Target "Great Complexions" Beauty Box Review - Holiday 2019

Everything came packaged in this clear bag with blue trim, and I am happy with the quality for the price of this kit. It is already in use!

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, 1 oz - Retail Value $5.50

I tried this out last year in the infamous Target x Dermstore Box, but I am always happy to have more. I am a big believer in double cleansing when I am wearing makeup, and this cleansing oil does a great job of breaking down my makeup and any dirt from the day. I love the small size of this, too- it is perfect for tossing in my purse in case I end up not making it home after going out so I don't have to sleep with my makeup. This oil cleanser washes away cleanly, but I still prefer to follow up with another cleanser to make sure my face is fully prepped for the lotions and potions that follow in my skincare routine.

Too Cool for School Egg Mellow Cream, 0.5 oz – Estimated Value $10.73 (Buy the 1.76 oz version for $36.49)

I don’t know if this moisturizer firms my face like it claims, but I like how multi-use this is- it can be used as a serum, moisturizer, eye cream, or sleeping mask! This is made with egg yolk extract, niacinamide, and collagen, and it absorbed easily into my skin. If using it as a sleeping mask I would recommend applying it on thicker, but overall this is a handy moisturizer to have in your arsenal.

Vichy Mineral 89 Skin Fortifying Daily Booster, 0.14 oz - Estimated Value $2.48 (Buy the 1.69 oz version for $29.99)

I like this serum- I have found that my skin is the happiest when I am layering on thin, hydrating layers, and this serum fits in perfectly for that. It is made with mineral-rich thermal water and hyaluronic acid, and melted from a thin gel into water as I applied it to my skin.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Facial Cleanser, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value $0.55 (Buy the 13.52 oz version for $14.99)

This cleanser is a great second cleanse! The texture is thin and milky, and it was incredibly gentle on my skin. Considering how big this full-size product is, I thought this was a great product for the cost.

Sweet Chef Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shot, 0.24 oz - Estimated Value $4.80 (Buy the 1 oz version for $19.99)

This brand makes one of my favorite sheet masks (and their parent company is Glow Recipe!), so I was stoked to try this serum out. Ginger is an anti-inflammatory and vitamin C is full of antioxidants, and this serum also has algae and turmeric root extract. It absorbed quickly into my skin and left a slightly tacky finish, but that isn't an issue for me because I always follow my serums with a moisturizer.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value $6.76 (Buy the 1.7 oz version for $22.99)

This moisturizer may be a hidden drugstore gem- I loved it! The texture reminds me a lot of the belif Aqua Bomb moisturizer, only at about half the price. It was lightweight while still being hydrating, and it absorbed into my skin quickly without leaving a tacky finish.

Verdict: Target always puts out some cute holiday beauty kits, so I was excited to get my hands on this one. I appreciate that this set gives you a start to finish nighttime routine- if you have any upcoming trips, all you need to do is add a sunscreen to have all of your skincare bases covered. My one complaint is that Target promised a total value of $40 with this set, and by my math they are coming up short with a total value of $30.82.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you order today? Yes, as of publication, this box is still available for purchase.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Jessica, it looks like you calculated the values in the review correctly, but then divided everything in half when you added it all up at the end.

Never mind; ignore me! I’m looking at the wrong thing.

Just FYI…these will be 30% off for Black Friday. I plan on stocking up for stocking stuffers.

Do I remember correctly that last Black Friday, Target had all beauty sets Buy 1, Get 1 free?

If you go to brads deals Black Friday he post all the ads for Black Friday. That’s where I found the ad. It’s a great site for deals.

JuJu

I don’t remember this.

I bought this, it’s great for travel and I love DHC and any serum.

I think often target (and other retailers) get the RV from the cost of the smaller versions of the product, which are more per ounce.

Linda

Might just get this. One of their better sets, I believe…

When you follow the link and look at the bottom of the page – you’ll see several other target bags and some $10 beauty advent calendars – more my speed than those $100+ calendars

Can you also give a quick overview of each product’s scents/fragrances, and if present, how strong they are?

I am very sensitive to fragrances and it would really help to know what to expect.

This reminds me, I still have that DHC from last year’s Dermstore Target bag. I am going to use that tonight

How much you want to bet they calculated the clear bag as part of the $40 value and that is where the missing $10 is 🤣

Debbie

No Bet!! 😂. I think you are dead on correct! Target has not been brining it’s A game, that’s for sure

Great review! This is a great gift for $15.00.

Eh, it’s all relative. Considering that the December Allure beauty box is going to have a $40 ABH palette in addition to 4-5 other items, all for $15, this doesn’t exactly strike me as a great value.

That Neutrogena Hydroboost is so amazing! Hands down one of my favorites.💜
