Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson, which includes a plus size line of their fashionable workout gear! You can shop their line in two different ways—either you can shop through their regular store or sign up as a VIP member. The VIP Membership works like this:
- Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
- Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $24.00 for new members. (I’m not sure if “new members” refers to just your first order, though.)
- Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you’d get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If you do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
- As you shop, you’ll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.
Unlike a lot of other subscription boxes, you are not automatically sent a package each month. You have to go into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call into Fabletics customer service to do it.

If you want, you can choose to skip the month, and you won’t be charged. Grove Sneaker, Size 9.5 — Retail Value $49.95, VIP Price $39.95
This month's selections strayed from my typical outfit selections; I wanted to try out Fabletics' footwear and socks to give you an honest opinion on both. I have been on a big sneaker kick since I started going to the gym more often. I have a pair strictly for the gym and another pair I wear on the streets for more casual activities like power walking. This is a big improvement from the one single pair of knockoff Vans I wore till they disintegrated. I have especially been on the hunt for a pair of white sneakers. I will blame my friend, Jamie, who effortlessly styled a pair of white Adidas sneakers with a gold velour dress and navy beret last year at The Curvy Con in NYC. She planted the seed for the desire for some old school white sneakers reminiscent of the LA Gear sneakers I had as a young girl. I had selected these sneakers thinking they were white all over, but then realized there are pastel blue and baby pink details on the bank. They are so faint, though, I barely notice the color difference. These are rather comfortable. I walked two miles on the treadmill with ease in these kicks. I styled my new shoes with a Fabletics sports bra I reviewed back in August of 2018 and Fabletics leggings I reviewed in April of 2018! Goes to show how well these pieces are made! These sneakers are fantastic at the gym, but serve function and style on the streets as well. I love styling them with skinny black jeans, an old band shirt, and a faux-leather biker jacket. Just call me Rhonda Ramone in that ensemble.

I am always on the hunt for socks-- I manage to lose them constantly! I got a pack of Puma brand socks at Costco a few months ago, but managed to lose a few pairs already! I generally hate wearing socks, so when I do opt to wear them I want them to be hidden in my shoe. All three pairs I selected are lower cut socks. I have worn them all with a few pairs of sneakers and you barely can tell I have socks on. All three pairs provide breathability. I have worn them all at the gym and haven't experienced much if any slippage and my feet are always dry and fresh even after working out for a while. The quality is decent, but I must say for the price-- I may just stick with my tried and true Costco socks. If I can find them, that is!
Verdict: This month was an interesting change of pace (pun intended) with reviewing Fabletics' footwear and socks! The sneakers were my favorite of the items I selected. My brand new kicks are retro and remind me of my childhood in the late '80s/early '90s. Scrunchies are making their way back, so why wouldn't the white high tops of our youth as well? It is refreshing to wear a high top again as opposed to the Keds, Vans, and Chuck Taylor-style sneakers I had been wearing for some time. The shoes provide support and are reasonably priced, but I could possibly get another brand like Reebok or Nike at a department store like Kohl's or JC Penney's for a similar price on sale or with a coupon. Regardless, I am pleased with my purchase and the quality of my new shoes!

Value Breakdown: The Grove Sneakers are $39.95 and the socks are usually $4.95 or $11.95 for three pairs with the VIP discounts. That is $51.90 without taxes. Without VIP discounts the shoes would be $49.95 and the socks would be $5.95 a pair. Without discounts, all the items would have totaled to $ 67.80, which means I saved $15.90! That is roughly a 23% savings! That’s not too shabby!
