Stitch Fix Kids December 2019 Review

In our Stitch Fix Kids delivery, we received this cute sticker sheet.

This is the invoice that was sent in the Fix. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $248, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $166.00 (my invoice looks a little different because I have some credits on my account that it is applying). That's a savings of $82 on this Fix!

This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a note from her stylist. It looks like she has another new stylist this month. I'm not sure why because I do think I requested the same stylist as last month, but let's see what she sent!

Alyza Swing Dress by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $24.00

This adorable dress was her favorite this month and I think it's such a great one! The material is soft and the color is one that I think is great for any season. The swing style is great for an active little girl and this will easily pair with leggings to wear all year long. Those little strap details at the top are barely noticeable on her, probably because it's a bit big, but this also means it will fit her for a long time, which I can appreciate! She absolutely loves it!

I didn't even realize it until she had this on for a while, but it has pockets! So cute!

Charlene Front Seam Skinny Jeans by Joe's Jeans, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $30.00

So I love that her stylist sent items to make several full outfits, but she sent three pairs of jeans this month. Liv doesn't really wear jeans and I believe I have already given feedback to that regard after previous Fixes, but I guess that got lost in the shuffle somewhere when they switched up her stylist. I like the dark wash of these and they seem like quality jeans, but that slit at the front is really odd. They were super baggy, which isn't always a bad thing, but I did not like the design of these at all. The slit would have made more sense on the side to me.

Emilie Tie Detail Top by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $20.00

This top was really cute, but it is definitely more my style than Liv's. I thought it looked cute on her, although not so great with those odd jeans! It was a bit baggy on her, but since it has elastic at the ends of the sleeves, it still looked fine and didn't hang down too far on her arms.

Kesha Skinny Jean by Imperial Star, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $34.00

This pair of jeans was really fun and I think if a pair of jeans were to appeal to Liv, the sequin details would be the way to do it! Although it was a little odd with the placement inside the pockets since your hand rubs against them when you put them inside. These were a little tight at the bottom, but you can see they were super baggy everywhere else. Overall, the quality was good, but I think they would look much better on a child who filled them out better so you could really appreciate the fun sequin details.

Stevie Longsleeve Embellished Tee by Cotton On, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $16.00

This top was cute and fun with the gold glitter and fun tassel embellishments! It's a great shirt for a little girl. Nothing exceptional about the quality though, just a basic tee with some fun details.

Zendaya Cuffed Ankle Skinny Jean by Vigoss, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $24.00

Our last pair of jeans was another fun pair with the little sequin pouch attached to them. Again, this was a fun way to try and tempt her into wearing jeans, but she wasn't having it. I did like the dark wash and the cuffed ankles! Again, these were super baggy on her. I think in jeans she must need a true 6X because the 7s, while long enough, are just too baggy for her.

The Long Sleeve Side Twist Tee by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $18.00

This top was plain and simple in a fun purple color similar to the first dress. It was another basic tee in soft material with a cute side twist detail. While it's cute, it seems like it should be a little less expensive for what it is.

Jackie Tutu Dress by Chenault Girl, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $30.00

Well this dress was just adorable and perfect for a young girl! Liv loved the sequin butterfly that changed colors and that it has a tie at the waist. I thought the ruffles at the sleeves were a little much, but I loved that the sheer skirt had that beautiful silver material underneath that shone through. I wasn't quite sure how this one was supposed to fit though. I guess it is supposed to be 3/4 length sleeves? It kind of just looked it was too small on her, although I'm sure she would grow into it in no time. This one also felt like it was expensive, but the quality is definitely there and this is a brand she has a few dress from and they hold up well.

Leah Knit Legging by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $12.00

I love that her stylist included this pair of leggings to go with the dress. The color is really nice and should pair well with a lot of tops and dresses, but it looks especially pretty with the blue butterfly dress. The fit was really good, too. Not too tight, but nice and long so she can wear them for a while.

Crush Engineer Boot by MIA KIDS, Size 13 - Cost to Keep $40.00

They keep sending her boots and I'm not sure why! They never fit her right because they all are very narrow and she has wide feet. I have mentioned the sizing issue before and I guess I need to size her up to a 1 in her profile, but I honestly wasn't expecting them to send boots again so soon based on my previous feedback. This must be another thing that got overlooked when they switched stylists on us. The boots are super cute and seem like nice quality. The buckle strap and glitter details are fun, but she couldn't even get her foot inside of these. Also, the boots we received are different than the ones pictured on our Style sheet and on the app when I go to checkout, so I am not sure that this is even the correct name for this boot, FYI!

The Verdict: I was a little bummed to see that Stitch Fix Kids had given Liv a new stylist again. We loved her first stylist and the previous two fixes before this came from a new stylist who was great, too, but it seems that each time there is a little bit of information that gets lost in the shuffle. For example, we keep receiving jeans and boots even though I have given feedback that we don't need either of these or that the fits aren't good. It's a little disappointing because the stylist can totally make or break this service and while the items were not necessarily bad, they did not feel personally curated for us. We really loved the dresses and the leggings, the shirts were all okay, but four of the items were things she didn't want or need, so it almost feels like a waste of a Fix. Fortunately, I think that purple dress makes up for it a bit and allowed us to not lose our styling fee, so I think it was still worth the $20 to us this month. Although, I am a little wary of what will happen next month. I'll have to make sure I make specific notes on the jeans and boots!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this Fix if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its Fixes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. Value Breakdown: This styling service cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $248.00. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the Fix is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $166.00. That’s a discount of around 33% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
