The K-Beauty Box September 2019 Review

I'm still not sure if The K-Beauty Box has a dedicated curation each month, or if they just have curated boxes that they send at random each month. I have a feeling it's the latter so you may not receive the same box as I did. They include an info pamphlet that lists out all of the included products and how to use them. They don't list values though and these can be hard to pin down online.

VT Black Collagen Essence, 3.38 oz.

Oooh- yes. The fact that this line is called "BLACK" and has sleek packaging appealed to my goth senses. The essence is a very light cream that immediately made my skin feel soft and touchable. Like, it almost feels like silk somehow. It has the slightest bit of stickiness while it sinks in, but it slowly dissipates. The scent is sort of a subtle floral which isn't overpowering. I found this to be really moisturizing, so it's a win for me.

VT Black Collagen Cream, 1.69 oz.

Also in the BLACK collagen line is this "cream". Once I opened the jet black jar, I revealed a black gel-like consistency instead of something creamy like I envisioned from the name. Only a small amount was needed for me to slather over my face in a thin layer. It has a grey tint to it until you massage it in and then it goes away. I used this as directed, after the essence and it was a pretty good combo. The only thing I noticed is that later in the day, my neck felt a bit sticky. I'm not sure if it was this one or the other product, but it didn't seem to fully absorb there. While I think this looks cool, I prefer a creamier formula for moisturizing.

Charmzone DeAge Red-Addition Eye Cream, 0.84 oz.

The K-Beauty Box is 2 for 2 on sending eye creams. While I'm sure you've heard me say that I have a hard time noticing results from eye creams, I did find the skin around my eyes that I applied this to feeling extra soft. I don't think it did much for my dark circles, but I can tell it's hydrating the delicate skin around my eyes which should help with any wrinkling. Plus, DeAge is kind of a fun name for a product that is supposed to bring a youthful look to your skin.

Aritaum Ginger Sugar Lip Scrub, 12 g - Retail Value $5.90 (found here for $5.31)

Something about a lip scrub really gets me excited! I think that it's because I love lip products so much and want my lipsticks to look their best on my lips. That means I need to keep them plump and supple. Now that the temperature has dipped down into the 50s and 40s here in Pittsburgh, I need to make sure my lips don't get too dry. I found this scrub to have fewer gritty elements that the average scrub but had a really wonderful thick base. This is more like a lip mask with some scrubbies in it. I tend to try and leave it on before bed so it can moisturize while I sleep.

Aromatica Organic Aloe Vera Gel, 1.6 oz. - Estimated Value $2.33 (Buy 300 ml for $14)

Getting a clear aloe gel didn't really wow me, but I used this after taking what I call a "super shower" which means I shave my legs and exfoliate and do all the things I don't normally do on the daily. I took a good amount of gel to spread onto my freshly shaven legs and have to say that it turned out really nicely! It brought a lot of moisture to my dryest area. I did use quite a bit in one go though, so I don't think this will last a heck of a long time.

Jayjun Cosmetics Baby Pure Shining Mask - Retail Value $2.50 (found here for $2.30)

The K-Beauty Box has also been good at including a sheet mask in each box thus far. The one they've chosen from Jayjun has 3 steps that includes a small packet of "blooming essence" as well as "hydro eye cream" to use as the third step, after the "baby pure shining mask". The first step is a thick cloudy clear cream with a floral scent and cool feeling. It felt super nice on my skin. The sheet mask is a basic white fabric that is soaked with its own essence to be put over top the first layer. It doesn't have much of a scent at all but the essence feels really nice and nourishing. Once it was on for 20 minutes, I removed it and tried to massage in any extra. The third step is a small packet of eye cream which is a unique touch that I haven't seen before. I have no doubt that this mask improved my skin's elasticity and plumpness. Quite nice!

Bonus: The History of Whoo Hydrating Emulsion and Hydrating Balancer Samples

There are always some samples in this box and they are usually sizes that can be used 2-3 times compared to that of a luxury brand. I'm not familiar with The History of Whoo but the two products sent are a hydrating balancer and a hydrating emulsion. The balancer is meant to be used first, after cleansing and is a thin toner-like product. After that, I followed up with the emulsion which the pamphlet says to use as a moisturizer. It definitely made my face feel incredibly nice afterward. K-Beauty knows what's up!

Verdict: This month's K-Beauty Box didn't delight me as much as last month, but I was still able to try out Korean brands that were new to me while getting what seems like four-five full-size products. The lip scrub and mask were my favorites from this box, as well as the aloe which surprised me. I wasn't able to find all of the products online from places that weren't eBay or Amazon (which can be hit or miss with beauty). I still feel pretty satisfied with what I got for a $29.95 cost though.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? It's unclear if you'll get the same box that I did. Best to reach out to their customer service if you have questions.
