QVC TILI x Ashlee Nichols October 2019 Review

A small change I noticed with this new subscription model is the info sheet has notes about the items and tips on how to use them. Before, the info sheets would usually just include the ingredients of each item.

Campanelli FreshFace Makeup Remover Towel in Berry Paisley - Estimated Value $4.80 (Buy a pack of 5 for $24)

I did not love this, for reasons completely specific to me. The instructions said to wash and dry this in the washing machine before using, and I am not on board with anything that tries to make me do more laundry than I already have to. So I didn't, and I still found that this worked similar to other makeup-removing towels. Since I didn't wash it before using the colors may bleed out when I throw it in the wash eventually, but that will be with my navy bath towels that I am not worried about staining. Am I a trash adult? Maybe slightly.

BECCA Skin Love Brighten & Blur Primer, 0.20 oz - Estimated Value $7.80 (Buy the full-size 1 oz version for $39)

I really love BECCA- the Hydra-Mist Setting Powder has become my holy grail setting powder, and I use their rose gold liquid highlighter every morning mixed with my tinted moisturizer. This primer has a slight blurring and smoothing effect that felt like it absorbed into my skin rather than creating a layer on top, which I really liked.

Aquis 01 Prime Water Defense PreWash, 3.4 oz – Estimated Value $8.22 (Buy the 12 oz version for $29)

This is a pretty innovative concept, and I am a fan. You spray it into dry hair and let it sit for at least two minutes before jumping in the shower, and the blend of coconut oil, keratin, and amino acids work to strengthen your hair and prevent breakage, which is more likely to occur when your hair is wet. I am not sure if this lives up to its promises, but it is a simple enough addition to my shower routine that using it consistently isn’t an issue.

Perricone MD Cold Plasma+ Advanced Eye Cream, 0.17 oz - Estimated Value $37.40 (Buy the full-size 0.5 oz version for $110)

I love reviewing subscription boxes because half the time I don't know the value of the product I am trying until I sit down to do the review, and now I get to laugh at myself for accidentally squeezing out like $10 of eye cream this morning. I am still on the hunt for my holy grail eye cream, and this one is supposed to target the four signs of aging around the eyes- dark circles, puffiness, crow's feet, and loss of firmness. The texture is a bit thick and took about a second longer to fully absorb, but it left the delicate skin around my eyes feeling hydrated without heaviness.

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara, 0.3 oz - Full-Size! Retail Value $25

Alright, I need to know- do eyelashes change as we age? I remember trying this before (multiple times, as the sample-size version of this is pretty common in sub boxes) and not being impressed, but now I love it. I noticed a big improvement in the length and volume of my lashes, and I had zero issues with clumping. Plus, the cost of this is the same as the cost of the box, so you can look at it as paying full price for the mascara with everything else being a free bonus.

Hey Honey Take Away the Drama Youth Boosting Honey & Copper Peel Off Mask, 0.4 oz - Estimated Value $9.80 (Buy a 2 oz tube for $49)

*Note- the product listing said this would be 0.5 oz, but the size listed on the sample is 0.4. oz

I am pretty anti peel-off masks because they can be damaging to your skin, so I always patch test on my leg or arm before using these type of masks on my face. This mask is a pretty bronze color, but I felt like it took a long time to dry. After the patch test I felt like this was too strong of mask to use on my face, so I will be passing it along.

TULA Hydrating Day & Night Cream, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $24 (Note- the 0.5 oz version online is in a jar instead of a tube, but it is the same amount of product)

I love TULA (the sheet masks from them that came in Ipsy Glam Bag Plus one time are some of my all-time favorites), so I was happy to see this moisturizer. All of their products contain probiotics, and this cream also has peptides and watermelon fruit extract. I thought it was a good balance between being lightweight and heavy, though dry skin types will probably need a heavier night cream now that cold weather is upon us.

Nest Fragrances Midnight Fleur EDP, 0.04 oz - Estimated Value $4 (Buy the 0.27 oz version for $27)

Nest Black Tulip is one of my favorite perfumes, so I was happy to try out this sample. Midnight Fleur has notes of exotic wood, patchouli, black amber, jasmine, and vanilla orchid, and it gives me floral vibes but florals with a dark side. It is definitely a sensual fragrance to me, which is how I know it is a winner.

The Verdict: While I am not familiar with Ashlee Nichols, I thought she curated a really nice box. Along with having an outstanding value ($121.02 by my math), I am happy that we received both full-size and full travel-sized products- especially that Benefit mascara! I also appreciate that while this is now a monthly subscription, you can see the contents of the box before the next month and decide to cancel if it isn't for you.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.
