Soko Glam "Glow-ing Away" Travel Set Review

Here is the info sheet for the box, along with a helpful guide to where in your routine the products fit in.

E Nature Moringa Cleanser, 0.14 oz - Estimated Value $1.27 (Buy the 2.53 oz version for $23)

I love cleansing balms! For those who are unaware, you take a small amount of this balm and massage it into your face where it transforms into an oil and removes makeup, sunscreen, and dirt.

Neogen Real Cica Micellar Cleansing Foam, 0.67 oz - Estimated Value $1.50 (Buy the 6.76 oz version for $15)

I knew by the words "cica" and "micellar" that this cleanser would be gentle, and I was right! This was a great second cleanse after the cleansing balm reviewed above, and I think anyone with dry, sensitive skin would enjoy this. This sample is a great example of how you can discover new products to love-  why would future me spend $30+ on a cleanser from Sephora when the full-sized version of this is so affordable?

Son & Park Beauty Water, 2 oz - Estimated Value $5.22 (Buy the 11.49 oz version for $30)

I was excited to get this sample- it’s been used on me before when I was getting my makeup done at Sephora (free with a $50 purchase, make sure y’all are taking advantage!), and I like how gentle it is. It’s part micellar water, part toner, and I like using it before I am going to apply makeup in the evening to make sure that my skin is clean and ready.

re:p Bio Fresh Mask with Real Calming Herbs, 0.70 oz - Estimated Value $4.92 (Buy the 4.55 oz version for $32)

This is a clay-based mask that did not dry out my skin, so I am already happy with it. This mask also has fresh rose and jasmine flowers along with calendula extract, and once I rinsed this mask away I did think my skin looked a touch brighter and definitely felt happier.

Missha Time Revolution FTE Intensive Moist, 1 oz - Estimated Value $9.66 (Buy the 5.07 oz version for $49)

I have heard a lot of great things about this Missha essence (it's supposed to be a more affordable dupe for this SK-II essence), and I did enjoy it. To be honest, I don't see essences becoming such an integral part of my skincare routine that I'll repurchase any when my subscription box supply is out. This version is made with fermented yeast that is supposed to help even skin tone and help to nourish and heal the skin over time.

Neogen Real Vitamin C Powder, 1 g - Estimated Value $1 (Buy the 20 g jar for $20)

A big issue with vitamin C serums is that some of the most effective forms of ascorbic acid have a short shelf life. This powder contains 17% ascorbic acid and is designed to be more shelf-stable since it is only mixed with liquid right before you apply it.  This was easy to use- it mixed well with the random toner I had sitting on my bathroom sink and didn't irritate my sensitive skin. Vitamin C products need to be used for about 4-6 weeks before seeing consistent results, but I appreciate how affordable this is if I decide to purchase the full-size.

Elensilia-CPP French Propolis 82% Ampoule, 0.51 oz - Retail Value $12.50

I didn’t think this was the full size because it’s a little baby at a little over half an ounce of product. I love propolis, and this has particles of gold that made the experience more fun along with niacinamide to help with brightening. I've been using this as a thicker nourishing layer between my essence and serums, and while a little goes a long way I am definitely going through this fast.

Benton Aloe Soothing Mask - Retail Value $2.40

I love Benton- I have tried a lot of their products, and I have actually used this exact sheet mask before. I am happy to have another one because this is a great, soothing mask for when my sensitive skin is irritated or I am dealing with a particularly painful hormonal acne breakout.

Klavuu WHITE Pearlsation Pearl Serum Mask - Retail Value $9

Klavuu is another brand I have tried before, but this mask was new to me. This sheet mask came with a mesh backing that helped to unfold the mask, and it fit my face really well. I actually wrote in my notes that wearing this mask felt like “my face was being hugged,” which made the experience more enjoyable than a standard sheet mask.

Mamonde Floral Hydro Eye Gel Cream, 0.16 oz - Estimated Value $7.53 (Buy the 0.68 oz version for $32)

The more Mamonde products I try, the more I fall in love with the brand. This eye cream is gentle and nourishing thanks to narcissus flower extract and hyaluronic acid, and I only needed a tiny bit to tap into the skin around my eyes for hydrated skin.

COSRX Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream - Buy the full-size 2.82 fl oz for $26

I love COSRX and will always be excited about trying products from them, even when it’s a cute little tune. This is made with ceramides that help your skin to retain moisture and strengthens your skins moisture barrier, but it wasn’t too heavy. This little tube didn't have a size listed, and if I had to guess I would say it was 0.17 oz, but that isn't a fully confident guess.

Thank You Farmer Sun Project Light Sun Essence, 1.40 oz - Retail Value $27

This was my first time trying Thank You Farmer and I really enjoyed this sunscreen. As a whole I find K-beauty sunscreens to be much more enjoyable to use, and this honestly felt like I was applying a light moisturizer to my face rather than sunscreen in terms of texture, absorbency, and scent. Plus, it didn’t pill under makeup!

d’Alba Travel Kit - Check out the d'Alba line of products here

This starter kit features the Peptide No-Sebum Mild Gel Cleanser, Peptide No-Sebum Balancing Toner, and Peptide No-Sebum Repair Cream. These products are more for oily skin types than dry while still being gentle, and all of the products feature white truffle. This set, along with my Missha essence, actually arrived slightly damaged in transit with a few minor spills, and Soko Glam no longer had the exact samples in stock to replace them. To rectify the situation they offered a comparable replacement essence and rewards points to choose a different travel kit of my choice, which I thought was a fair resolution.

Soko Glam Reusable Makeup Remover Pads, 2 ct

I have used pads like these before- something about the fabric material makes it easy to remove makeup with only water, only they worked really well with removing the cleansing balm as well.

Verdict: I loved this curated assortment of products from Soko Glam. It contained everything you need for a luxurious 10-step routine, and contained a good mix of products from well-known brands and ones that are new to me. I think the sunscreen would be a hit with everyone, and that product alone is worth only about $10 less than the cost of the entire box. I calculated a total value of $82 for almost everything, which is double the cost of the box. Overall, I am pleased with this and look forward to the next curation from Soko Glam.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you order today? Sadly, this box is now sold out. Keep an eye on our subscription box news to see when the next one becomes available!

Value Breakdown: At $39 for the cost of the box, you are paying about $2.78 per item.

So do you put the cleansing balm on dry skin? And do you need to use water to remove it? Then when you did the 2nd cleanse, did you remove the balm 1st or wash it off with the 2nd cleanse? Sorry, this is all new to me!

You scoop a small amount of the balm, and when you rub it between your hands it turns into a milky, oil cleanser. It rinses off easily, but you should follow up with a gel or foaming cleanser to get all the oil off.

Hi there!
Usually you apply cleansing balms with dry hands on dry skin and massage your makeup and sunscreen away. Then you rinse with water, and that is the first cleanse. The second cleanse is a normal face wash that removes any other traces and helps your skin to be balanced ph wise before you move on in your routine.

Thanks for reading! Hope this makes sense.

Thanks, y’all!

Hi MrsLittle- this is what I was told by my Korean friend: massage the cleansing balm onto your dry face, without being too rough, including over your mascara. Rinse off with water. Then do the second cleanse, wash it off as well. Hope that helps 🙂
