The Crafter’s Box – Should We Review It?

The Crafter's Box is a monthly maker subscription box:

As a member of The Crafter’s Box, we’ll send a lovingly kitted box of tools + materials to your doorstep on a monthly basis. Each month we feature a new expert maker and that maker has built for us a unique, grown-up, on-trend project that reflects their artistic style. In addition to the monthly box, our featured maker has created an educational, digital workshop to teach their crafting medium and to offer their tips + tricks.

The best part of this model is the ability to revisit workshops in the future to create again and again. Happy making!

FYI - We did review this box a few years ago but want to know if you're interested in an updated look at this subscription.

The Crafter's Box offers three different subscription option:

Yes please.

Does anybody know if they post spoilers prior to the months enrollment period so we can skip that months craft if we want?

I’m mostly interested in learning needle point & crafts that are usable like the needle point wallet crafters box from a past review. I’m also interested in learning to crochet with everyday usable patterns as well. can anybody please suggest specific subscriptions for those two types of crafts?

Thank you.

I would like to see it reviewed. I looked back through some of the projects that you reviewed from this sub and they all looked intriguing. Some looked a bit on the hard side though. Is it possible to know what the project is and skip if you want before billing/skipping?

Yes please, it looks very interesting and I would value your take on it!

Yes, please! It’s a bit pricier than I would typically spend on a craft box but I could be convinced if the reviews show it’s worth it.

I’ll add that $20/month for the instructional video seems very expensive to me, especially considering the number of crafts I’ve learned through inexpensive books and free online tutorials.

I second this. I want to want it, but I’d need proof that a box contains items valued at more than $65. And I agree that $20 for a class without supplies seems steep.

Although it may be a bit too pricey for me, I’d love to see it reviewed. If it’s super impressive I might just have to swap out some of my beauty boxes for it!

Yes, please! I love the reviews of crafty boxes. Even though I can’t generally justify the cost, it’s really cool to see what comes out of them.

Yes, yes, yes! This is a stunning box. I’ve purchased a couple of them before. In my experience, this is a true box for adults, not kids, both in terms of the complexity and sophistication of the projects. You craft things you would actually want and be proud of having in your house.

It is not an easy Pinterest “crafts for the sake of crafts” (where the end project is not something that I’d want in my house) or a box where they simply have you glue 2 pieces of wood together and tack on some fake flowers so that there is some “crafty” element in an otherwise oreassembled project.

My favorite box was the one for the stenciled linen blanket (MSA review https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2017/07/the-crafters-box-subscription-review-july-2017.html). It’s definitely worth the money if you can afford it!

In my experience, these are not crafts where you can find the instructions on the web, figure out the right set of supplies, and wander around Michael’s buying everything at a discount. These kits (unlike almost every other craft sub I’ve seen except for Xoxkit), are worth it – at least for the ones in the $65-75 range. I can’t speak to the few that are far above that.

For $65, I want to know exactly what the project is before I pay for it. You can review if you want, but I can wander around Michaels and pick myself a project that appeals to me plus the needed tools for less than $65 (even without their perennial coupon). People with more disposable income may enjoy this.

I found one of these boxes at my goodwill and it was an embroidery kit and it was so beautiful and great quality! Definitely would love to see more reviews on this box so I can decide if I want to get it. 🙂
