Now, on to the items!

Natasha Denona Bloom Blush & Glow Palette - Retail Value $55.00

Natasha Denona has some serious hype attached to her brand, so I was eagerly awaiting this palette after the spoilers. At first glance, I was really unsure about the colors, even after swatching them, especially that beautiful but super bold blush! I decided to see if there were any tutorials online and found one by Natasha herself! After a quick watch, I felt a lot more prepared to try this one out. The top two shades are both cream-based, and come complete with a handly clear door that opens and closes to keep them hydrated and free of fallout from the other powders. I very gingerly dipped a blush brush into the deep berry shade and buffed it onto my cheeks. I had to give this a second try because WOW a little goes a long way, especially if you generally buy the palest shade of foundation available. Once I got the correct amount down, it was genuinely beautiful and reminded me a little of Benefit Benetint but like, times 1000 and with some shimmer. It is a deep berry-red and totally different than my normal pale pinks and peaches. There is a learning curve, but I think I like it a lot! The other cream is a peachy golden shade that reminded me of the NARS Multiple Stick in cult-favorite 'Orgasm'. The powders are both intense and highly pigmented, and if you dislike shimmer, these probably aren't for you. They can be used as highlighters and eyeshadows and give such a lovely glow. One takeaway from the video is that everything in this palette is multi-use, which is brilliant. For example, you can use that bold blush on your eyes and lips too!

Top to bottom: Glow Cream Base, Cream Blush, Glow Extreme, Duo Glow

QMS Medicosmetics Intensive Eye Cream, 17 ml - Listed Value $150.00 (this product is normally sold in a 15 ml size for $145.00)

This brand is unfamiliar to be, but wow, that pricetag. I love an eye cream, especially in the morning to combat my dull under eyes, but this stuff is so rich and heavy that I will reserve it for evenings. It honestly feels like an under-eye sleep mask! The main ingredients listed are jojoba, avocado oil, silk acacia, and hyaluronic acid, all of which come together to form a total moisture bomb for my skin. After sleeping in it once, the skin around my eyes looked positively plump in the morning, and my dullness was greatly reduced. I will likely keep this on reserve throughout the winter months when my face really suffers from the cold winds, and that delicate skin is crying for moisture.

Kopari Coconut Rose Toner, 5.1 fl oz - Retail Value $25.00

I am always amused at what my favorite item ends up being in each box because it can be so random. The award this round goes to this toner. I absolutely love this stuff. I am a toner addict in general, so I knew the odds were in my favor, but I didn't expect to add this to my regular rotation (AKA I will literally buy it again and again) until I spritzed it onto my face the first time. If you read any of my reviews, you know I don't usually love food smells, and fruity ones are a hard pass 90% of the time. I should hate this coconut product but wow, combine it with rose and it is a different thing altogether. I LOVE this scent. Ok, ok, I know this isn't perfume, so let's get into more skin-related details. This spray is over-the-top hydrating. It is perfect for using between your cleanser and serums as that extra moisture helps serums and creams absorb more effectively. As a bonus, you will also need to use less of those pricy products over time, which is a win-win. Because it has coconut oil inside, it also adds even more moisture to your skin, meaning it is a dream for morning use before makeup and also as a little hydration boost throughout the day. And for $25? Done.

Dragun Beauty Dragunfire Skin Perfecting Potion, 4 ml - Retail Value $25.00

I thought this was a lipstick at first glance, but then realized it was an orange concealing potion I had read about previously. Seriously though, how intimidating is this color? I had to look up a few videos to figure out what I was actually doing, and learned that it was to be used on dark spots, acne, and other discolored areas of my face. I don't have a ton of that going on (thankfully!) but I decided to try it on under my eyes because they can certainly be on the dull side. After I applied it, I blended it out with a brush and honestly, it looked like I was covered in flaming hot Cheeto dust. I then applied my normal (and, admittedly, lighter coverage) foundation and concealer on top. Did this product brighten my undereye? Maybe? I don't know! I feel like I had to apply SO much makeup over it just to cover up the orange that my undereye area did look more even. Was this from the extra makeup or the potion though? I did find a helpful video of someone else with super fair skin making it work beautifully, but I still feel like I was just adding to the ruddiness I normally try to conceal. Regardless, even if this product was not for me, I applaud Boxy for including such a niche product from an indie brand that a lot of people are probably curious about. I have never seen it in another box I have reviewed, which is pretty impressive.

BoxyCharm 5 Piece Brush Set -  Listed Value $65.00

I already reviewed these in my regular BoxyCharm review, and I love them! As far as subscription box branded brushes go, these are waaaay beyond any I have ever tried and I am thrilled they feel so high-quality, especially when that can be questionable with some box collabs. They remind me very much of the oval foundation brushes that have been so popular as of late, but they feel much more versatile somehow. This set has it all, from facial brushes to eye and highlighter heads. They pick up powders and creams beautifully, and the domed heads provide the most beautiful blending. I do wish the handles had been heavier, but this is a very small complaint.

BECCA Glow Gloss, 5 g - Retail Value $22.00

I really like this brand, though I prefer their lipsticks with those satisfying magnets that make them click loudly when you put the lid on! This champagne gloss is lovely on its own and also gorgeous as a topper to your favorite lipsticks and stains. It has a minty scent which confused me at first. Did BECCA formerly have a slightly different version of this that smelled like super sweet and marvelous? Am I crazy? Either way, though I preferred the possibly imagined sweet version, this is an awesome gloss with wonderful shimmer and sheen!

Verdict: My BoxyCharm box has an overall value of $342 which is an incredible value for a $35 box. I think the first BoxyCharm Premium box was pretty solid indeed! The value was more than there and the selection of brands felt elevated and higher-end. I think I really prefer fewer high-value items to loads of products I feel more indifferent about, and this amount felt great to me.  I loved the palette, Kopari spray, eye cream, brushes, and BECCA gloss. The Dragun Beauty potion was a miss for me, but I still appreciate it being included because it is so different and I bet other subscribers with warmer skin tones might just love it. I am so looking forward to next month!

Regarding BC Premium, I also was upset when I did not get the box. I stalked the website for two days and when the list opened I signed up immediately. However, BC has me very confused. First of all, why do they continue to lie stating the boxes were issued on a first come first served basis, when we all know this is not true? Secondly, BC should stroll over to Facebook marketplace and see how many of their customers are selling their Premium Boxes. Perhaps they will rethink rewarding their loyal subscribers! This month, after the Premium fiasco, we were all invited to the Pop Up that never popped..lmao! Does Joe know that when you advertise an event, its usually a good idea to follow through? I think BC has either bitten off more than they can chew, or they just don’t give a damn and making money is all that is on their minds. Either way, it stinks!!

I just wanna apologize for the length of this comment in advance .

Hi, is anyone else frustrated by promo codes that are for new subscribers only, or in this case those who cancelled before October 1st.

I’ve been a subscriber since 2014, and I have never seen them give promo for their current subscribers. I love boxycharm and when they came out with boxyluxe I pounced. I get two subscriptions of their box. I rave about this box to friend and family Because it really is a great subscription box. However I’m just so tired of always seeing gifts for new subscribers but never anything for those of us who stay with them every month, and year.!

I thought since the premium box is new everyone would have access to use this code since we’re all technically new premium subscribers.

I emailed them about this and was told :

Thanks for writing in! This month, using the code GOBBLEGIFT at checkout, Charmers will receive a free Tarte palette as a special token for activating their subscription to BoxyCharm. Charmers will receive either the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping palette OR Tarte Park Avenue Princess palette. The palette sent will be a surprise. Please be well informed that this offer is only valid for new subscriber or those who canceled before October 1st.

Although you are not able to take part on this promotion, rest assured that we have many more exciting promotions and giveaways coming that a precious Charmer like you will surely love. So stay tuned on our social media pages for an update.

We hope this helps and if you need further assistance, please let us know. We hope you have a Charming day ahead!

Has anyone actually seen a perk for current subscribers? I haven’t.

Well I just got a email asking how they did and if I’m satisfied I wrote back and told them I wasn’t satisfied with how they treat their loyal customers.

Here’s my response:
Hi I submitted a response to your “unsatifised/ satisfied survey.

I’ll copy and paste what I wrote below:

I think the issue of not allowing your current subscribers who want to become premium members use the promo code for new premium subscriptions is Absurd and unjust.

I’m a new premium member and deserve the perks you’re Allotting others. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, I technically started receiving boxycharm back in 2014 under a email with my name vs this current one. You’ve never offered promotional codes for your loyal customers but are always offering them to lure in new ones. The value in your business should be to keep your customers and not make them feel less valued than a new one, who may just join for the promo.

Which is why this new promo is so disheartening.

I thought for sure a promo code that was for the premium box would work for everyone seeing how it’s a new subscription and everyone is technically a new subscriber of this box .

The response to my inquiry promised promos for long time members but I’ve never seen one and don’t have much faith that one will be awarded later.

I’ve decided against joining the premium box. I’ll be thinking long and hard about wether I want to keep my other subscriptions with you guys too.

The reply to my inquiry has me feeling completely dismissed and unvalued as a member. I guess perks are only for new members or those who cancel and then rejoin. It’s sad really.

Thanks,

Thanks for another great review! I wondered if anyone knows what time the Boxy Pop Up shop opens for current members? I know it opens Monday November 11th just wondering what time. I never get to shop cause I’m always late CAUSE they never post a dang time! I set my alarm for 7am central time.

Marcie

It is still not open for me!

THANK YOU! Pop Up is still not open, its 830AM cst

Still salty about this. But even tho I don’t like that you have to sub to base box to take premium and didnt sign up plenty of others did and subbed.
I told myself I would do it 11/1 if still available so I wouldn’t get October boxy but it wasn’t.
Hopefully they change this in the future. Would be nice to just sub to premium or luxe without the base box because I already know I am too picky for base box to please. I only like name brand palates oh well staying hopeful for change lol

Reply ButtonReply

Kimberly

I cancelled the base box and still got the premium. Maybe it was a mistake, but I’m okay with it.

Reply ButtonReply

Dot

Just ordered the five piece brush set on mercari 14 bucks Free shipping , that’s all I really wanted from premium anyway 😉

Reply ButtonReply

Tanya

I can see how it’s a bargain, but it would not have been a good value for me, since I wouldn’t use much in it. I’m happy for those that got it, but I think I’ll stick with my plain ol boxy with a periodic luxe.

Reply ButtonReply

Christina

Very underwhelmed by this box. If next month is similar I’ll go back to Luxe which looks better this month

Reply ButtonReply

Alice R

Same. Not enough here for me to use to validate the expense. I’m happy for those that are happy!

I am glad that I did not get off the waitlist. This box has awesome value, but so many product unsuitable for me. On the other hand, I got regular box yesterday and was so happy and impressed. Dominic eyeshadow palette is so pretty.
I love the brushes, but I only received two. I want full set, going off to e bay to buy full set . Seems like a lot of people will be selling theirs.

Jacki

I really enjoyed your review Megan and I ❤️ this box. Sorry everyone wasn’t able to get one. I tried a small dot of the concealer/corrector spread over the back of my hand. It mostly obscured my freckles. It does seem to provide a nice even orange canvas with a very lightweight layer. Looks so strange on my pink skin lol. I’ll try it when I want a freckle free look. The Natasha Denona palette is gorgeous. I’m going to try the shimmers as eyeshadow and the dark cream blush on my lips.

Megan Kirkland

Thanks Jacki! It was a really fun box to review. With so much hype I am glad it was so good!

I didnt like the brushes or the dragun beauty..its really for men to cover up beards and hair…like it co ed their 5 o’clock shadow and since drag makeup is way thicker then women’s makeup it will look odd. Especially in daylight. This brand dont have much out and these didnt sell good or get good reviews on youtube….

I’m going to hold onto it and give it to a drag queen that performs that could actually use it.

Reply ButtonReply

Shari

>drag makeup is way thicker than normal makeup
As a person who uses undereye color correctors everyday, I can say this is much thinner than the top sellers: Becca, Bobbi Brown, Benefit. It’s extremely thin when compared to those. And it probably does work excellently for covering up facial hair but it also works wonderfully for covering up dark circles. Sure, if you’re fair skinned and use super light coverage/sheer products, it may end up looking cakey as you try to cover the peach tones but I’m extremely fair skinned and I wear medium coverage and had no problem covering it with my normal amount of foundation and concealer(which isn’t a lot).
Also, the fact that you’re taking what a couple of “gurus” say as gospel says a lot. And your grammar and spelling say the rest 😀

Reply ButtonReply

Makeup86

I’m not the person you’re replying to, but this rusty red color is not for the average little amount of blue discoloration lighter skinned people would get around the eyes. It absolutely was developed to cover a shaved beard or mustache shadow. It’s nice that products like this exist but it is a specialty product. Most people will put it in a landfill. It is not easy to use unless you actually need it. This is not a good method of distribution if you care about the Earth. There’s things I can use that most others can’t but I don’t think everyone should get one because that’s wasting resources. Furthermore, anyone who wants to try out this technique can do it with a red lipstick. That’s why this even exists.

Nickie Limberis

There are many who can benefit from this product- and if you are an MUA or makeup lover (as beauty box buyers usually are) I think this is fun to try. Jamey may just be inexperienced with this kind of product and its many uses. Mac and other lines have had these products for years. Do not be afraid to try it. It is not just for drag makeup.

Reply ButtonReply

JackieCupcake

The product is meant for any gender and is not specifically meant for covering facial hair (which by the way, women have too). Whether you intended to or not, this comment came across as ignorant.

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

Thanks, Jackie. Hey, super hairy Italian woman here. Def not a drag queen. Would love this product haha

Jamey

Check out manny or even rich lux video about the product. They and others said the same about this product. No , it’s not just meant for men, but the majority of everyday wear people wont use something like this. A lot of popular youtubers put on makeup to do a video and then take it off because they say it looks good on camera, but not in person or real life. Especially as you get older, the more products you use, especially under your eyes, in daylight or normal light looks cakey or bad. Even with blending or high end products. There is a balance for this. And when you use something like this, even if it’s a small amount, you must use more products to cover it. IE ; concealer, foundation, powder whatever your method is. I have many friend that do drag for a living and they perform nightly, and they ALL have told me that doing an everyday look vs a camera look, vs a performance look is all different, and how and what you use when they do makeup on men vs women is completely different. So it is what it is cupcake. I’m allowed to say my thoughts just as well as you or anyone else. I didnt put anyone down. It is what it is.
Hope you have a fabulous day/night

Jamey

Why are their “filters” on posting?! I just responded and it’s not here, even after a few minutes…

Jamey

AWW, how cute. I’m glad you thought I came across as “ignorant ” but even if you watch videos on youtube of people actually USING the product, manny, rich lux etc plus some ALL say about how men have more things to cover up and they (especially when performing) use heavier handed makeup. This product, even using a small amount you have to use a LOT of product to cover it up, and then blending it in, then setting it with powder….so yes, that is a LIT of products and extra steps.

Also, as we get older the skin around our eyes get thinner and if you use a lot of products even for under eyes and then go out in “normal lighting” it can look cakey and too much if your not careful.

It goes for each person..yes, it can be made universally and used for that, but preference and reality is a whole other thing. It is what it is. Also you watch and if you actually speak to a lot of youtubers, they will tell you the majority, and not all, but a lit when they do “makeup tutorials ” they dont leave the makeup on a long time, especially during the day because while it looks good on camera, in person is a whole other thing without filters, lighting etc.. so they put it on for the camera and then take it off after filming…that’s why you see a lot of them on snap chat or other platforms not in a full beat.

So cupcake , to each their own and I hope you have a fabulous day/ night!!

Chelsey

Ugh I really really wanted this box, if anyone want and to sell theirs let me know 😪

Still on waitlist for premium and boxy , was asked to pick products for luxe so that’s half promising . It’s like a lottery for premium so I’m not holding my breathe , plus it’s a lot of money and products to get boxy+premium+ luxe in one month December when it’s Xmas shopping time . But don’t want to give up spot just in Case 🤞🤞

Dimensions 9″ x 7″ x 3″ 2lbs anyone get this for regular BC ? And what did you get ? Thanks 🤗😊

Reply ButtonReply

Shari

Im super fair skinned with pretty intense hereditary dark circles. A peachy corrector is an everyday for me and I usually use the Bobby Brown one. I was not at all interested in the Dragun Beauty one because it looked way to dark. But I tried it anyway and WHOA. It’s actually soooo good. I did end up applying a bit more concealer than normal but my undereyes have never looked so good. I usually only succeed in toning down my dark circles and this almost completely got rid of them. I’m super impressed and will definitely continue using this.
But the Natasha Denona palette and the QMS were the stars of the show for me. With the ND palette, I took the berry color, tapped a tiny dot onto each cheek and blended and it was so gorgeous. And the QMS! I’m not a huge believer in eyecreams. I have a ton and use them everyday but it’s the one step in my routine that I don’t feel like it really does anything; I have no lines or wrinkles and nothing has ever diminished my dark circles. But this one is sooooo lovely, melts right in, super hydrating and smells fantastic. I’m only sad that when it’s gone, I know I’ll never drop $150 on an eyecream

Reply ButtonReply

Tanya M.

Shari, You and Megan have sold me on the ND palette.. I put in Beauylish cart and will likely pull the trigger Black Friday Weekend! Thanks for sharing. Megan, thanks for the review. I am not even trying to wait list but got the November basic sub box for the palette. Everything is grits and gravy. Can’t wait to see whether I get the serum or eye cream. Either will be fine.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan Kirkland

Hmmm Shari! You make me want to try the corrector again. Maybe it has a learning curve?

Reply ButtonReply

Shari

I went super light handed, just a couple tiny dots then blended it out with a fluffy concealer brush. I tried it again today before my foundation and it worked even better as I didn’t have to go in with extra concealer to completely cover it.
You should definitely give it another try if you have dark circles! It’s honestly a solid product

MrsLittle

This is honestly not a snarky question…what is the difference between plump skin under your eyes and puffy skin under your eyes?

Reply ButtonReply

Megan Kirkland

I think for me, one looks healthy and bright and the other looks red and tired. I tend to have dullness under my eyes because they get really dry.

Reply ButtonReply

Dot

Actually I’m going to reconsider this question , maybe lift skin is like what I get mentioned below . Maybe plump skin , I’ve noticed some of my friends due to Genes and hereditary have more skin under there eyes no cream could help. That’s what I’m thinking . Just a thought 🤔

Reply ButtonReply

Dot

Good question, I consider them the same . But I do notice when my allergies act up or not enough sleep or water ( which I drink tons except when super busy at work) my left eye seems to have more noticeable puffiness there , my right eye nothing. I’ve switched to satin pillowcases which I feel has helped my hair and skin and my left eye since I sleep on my left side . Also keep my eye creams in refrigerator bc of course the cold is a vasoconstrictor and helps with puffiness . My lifesaver though is the inkey list caffeine eye cream it seems to help a lot.

Do you have to get regular box in order to get the premium box.

Regluer+premium= both

I only want one not both and tgey are expensive together
So how can I just get the premium box but not the regular????

Reply ButtonReply

Jackie

The first month you have to get both. After that you can cancel the regular.

Reply ButtonReply

Vena

I’m so upset that I didn’t get the premium box! I signed up within minutes of the notification for it, while my friend signed up the next day and she got it!! I reached out to them about it and haven’t received a response. This and the issues I had with missing/broken items in the October box are making me wonder what’s going on with them.

Reply ButtonReply

Jess

Me too! I am so upset cuz I literally signed up within 5 minutes of it opening and I also let a friend know, that didnt do it until that evening and she got it while i was waitlisted. Shes also only been with Boxy for 6 months and I’ve been with them for 4 years. So they say it was in order of sign up but i know that not to be true. And obviously loyalty to the company doesnt mean squat either. But I love the value of what I get for what I pay so it hasn’t got me to the point of cancelling yet

Reply ButtonReply

Marianna

Your review is spot on with my thoughts. The brush handles are so light and top heavy. The funny thing about the Becca gloss is that I found it in TJMaxx last night for $6 😳 that’s weird. The ND palette came out around Feb 2019 and has a self life of 18 months.

Joy Jones

I hope i get this? I signed up for the wait list a while ago. Recently i tried to join again and my error message said you are already a subscriber? Does that mean im in? I hope so!

Check your account online, it will say either active or waiting. They sent November already, but hopefully you’ll be active for December, good luck 🙂

DocN

I got my box without the brush set. I contacted CS and they said they’ll check the availability of the brushes, which tells me I might never get them.

Reply ButtonReply

Teresa

I didn’t get the brushes either and I contacted them as well. I did see that the brushes were sold out so we might be out of luck….hopefully not. I’ve never experienced an issue with boxycharm until now so I’m hoping they make it right.

Jacqui

I wonder if they’ll be in boxy pop up next week!!!

Michelle

I’m still crying on the inside that I missed out on this box😩

Reply ButtonReply

Diane

I was so lucky to get the premium, seeing so many didn’t get off the waitlist. Mine came yesterday along with the base box. Wow! After my unboxing of both boxes, I was amazed and all the amazing products I received for 60.00 bucks. Boxy has come such a long way! I’m in love with you Boxy 😁

Reply ButtonReply

Jackie

I know, right?!? and the palette alone is $55! I feel guilty getting luxe and premium next month, that’s so much product, but I don’t want to lose my premium spot.

Reply ButtonReply

DG

I don’t blame you. I wouldn’t risk it either. I made that mistake with Luxe once and even though I signed back up 2 months before the next box I didn’t get off the waitlist. The upside is that so far it’s been such a good value it’s probably not going to matter much even if you have an off month where you get a few duds. It’s still better to just keep that spot!

DG

Thank you for saying that, Diane! I’m already reading so many complaints about December’s Premium and it’s so infuriating. Only a very small percentage of people made it off the waitlist for November. I knew I was doomed because I didn’t see the announcement and sign up until 3 hours after it opened. But I was truly shocked when I saw so many people all over social media that signed up IMMEDIATELY and still didn’t get off the waitlist. Those folks will be lucky to get December’s box and people like me will likely be waitlisted until Spring at the rate Boxy’s going. Boxyluxe was started over a year ago and people still get waitlisted for months to get it.

I actually feel it’s very irresponsible (not to mention a total waste of company time and resources that desperately need to go elsewhere like customer service) for a company to push a product so widely and aggressively across every possible platform. Especially after they’ve completed a first round sign-up/interest list and clearly see the number of people that want it and know full well they have so few available.
I really think their motto should be, “Always aware, but never prepared.”

One can only assume this strategy is to make those that get off the waitlist feel special and lucky to get such an exclusive, highly sought-after box. Unfortunately that’s not how several of the very lucky few are seeing it. I understand why people are upset about having to choose between two palettes for December one of which is already going to be included in Luxe but 1.) Not everyone wants Luxe or can even get Luxe and 2.) SO MANY people would be incredibly grateful to just get off the waitlist for December’s Premium that they’d likely sacrifice the privilege of choosing a product just to be able to get the box period. I know I would.

So thank you for having such a great attitude about Premium. Maybe the other people are just not aware that probably less than 10% of people that signed up for Premium actually got it. I don’t imagine that number is going to go that much higher for December. Given how few boxes they were able to put together for November, I would be totally shocked if even 25% more get taken off the list. I just can’t see them being able to obtain that much more inventory in one month, let alone a holiday month.

Anyway, congrats to you and all who got Premium! Please enjoy it and if you are too disappointed about next month’s spoilers feel free to open up more spots for the rest of us. 😉

Reply ButtonReply

Jackie

I felt the same about ipsy plus, waiting for them to open up spots for six months and people who have it are complaining every month. So much complaining.

You are such an awesome reviewer! Thank you for the review. We are box twins of course lol, and mine came the other day, but I’m always intrigued to hear what others think too! I must say I give you credit for even trying the color corrector. It’s going straight into one of my giveaways on IG 😘

Thanks Jill! It was a great box to review. I also think that there weren’t dupes for this one (which, is refreshing!) but with Boxy even I am not 100% sure sometimes!

I think all premium boxes were the same in November, but with choice coming in December there will be at least 2 different boxes, can’t wait to see the choices!

I was very pleased with this box! The only thing I am not thrilled with is the Dragun potion, but I am also fair complexion, so it seems like it creates more work, but I’m glad to see a different product like that! Great box, hope it continues!

Flaming Cheetos! Thanks for the morning laugh. I thought it was a lip color tube all this time!
What a great value in this box.
