the Laneige moisturizer and the Skinfix scrub for crepey skin instead, I wouldn’t have canceled, which I did earlier today. I kept the original and Luxe boxes though, which seem to be tailored to a mature audience. The Premium box appears to be targeted mostly to tweens, teens and maybe even young adults.

Kind of interested in the Farsali, because it looks like it might be similar to VDL Lumilayer Primer, which I adore. But the asking prices on swaps/resale sites are about the same as VDL when it is on sale or from a Korean site.

I got this same box and I wasn’t very impressed. Nothing screamed “premium to me”. I much preferred my base box and found it to be more high end and luxe than this.

I got my first premium box this month and honestly I am so upset with my base box its hard to enjoy it. I signed up for premium when the option first came out but saw the full box reveal then opted out. It would be nice if we could see full box reveals before the first of every month then decide if we want to cancel for that month.

I agree, I was surprised this was my “premium” box. Figured this was the luxe or the regular (I get all of them). Did not feel worth 50 bucks.

Jackie

It is $35, but yeah, just like regular boxycharm, they throw some WTH items in there. This is the first time I haven’t received a Natasha Denona palette, so not my favorite month.

Sherry C

This box, the Boxy Premium, was $35, not $50. The Boxy Luxe is the $50 box.

Lauren

Thank you for not selling me on the serum haha. I’ve been eyeing it in Facebook groups, but I want more moisturization tthan appearance.

Does anyone know does the brow kit only come in one color ? Thanks 😊

Jackie

Yes, it is only one color, comes with a universal bow pencil.

Thanks Jackie 🙂

Can you get this box on its own or do you have to also get the base boxy subscription too? I know you need to be a base boxy subscriber in order to get this, but once you do get off the waitlist, can you drop your base boxy sub?

Reply ButtonReply

Jackie

You have to get both for one month, after that first month, you can cancel the base box.

Julie B

Yes, once I got the Premium box, I canceled the base box. Just too many products. However, I am already missing the basebox and maybe will wait till Im eligible for another free gift offer to sign up again.

Well, I learned what the liquid glass trend is. I’ve received one or two liquid glass items in subs but I honestly had no idea what it was.

Jackie

Glad I didn’t get those pencils, luckily I got another skincare item instead. Really like the pamphlet in the too faced palette, though I’ll probably swap it because the swatches look really warm. Awesome review as always Megan!!

Same here, I think I got the Bliss mud mask. The one time I am glad I got a “lower” retail valued box. I am wondering if you trying “warming” up the eyeliner if it might help but, honestly, I feel like this might have been old stock. That usually happens to me with my old eyeliners that are like seconds from being thrown away…

So glad to have received the much lower retail value of the clay foam mask instead of the liners, too! My base box has more “retail value” than my Premium, but retail value is all relative, especially when it is made up makeup. 🙂 Also glad to have dodged getting that mascara for tweens, which really cracked me up since I’m well over that stage of my life.
