Two Pink Balloons November 2019 "Farm" Review

This is the parent guide that we received with information on the items in our box. This month's theme is "Farm." Each page of the guide provides useful information about how to use the month's activities with your child.

In your first box, you'll receive a felt lap board, which your child can use with the new felt activities you'll get each month. Over the course of reviewing this subscription, we have actually received two; a bright green and a teal blue in previous boxes.

Baa Baa Black Sheep Felt Board Activity Set

This month our felt set includes all of the pieces needed to act out the nursery rhyme Baa, Baa Black Sheep. The pieces are so sweet looking and they stick well to our lap boards. The parent guide emphasized that nursery rhymes are great for brain development and how they can encourage the learning of new vocabulary. I love that they highlight and explain why they chose this for our box!

I went ahead and sang the rhyme for the kids and had them place the pieces on the board to go along with each part of the song. They loved this and always have fun playing with the felt pieces we receive.

Farm Animal Finger Puppet Set

Our next activity was this adorable felt barn and animal set. The back of the barn features a pocket with four different animals inside. There was a cow, horse, chick, and pig; all of them cute as can be!

Seriously, these animals are so adorable! The detail on them is incredible and I have actually admired felt animals like this before in small shops and I know how pricey they can be. I actually didn't realize it until the kids started playing with them, but these are little finger puppets! They recommended having children work on finger isolation with these which can be challenging for them. This will help them practice skills which will come in handy when it comes time to button up coats and put on gloves this winter!

My son and daughter got into the spirit of things right away and started performing some puppet shows with them. They were so excited to play with them and I love how much these sparked their creativity!

Chicken Tic Tac Toe Set

How cute is this Tic Tac Toe set? I love the cute board with the tiny chicks and eggs as our game pieces! This is one of my daughter's favorite games to play and this is much more eco-friendly than the amount of paper we usually go through when we play multiple rounds. Plus this is just much cuter! This will be such a great activity to keep in the diaper bag or my purse for a quiet activity we can do at restaurants or when we have various appointments. This is another very well-made set, too.

While Tic Tac Toe is what the pieces are meant for, my son was quick to take the little chicks and put them with the larger chick from our barn to play with them as a family!

Chick Weaving

I love how simple and useful this little weaving activity is! Learning how to weave can be challenging, but this will be a great way to practice and a fun way to work on their fine motor skills. The felt strips are actually a bit stiffer than I would have thought so they weave through the slits well. We practiced this one a little bit, but since it was more challenging, it got put to the side since the other activities were much more freeform in comparison! I will definitely be using this with my son soon though so that he can develop his fine motor skills more fully!

Pumpkin Farm Number Sense

This little bag contained ten styrofoam pumpkins, a dry erase marker, and a set of laminated cards with numbers on them from 1-10. The pumpkins make great counting manipulatives and they also recommend using them for a hide and seek sensory bin. The cards are great because you can use them to trace and write the number words and also color in the squares to show the number.

My daughter enjoyed working on this one! She is great with numbers, so this was pretty easy for her, but I think it will be really helpful for my son. He can count the pumpkins and then color in the squares easily which will provide a great visual representation of the number.

Verdict: This "farm" box from Two Pink Balloons was another hit! I am always amazed at how much the activities they include appeal to my kids and overall, I love how unique this subscription is! The handmade materials are great quality and the educational aspect of the activities means that we are learning through play, which feels natural and allows for more creativity. I have admired handmade materials like these in shops and at craft fairs and I know how costly they can be, so I feel like the value we got in this box is well worth the $40 + free shipping cost of the box!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I hope they run a black Friday deal. It is just a bit above my price bracket BUT this is super high quality.

The quality looks very good compared to some other subscriptions. If I had anyone in this age bracket, I would definitely subscribe.
