Bonjour Jolie November 2019 "Live, Give, Smile" Review

This month's Bonjour Jolie box theme is "Live, Give, Smile" and they included this informational card about how they have partnered with some companies that all give back! Not only do they get bonus points for such a caring theme, but they also get major points from me for their transparency this month with customers! I received a heartfelt email from the owner about how this small team has had some setbacks which have affected their customer service. They will have limited customer service hours going forward (Tuesday through Friday only) and while I haven't personally noticed anything on my end and didn't find that my box was late, I appreciate them reaching out and keeping their customers informed! I've always had excellent customer service from them, so I'm happy that they are being proactive in letting everyone know.

Let's start with the goods. All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that usually fits within our theme and in this case, we have lots of words of thanks on our package.

When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.

Seventh Generation Ultra-Thin Overnight Pads (20) - Buy 28 for $7.99

You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile, but keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month. The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box and the fact that you can try new things without committing to an entire box of products. This may be TMI, but I've recently ventured into the ecofriendly world of menstrual cups and since I'm still a bit new, I figured I might need some backups. I'm happy they had a choice that was free from dyes, fragrances, and chlorine.

Summer's Eve Cleansing Cloths in Simply Sensitive (2) - Buy a box of 16 for $2.27

They send cleansing cloths like these each month which is nice because I have a great little stash for when I might need them to freshen up.

Advil To-Go Packs (2) – Buy 50 2-packs for $9.98

These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.

Bead for Life Sanyu Bangle Bracelet in Pink – Retail Value $7.99

Our first company that gives back is Bead for Life which sells bracelets handwoven by impoverished women in Uganda. They have helped over 60,000 people so far! This bracelet is made from large handmade paper beads and smaller seed beads. I love the simple style and I think this will make such a cute gift for my niece!

Here it is on! It's a bit tighter on my wrist, but not uncomfortably so.

Glow for a Cause Solid Perfume in Dare, 0.4 oz - Retail Value $16.00 (currently on sale for $10.00)

The next company that gives back is Glow for a Cause. I have received items from this brand before and I've always been pretty pleased with the scents and quality. This little solid perfume is no exception! Here is the description from their site, "Pink pepper, white florals, black coffee, and vanilla combine to create the perfect balance of sweetness and sensuality." I think their description is pretty spot on! The florals and vanilla were what stood out to me most. While I found it a bit sweet on the nose at first, once applied, it is much more subtle and it really is a pleasing scent! I'll be throwing this one in my purse for sure!

Deep River Snacks Potato Chips in Original Sea Salt, 0.75 oz bag - Listed Value $1.50 (Buy a case of 24 2 oz bags here for $23.04)

These chips were yummy! The plain salt flavor was delicious and they had the right amount of crunch. I'd definitely buy a larger bag of these! They donate 10% of their profits to charity and have an adorably cheesy motto to go along with it, "Because we give a chip!" I love this!

The rest of our edibles all came packaged inside this purple mesh bag.

Newman's Own Peppermint Cups, 3 count pack - Listed Value $2.00 (I couldn't locate these for sale online!)

These peppermint cups come from Newman's Own which donates 100% of their profits to charity and they were so good! I love peppermint patties and these were a delicious version with dark chocolate and this mint inside that reminded me of those little buttermints that I adore! I had no idea this company made these, but I'll definitely be on the lookout for these next time I hit the store!

Made Good Chocolate Chip Granola Mini Bars (2)- Listed Value $1.50 (I couldn't locate these online either!)

Well, these mini granola bars were adorable! They were so tiny though (about the size of a fun-size candy bar) so I can't imagine they would actually fill anyone up for a snack. The taste was pretty good, not overly sweet, but I wasn't especially impressed. I do like that 2% of their sales go to the Children's Miracle Network though!

Project 7 Gourmet Gum in Birthday Cake -  Estimated Value $1.40 (Buy 12 packs for $16.75)

This was an interesting choice and while I was curious to try it, neither my husband nor I enjoyed the flavor of these! They were much too sweet and just not our thing! This gum does come from a great company that gives back, Project 7, which donates to 7 important causes around the world including feeding the hungry and housing the homeless. This pack specifically helps students go through anti-bullying programs!

Annie's Organic Gummies, 2 packs - Estimated Value $1.50 (Buy a 12 count variety pack here for $7.99)

My kids love these and I am happy to let them have them since the texture is a bit too chewy (or something!) for me. I actually didn't know that Annie's donates a portion of their sales to charity so now I can feel even better when I buy one of their products!

Equal Exchange Chocolates (2) - Listed Value $1.50 (Buy a box of 150 for $32.00)

These little chocolates are great for a quick treat! They are made from 43% milk chocolate and come from Equal Exchange which sources their fair trade chocolate from small farms and donates a portion of their profits to charity.

Numi Organic Teabags (3) - Estimated Value $1.50 (Buy an 18 ct box for $7.49)

Our teas this month come from Numi Organic Teas and we received a jasmine green tea, a rooibos, and a chamomile lemon. Numi's tea is fair trade and Fair Labor certified, and not only do they care about communities, but they are also environmentally friendly and dedicated to making a positive impact wherever they can!

I tried out the jasmine green tea and was impressed by all the jasmine flavor!

Verdict: I really loved the theme for this month's Bonjour Jolie box and I was so impressed that every single company that they chose (with the exception of the menstrual products) was a company that gives back in some form or another! They managed to provide the right amount of pampering and treats to make this box feel special. In addition to the great products they included, I also love the transparency that this company offers its subscribers! My rough estimate using a combination of retail and listed values comes to about $41.03 which is great for a $24.48/month ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) box full of items from companies committed to giving back!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Pads & tampons have toxic chemicals & a hazard for ourselves and the earth. Reusable washable pads are healthy, cheap & good for the environment. I got mine from etsy.
