Bookroo Board Book November 2019 Review

Bookroo sends the books individually wrapped each month which is such a nice treat. This month our paper is seasonal and so festive. I love the presentation!

Bookroo always includes an insert that gives a brief description of the books you receive with the board book box selections listed on one side and the picture book box selections on the other. They encourage you to share your books on social media and to leave a review of your book.

Baking Day at Grandma's by Anika Denise - Retail Value $6.99 (found here for $6.55)

This book was adorable! These cute little bears are on their way to Grandma's for baking day and the rhyming text that highlights their excitement makes this a great read. There is also a repeated little chant "It's baking day, it's baking day, it's baking day at Grandma's!" that the kids are sure to love and will probably join in on once they get the hang of it! We enjoyed reading this one together and I especially enjoyed the sweet illustrations. There was also a recipe on the back for Grandma's chocolate cake which we might just have to try!

Busy Baby Trucks by Sara Gillingham - Retail Value $9.99 (found here for $9.60)

This book features a little baby who is busy driving all sorts of trucks around town. He fixes a crack in the sidewalk with his cement truck and loads up a bunch of recycling in another. What makes this book especially fun is that baby's head spins from a happy face to a sad face. Little ones will love watching it move and manipulating the circle head with their fingers, while I had my bigger kids use the faces to tell me how baby would feel in each situation which they really enjoyed. Any time a book has moving parts it's sure to be a hit!

The Nutcracker: A Dancing Primer by Jennifer Adams - Retail Value $9.99 (found here for $9.97)

This book was just the right amount of seasonal with the vibrant red cover and classic Christmastime ballet story told through simple sentences and actions. The colors and illustrations were visually appealing and I loved the multicultural aspect with dancers from around the world. I thought the use of vocabulary was great as the dancers twirled and leaped and the kids enjoyed reading it. I did think the ending felt a bit abrupt though. We went from a beginning page with the party starting and a final page of "buffoons skipping." It felt like there should have been one last action or line to really close out the story.

Verdict: The kids and I enjoyed our board books from Bookroo this month! The books were unique and I love that one of them was more interactive for my youngest son. While my daughter is above the target age group, she still enjoyed these stories. Baking Day at Grandma's was probably our favorite, but they were all well received here! This box costs $24.94 ($19.95 a month + $4.99 shipping) and the retail value of our books is $26.97, which is just over the cost of the books we received. I'm still happy with the value and think this would be such a nice gift with the beautiful wrapping and presentation!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
