Detox Box Review - November 2019

The Detox Box
3.8 overall rating

The Detox Box is a green beauty subscription box from The Detox Market that costs $55/month. You'll usually receive 2-3 products from a featured brand each month that follows their strict ingredient standards and helps you discover non-toxic ways to continue your beauty routine. What I love about this subscription is that I can try popular and undiscovered brands alike at a really good value!

The Detox Box November 2019 Review feat. SPARITUAL

Like every Detox Box, you'll receive two cards with your products. One introduces the featured brand (SPARITUAL) and has a short Q+A with the founder Shel Pink, and the other card details the four products that Detox Market has curated this month.

SPARITUAL Earl Grey Body Salve, 3.4 oz. - Retail Value $46.00

There is something so fun to me about the word "salve." It's just one that I right away think "yeah- this SALVE will really get the job done." They don't call wimpy products "salves," ya know? With that name, you know you're getting into some heavy-duty restoration and healing. That being said, this is meant to be used right out of the shower and you'll see the at-first thick salve made with carnauba wax, cocoa butter, and jojoba oil melt into an oil as it hits your skin. There will be a slightly oily feel until it soaks in which doesn't take long. My skin looked brighter without the dullness that winter usually brings and talk about supple- whoa!

SPARITUAL Earl Grey Body Creme, 6 oz. - Retail Value $45.00

Okay- so what is the difference between this creme and the above salve? Why do I need both? This creme has aloe, jojoba oil, shea butter, and tamarind seed and will "help promote skin elasticity" as well as "protect from environmental stressors." I've been using it as a super hydrating hand lotion when I've been washing my hands too much, and the Earl Grey scent is quite calming and nice. It kind of reminds me of when I'm getting a massage and I can slather this all over my body at night before bed to get some intense moisture locked in while I sleep. This creme comes in a thick opaque form that really feels nourishing.

SPARITUAL Citrus Cardamom Foot Balm, 3.4 oz. - Retail Value $30.00

I can't help but think of my sister-in-law when I see this because she loves foot creams and moisturizing in general. I have a list of all the beauty items to put aside for her and this whole box (except the next product below) is going straight to her! This one was sent in the citrus cardamom variation which seems to be the only scent available. Using this balm transports me to a magical pedicure feeling and I know this would be well received after a long hike or a day of holiday shopping. The formula contains aloe, papaya extract, tamanu oil, and shea butter which all will nourish and restore moisture to the driest areas like the heel of my foot or pads of my hard-working toes!

SPARITUAL Citrus Cardamom Moisture Balm, 0.42 oz. - Retail Value $26.00

I've been using this moisture balm stick for over a week and I just love it. I love how chubby it is, and even though I've only been using it on my lips, it can also be used on other dry areas like elbows, hands, or anywhere that gets chapped. The stick is super convenient and non-greasy. My skin drinks it up and it smells so delightful due to its uplifting citrus cardamom scent.

Verdict: I was surprised by this month's Detox Box selection but I think they chose well. Sending a super hydrating body creme, balm, and salve at this part of the year was smart and all of the items are full-size to last until spring. The moisture balm is my favorite just because I love a good lip balm, but I also really like the body creme that comes in the alluring Earl Grey scent. I think this box would also make an amazing gift since it says "self-care" all over it for someone like my sister-in-law!

There were a lot of complaints about this box when spoilers came out, but Sparitual is one of my favorite brands and I think a lot of people will change their minds after trying the products. It’s definitely a seasonally appropriate box, too!

This was my last month of my sub! At first I was disappointed, but then I started using the products and they are great!

I’ll keep a lookout for box spoilers and just buy one offs for now, but this is def a sleeper agent of a box! Doesn’t look too fancy and then you’ll fall in love 🙂
