Love With Food Deluxe November 2019 Box Review

Love with Food November 2019 Booklet Front

Love with Food November 2019 Booklet Back

The box comes with a card (usually) that doesn't actually have much information on it.

Love with Food November 2019 Ad 1

Love with Food November 2019 Ad 2

There is often product literature or coupons. Usually, it relates to items in the box, but sometimes it doesn’t.

Love with Food November 2019 Pirouline 1 Love with Food November 2019 Pirouline 2

Pirouline Dark Chocolate (0.88 oz) - Buy 6, 14 oz tins for $31.72

This item is a Love With Food mainstay. You will see it a lot. They are chocolate creme-filled wafers and they are pretty good. I can see eating the whole tin if you're not careful, though, as they feel pretty light to eat (the filling is not super dense), so probably getting a 2-pack is just right for me.

Love with Food November 2019 Tart 1 Love with Food November 2019 Tart 2

Smart Tart Cinnamon Twist (2.05 oz) - Buy 12 for $29.99

This is like a healthier version of a Pop Tart. It does have some sugar, but less than a Pop Tart, and it has some fiber and protein. It's kind of high in saturated fat, probably because it contains palm oil (which I hope is sustainably harvested palm oil). It's all right although the outer part is a bit chewy compared to more mainstream products. And of course, as always, I am wanting a higher volume of filling per unit of pastry surface area. But not bad for something that's better for you than the item it was modeled after.

Love with Food November 2019 Rice 1 Love with Food November 2019 Rice 2

180 Snacks Almond Rice Pops with Cranberries (0.5 oz) - Buy 12 bags for $15.60 (on sale for $13)

We receive these fairly often in Love With Food although usually the blueberry ones. These cranberry ones are honestly quite similar. They are puffed rice snacks so they look big but are not very dense. If you are the sort of person who can be tricked into feeling like you're eating more based on visual perception, these could be a good option (I count myself in that group). They are somewhat sweet but not overly so.

Love with Food November 2019 Coconut 1 Love with Food November 2019 Coconut 2

Bare Toasted Coconut Chips (0.85 oz) - Buy 6, 2.8 oz bags for $23.88

My husband asked if these were the Dang chips when we were eating them and he is right, they are pretty similar to those. We are fans of coconut here so we liked these pretty well. They don't have any added flavoring but they don't really need it, either.

Love with Food November 2019 Mr Nature 1 Love with Food November 2019 Mr Nature 2

Mr Nature Cranberry Trail Mix (1 oz) - Buy 10 for $11 (on sale for $10)

This is a repeat item but it is one that I like well enough. I can see this being convenient food for hiking or outdoor activities where you want a nice mix of protein and fat for longer term endurance as well as sugar (from the dried fruit) for a quicker burst of energy. I also like the individual portions so an open bag doesn't start to go bad and so you don't end up eating too much of it at once (which would be easy to do).

Love with Food November 2019 Macadamias 1 Love with Food November 2019 Macadamias 2 Love with Food November 2019 Macadamias 3

The Swiss Colony Milk Chocolate Covered Macadamia Nuts (11 oz) - Retail Value $27.99 (on sale for $24.99)

This was a nice surprise (if it's something you like, which we do) as this item alone covers the entire cost of the box. Points to Love With Food, as well, for sending chocolate when it is colder out so it doesn't melt. (This has been a problem in the past.) I think the chocolate is not tempered but only melted so it doesn't retain the appearance you see on the company website (available at the link above) but it tastes good nonetheless. This is the second month in a row we've received a macadamia-based snack and I kind of hope this is a trend.

Love with Food November 2019 Drizzle 1 Love with Food November 2019 Drizzle 2

Drizzilicious Birthday Cake Bites (0.74 oz) - Buy 15 bags for $18.75 (on sale for $17)

These are miniature rice cakes so they are super low in calories but they have a bit of frosting or something on top to add flavor. I think it works really well as a strategy for making rice cakes more interesting. (We've received these before in this box in different flavors.) I eat much plainer rice cakes than this, though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I like these quite a lot. It's a way to get something a little sweet without consuming too many calories.

Love with Food November 2019 Corn 1 Love with Food November 2019 Corn 2

Farmer's Pantry Cornbread Crisps, Original (0.75 oz) Buy 8, 2 oz bags for $12.99 (on sale for $7.99)

This was a completely new brand and product for me. My husband and I liked these. They are a little plain on their own but substantial so they could stand up to a lot of different dips including salsa, bean dip, or a layered Tex-Mex style dip. They do kind of need a dip, I think, and probably would work better with something more Southwestern in nature, but they are good, especially if you also like cornbread, corn crackers, and similar items.

Love with Food November 2019 Pop 1 Love with Food November 2019 Pop 2

Popchips Sour Cream and Onion (0.8 oz) - Buy 24 bags for $23.74

Popchips must be doing a push as this is not the only box we've received their products in, this month. But that is OK. I will never complain about sour cream and onion chips. These are delicious if you like that flavor combination. I don't let myself buy chips but would totally pick a bag of these as a side at a sandwich shop or something like that.

Love with Food November 2019 Ekoa 1 Love with Food November 2019 Ekoa 2

Ekoa Pure Coconut (1.23 oz) - Buy 12 for $21.99

The name on this is a little deceptive because it's not actually all coconut. My husband swore up and down it tasted like banana, and I kind of agreed with him, so I went to look at the wrapper and it contains coconut, dates, and bananas. Anyway, as a dried fruit bar it has a decent texture, but unlike some of the other Ekoa bars (for example, the mango one) the banana really dominates over the main fruit here, so keep that in mind when choosing a flavor.

Love with Food November 2019 Chocolate 1 Love with Food November 2019 Chocolate 2

Gutsii Mint Puffdaddii Sexy Dark Swiss Prebiotic Chocolate (1.13 oz) - Buy 20 bars for $69.95

Prebiotics are compounds like fiber that make your gut environment nice for beneficial bacteria. But, my husband and I are not so sure prebiotic chocolate is a good idea. This had kind of a weird texture that I might've overlooked if it was sweet, but it wasn't very sweet. I love chocolate but I don't really think this one is for me.

Love with Food November 2019 Clif 1 Love with Food November 2019 Clif 2

Clif Whole Lotta Bar in Salted Dark Chocolate (1.98 oz) - Retail Value $2.99

I kind of like that you can buy individual bars from Clif. That way you can try something you might not've seen in a local store without committing to a whole box. I like the appearance of these; they remind me of dense nut/fruit bread or something. They are a little bit dry overall, although the ingredients are good and I like the flavor in general. They have a lot of sugar but it's not added sugar, it's all from the dates included here, and there is also some fiber and protein.

Love with Food November 2019 Tea

Tipson Turmeric, Vanilla, and Cinnamon Tea (1 bag) - Buy 25 bags for $7.99

Tipson is another brand that's been making the rounds. I knew they made flavored matchas (which I tend to like) but this is the first time I've seen an herbal tea from them. Turmeric tea on its own is, um, not good, but the vanilla and cinnamon here work to moderate the turmeric flavor. (Turmeric is excellent at fighting inflammation, which is why you'd want to consume it.)

Love with Food November 2019 Drink

KidsLuv Flying Fla-Mango (8 fl oz) - Buy 16 for $37.99

This is fruit-infused water for kids. It has a few calories (maybe 10 per box) but is much more water and much less juice, while still having a fruity flavor.  I can see this being a healthier alternative for school lunches than pure juice although maybe not so economical, at well over $2 per carton.

Verdict: There were 14 items in the November 2019 Love With Food Deluxe Box. I was really happy with this box. The chocolate-covered macadamia nuts more than covered the cost of the box, but came wrapped in plastic, so if that's not your thing, you can use it as part of an easy hostess gift. There were very few repeat items and many of the repeat brands (180 Snacks, Smart Tart) were new flavors. The chocolate didn't melt and there wasn't a ton of kid food this time around.

I got the regular Love with Food for about 6 months a while back when they had a deal. I liked the idea of getting interesting snacks to try (especially as nursing snacks since baby’s take a lot of calories out!) but I found it a bit underwhelming. Lots of card-boardy food, repeats, and very tiny samples. They had some variations and they weren’t always comparable. Some repeat products, too. It was mostly fine since I was only paying $5 a box or something like that, but when my sub ran out and the price was going to go up I cancelled. I was only loving about one or two items a box, which didn’t seem a great long-term value to me. Though I did love those Alter Ego black truffles…

And one cool thing about it was you got points for product reviews, and eventually could redeem those for a larger snack pack. I ended up getting the Smoked Beef Original Recipe & Cheddar Cheese Snack Pack which was little jerky logs and some terrible cheese puff things. I would snack on the jerky and my eldest toddler would eat the cheesy crackers (She loved them) so it worked out great.

But I live in an area where it’s incredibly easy to find a variety of non-mainstream snacks and get good deals on them, so this sort of box probably isn’t a good fit for me anyway.

I guess the boxes are different for everyone because I didn’t get a tin of chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Annoying.

Chris

Neither did I – I got a 13 gram bag of popcorn instead, apparently, based on the review contents. 🙁

We pay for this subscription as regular subscribers and the account is under my name, they do not send it to us free and if you will look at my past reviews you will see plenty of criticism over repeat items, melted chocolate in summer, etc.
