November 2019 Super Chewer "Thanksniffing" Review

Each box arrives with an information card with details about the items included. This month is "Thanksniffing" themed, which is one of the best holiday puns I've heard in quite a while.

BIG yawn.

Bonus Item: Super Chewer Bandana

I never in a million years thought dressing up my dog would bring me so much joy, but here I am. He has some actual clothes, but my favorite accessory for him his bandanas. This one is really nice quality; it feels like a light flannel shirt, and red buffalo check is one of my favorite patterns to put him in. It's perfect that this was included in the box because in my family, we usually dress up just a little bit for holiday meals, before we gather around the dining room table. I usually like to wear a sweater and slacks, and I feel like this bandana is the doggo version of that!

Super Chewer Rabchickey Treats

I try to stay true to my lab's roots as a hunting dog, and I love seeing treats that feature wild game. Arch loves lamb, venison, and definitely rabbit. These are a nice size and shape to give him a few throughout the day without overdoing it on the calories for him. Sometimes dog treats can be super-funky, but my husband and I both noticed that these smell super-good, like human-grade food. We didn't sample them, of course, but it sure was nice that they didn't stink!

Super Chewer Whistle Treat Apple - Retail Value $14

This is a brand-new toy from Super Chewer, and I think it's totally genius. It came with a bag of chicken whistle treats that you plug into the toy. What happens then is that the toy becomes an edible squeaker of sorts. Arch didn't make it squeak, but he seemed to love it anyway. He managed to get the treat out without destroying the toy at all, which made me really happy. There have been other toys that were not as lucky. Another great feature of the apple in particular is that it's surprisingly lightweight. Most of the toys that are good for Archie weigh a lot because they're so heavy-duty, but this was great because I could toss it around the house without worrying about wrecking everything in sight.

Super Chewer Whistle Treats, Chicken Flavor, 10 pieces

Meant to be inserted into the Whistle Apple Treat above, these were almost like little buttons that go inside the toy. They're hard to the touch, and blessedly, don't have much of a smell. I have been blessed with a food-motivated pup, so he's hardly picky, but I liked that these treats didn't crumble at all when I was loading them into the apple. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very good at loading treat-dispensing toys, and I did find this one a tiny bit hard to get in at first, but that could easily be me, and not the apple. Once I was able to finesse one of the treats into the toy, he went puppy-bonkers for the whole package!

Super Chewer Turkey Day Drumstick - Retail Value $14

Look at that, an entree right in the box - this adorable drumstick! The core is a sturdy nylon, which feels like a hard plastic, surrounded by heavy-duty, chicken-scented (yes, you saw that correctly) rubber. This is Archie's new best friend - its rocker features cause him to chase it all over the house, and it's a nice size for us to play tug of war. This is easily Archie's favorite toy from this box, and I have to say, I really love watching him play with it.

*Note: sometimes when playing with a toy, my sweet dog is replaced by a demon. I've named him Bitey Van Buren and he is truly horrifying.

Super Chewer Deep Roots Carrot

The variety in toy shapes really impressed me in this box, and the tags with a bit more information on each one are so helpful! I didn't realize it right away, but the tag suggested that the grooves on the carrot could hold peanut butter, and it let me know that the very pleasant scent on this toy was actually almond! The only thing that didn't work for me (or Arch) was the plush aspect. My sweetie mostly annihilated the green carrot "fronds" in about 90 seconds, giving me no choice but to cut the rest of them off at the base with some scissors, just to stop his munching.

Chicken Stick

Advertised as hard and crunchy, I was pretty sure Arch would love this treat, and I was right! He loves treats, and I love using them as an opportunity to continue to train him and polish his manners. He used this treat as an opportunity to sit and give me a cute face like the goodest boy. I thought this stick was rather sizeable, but thanks to my super chewer (see what I did there?), it didn't last much longer than ten minutes.

Plato Pet Treats Thinkers Chicken Recipe Stick

Archie loooooves treats, as previously stated, and I was more than glad to give him this chicken-tastic treat after we hiked a ways on a trail near my house. This smelled almost like a human-grade jerky, and disappeared in about 90 seconds.

Verdict: I was blown away by this Super Chewer Box! Three huge, high-quality toys, treats that made my boy go crazy, and yummy chews to keep him busy, even if only for a few minutes. One of my favorite things I've noticed about this box is that all the treats seem to be made from high-quality ingredients, and selfishly, I'm so psyched that they smell good! I'm really picky about what Archie eats, and I feel confident in these items that they're healthy for my boy. Playing with these toys was so much fun this month, and unlike other toys I've purchased for him this year, these seem to be lasting nicely and are keeping his interest every day. Everything was insanely well-made and durable. Out of three toys, I only wasn't crazy about the carrot's fronds, but the body of the toy is still a keeper in my book! I think it's safe to say that Archie was a big fan of the contents in this box, and I'm definitely looking forward to what Super Chewer is up to next!
