Bombay & Cedar "Agility" Review
The box comes with a booklet of information that lists out the products and highlights some of the brands. The theme this month is "Agility."
Spearmint Essential Oil, 10 ml - Listed Value $14.00
Rosemary Essential Oil, 10 ml - Listed Value $14.00
This was an interesting combo this month. Spearmint is so energizing and rosemary is a cozy scent! I wouldn't even use these two together, but both blend beautifully with my other two faves: lavender and sweet orange.
IQ Bar - Buy 12 for $24.99
This box always sends a treat that I seem to enjoy more often than not. This month was a yummy bar with chocolate chips! It has brain-boosting nutrients and a nice amount of protein, so it was perfect for a 3pm slump!
Hemp Seed Body Care Spray Oil, 8 fl oz - Retail Value $15.99
I probably would have liked this oil if it weren't for the cucumber/melon scent. It was way too sweet and food-y for my nose, and reminded me of summer and Bath & Body Works. The oil itself felt nice on my skin and was quick-absorbing, so if you like these sorts of scents you might enjoy this oil mist much more than I did.
399 Games to Keep Your Brain Young – Retail Value $16.95 (found here for $11.69)
I don't like puzzles very much. Ok, I don't like them at all! This book is full of them and encourages you to do a few a day to keep your mind sharp. My mind has already been ruined by video games, but I know my Nana loves puzzle books. I will pass this on to her to enjoy. She will likely be much more into them than I.
Almost Famous Brow Shaver - Listed Value $24.00- $29.00
This was a variant item, and it looks like there were a few different tools from this brand possible in this month's assortment. I ended up with a brow shaver, which, sadly, I don't see myself using. I have been trying to grow my brows out for years now after chronically over-plucking them. I basically pluck a hair every so often with tweezers, but if you have seen any images of me on this site, you know I don't really maintain them at all. It is what it is! I will pass this along to someone with much fleeker brows.
Ampere Creations Vegan Handbag - Retail Value $35.00
This purse is pretty cute. It is a nice shade of green and as far as pleather goes, the quality isn't bad! I am always going to prefer real leather (I actually don't carry pleather) but this little bag is very cute if you prefer non-animal options. The interior is a cream-and-brown striped fabric and it comes with both a crossbody strap and a short wristlet leash.
Pocket Aroma - Retail Value $19.99
This box sometimes tends to send along an aromatherapy item of some sort along with the two bottles of oils. This month was a portable aromatherapy kit containing 12 different colorful bottles and 18 wicks you can drop oils on and place inside. You can then take your custom blends with you wherever you want, and never be without your fave uplifting or relaxing oils. Each is about the size of a lighter, which makes them extremely portable, but people might eyeball you if you are sniffing them in public.
Charcoal Infused Exfoliating Towel - Listed Value $7.00
I thought this was kind of an odd addition to this box. It felt a little unexciting. I do see the allure though, as charcoal-infused fibers help detox your skin, and the exfoliating texture is great for energizing your skin, especially after the gym.
IPO Cosmetics 4-Step Facial Kit - Retail Value $15.00
I liked these Korean-made masks. This set came with 2, and each is meant to be used before a special event. There are 4 steps in different compartments within each pouch. The 4 steps included are an exfoliating scrub, sheet mask, hydration cream, and finally an eye cream. I don't have anywhere special to be going until later in the holiday season, but doing one of these on a Tuesday night still felt really fancy!
Verdict: I didn't love this month's Bombay & Cedar. It actually felt more than a little disjointed in terms of a theme, at least to me. There were a few wins in here for me, notably the essential oils and facial masks. I thought the portable aromatherapy kit was very interesting, though I am not sure how practical this is for me personally since I have so many roll-ons I love. Aside from these items, I wasn't really feeling the rest of the box, though each of these items will make nice little gifts for someone else.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but order by 11/12 to get the November box!
Value Breakdown: This box costs $49.95 + $6.95 shipping, which means that each of the 10 items in the box has an average cost of $5.69.
