VetPet Box (Multi-Cat Version) December 2019 Review
Every month, VetPet Box sends toys, supplies, and wellness items:
I did not receive an information card this month. There is also always educational material in a full-color, fold-out brochure that is sturdy enough for storage and later reference. There is a different theme every month (this material is considered to be one of the benefits of paying for the subscription, so it is not reproduced here). This month was about holiday safety.
Pet Winery Rose (12 oz) - Retail Value $14.95
This is water with catnip and salmon oil (the color is from beets). It is not actually alcoholic. I have received this item in the past in much smaller bottles from other cat boxes. I am trying to get Angus to drink this. He drinks a lot of water because he's on prednisolone for his IBD, and the nutritionist recommended giving him fish oil to help fight inflammation. It's been hard getting him to actually consume the fish oil, though, and this might, over time, prove to be an effective way of getting it into him.
Yeowww! Kris Krinkle (2 count) - Retail Value $13.98
Yeowww! toys are some of my cats' favorites and they hold their value for a long time -- just last week I caught Sneaky playing with a Yeowww! Christmas toy from last year. I guess the catnip is particularly strong. These also have some crinkly material in them but they're not too loud, and a canvas texture on one side, with the other side being fuzzy. All of the cats liked these.
Wellness Kittles Turkey and Cranberries (2 oz) - Retail Value $2.37
These are crunchy treats that are grain free and made in the US. Angus can't eat them because of his IBD, but the other three (even Monkey) thought they were pretty great. They come in a resealable bag to preserve freshness. I think the cranberry is in there to help urinary tract health.
Bavarian Cat Toy Willy - Retail Value $7.79 (found here for $3)
This brand pops up every now and then in a cat subscription box. These toys have valerian which is supposed to be very exciting for cats. Traditionally, Monkey has been the cat interested in valerian and he did like this (well, he rubbed his face all over it). Word of warning, though, this is STINKY. Like feet or old cheese or something. (It's supposed to be that way, there's nothing wrong with it.)
Yeowww! Stocking (2 count) - Retail Value $9.90
Here is another Yeowww! toy in a somewhat smaller size. Madison went absolutely nuts over these. I got some pictures of him rolling around on the floor on top of one of them. I guess they have good catnip! (Also, Angus kept biting them.)
From the Field Jacques le Sock - Retail Value $5.99
Madison is also a fan of From the Field toys. They have silvervine, which is supposed to be super attractive to cats. Of all of mine, Madison is the most affected by silvervine. He was already crazy from the Yeowww! stocking but he did like this too.
Tiki Cat Stix, Tuna (1 count) - Buy 6 for $4.99 (found here for $4.24)
This is a brand of lickable treat that I hadn't tried with my cats before. Angus can't have them, but Sneaky, Monkey, and Madison can, and they all loved it. It is a bit runnier than some other treats of this type so it was a little messy and all three spent five minutes grooming themselves after eating to get the remaining traces off. It's also kind of smelly. But the cats like it!
Tiki Cat Stix, Chicken (1 count) - Buy 6 for $4.99 (found here for $4.24)
I have basically the same things to say about this one as the tuna one, except it didn't stink as much. Monkey is usually a snob about such things and will only eat one brand, but he did like these.

Verdict: I calculated a total value of about $54.98 for the December VetPet Box for cats, not counting the Stix treats because they're not available for individual sale. That's about $10 over the month-to-month cost of the box. Also, this was just a really well put together box. All of the toys were hits from brands my cats love and there were lots of different treats. The Stix treats were popular, if a bit messy, and were completely new to us.
