Stitch Fix Kids October 2019 Review

In our Stitch Fix Kids box, we received this cute sticker sheet.

This is the invoice that was sent with the Fix. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $242, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $161.50. That's a savings of $80.50 on this box!

This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a note from her stylist. It looks like she has a different stylist this month and while I love her previous stylist, I think that her new stylist did a great job, too, so I can't be too upset! She even mentioned that she was sending a mustard yellow top in case we didn't find any items for our family photos yet, which is something I had requested in last month's fix and I found that to be incredibly thoughtful!

Louisa Bootie by MIA Kids, Size 1Y - Cost to Keep $36.00

These booties were cute and exactly what I'm looking for Liv to have this fall season. They are a great color and neutral enough to go with most outfits and the cost is much more affordable than last month's pair. She liked them and while they fit her without socks on, she claims they were too tight with her socks on. They seemed like they fit her okay at the toes, but she is usually not one to complain about shoes, so if she says they felt too tight, I'll have to believe her! She does have very wide feet, so that may be the issue.

Nora Ruched Ankle Legging by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $12.00

These leggings are a great choice! They are a nice navy color that pairs well with a lot of different tops or dresses and that fun ruching detail at the bottom makes them just a bit cuter than your average leggings. The quality is average, nothing spectacular, but the price point isn't bad.

Mindy Tie-Sleeve Dress by Violet & Roses, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $28.00

This first dress pairs well with the leggings and the booties and altogether it made for a cute, age-appropriate outfit that I thought would be comfortable. Liv did say that the dress was itchy for her though. I love the colors and the pretty floral pattern. Those bell sleeves were fun too with the lace-up section and it seemed to fit her well!

Here you can see the booties and a closeup of that cute ruching detail on the bottom of the leggings.

Gale Swing Dress by Nine One Eight, Size S - Cost to Keep $18.00

This dress was fine, but nothing too exciting for us. I liked the soft material and the simplicity of it, but it's not as fun as some of the other pieces they sent which I think is reflected in the cost to keep this one. It fit her well and is another great transitional piece since she can add a cardigan over it and leggings underneath when it's cooler.

Margo Waterfall Cardigan by Mimic, Size 6X - Cost to Keep $24.00

This cardigan was actually one of her favorite items this month which was a surprise to me! I think this is a great basic staple piece, so I was pleased that she liked it. The waterfall style of the front is really fun and the sleeves have a tighter elastic cuff with a hole cut out for the thumbs so it will be a nice one to wear under her winter coat without having the sleeves ride up on her!

Janie Denim Shirt Dress by Mia Chica, Size S - Cost to Keep $24.00

This dress was my favorite item in her Fix, but unfortunately, it isn't really Liv's style. It is the cutest dress with the cinched waist and sleeves that roll up. I thought it was pretty cute on her, too, but she was not convinced. I guess it's a little bit too casual for her girly-girl style! If I had my way, she would be keeping this one and wearing it all the time, but she dresses herself now so I know it would just sit in her closet unworn.

Cheryl Cuff Skinny Jean by Imperial Star, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $32.00

These jeans were cute and the detail on the cuffs was really pretty. I think this is one of those items that would look great on an actual 7-year-old, but since she is so tall and skinny, the fun cuffed detail didn't look as great since they were very baggy on her. They did feature an adjustable waistband so that we could tighten them at the waist, but they were still pretty baggy on her especially for skinny jeans!

Marbella Lace Detail Top by Love, Alexa, Size S - Cost to Keep $22.00

This was my favorite top that she received this month. I love the floral pattern, the little ruffle at the sleeves and the cute lace collar. The colors are also nice and even though it was a tad big on her, I think it still worked. She wasn't as big of a fan for some reason, I think because she thought it was a dress when she first saw it in the box. How cute would this be as a dress?

Here is the floral top paired with the black cardigan. You can see the thumb holes in the cardigan in the last photo.

Jacki Ruffle Detail Top by Andy & Evan, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $22.00

This is the top that her stylist included since I had previously asked for mustard tops for our upcoming family photos. This one was cute and I liked the ruffles, but it was very big and baggy on her. While I'm happy she sent us a mustard-colored top, this one isn't quite our style. It is nicely made and the details are fun though.

Tammy 1/4 Zip Fuzzy Pullover by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $24.00

This last item is really fun and a bit ridiculous, but Liv loved it because it was pink (more of a mauve, I guess) and incredibly cozy and warm. Really, this thing is so soft - it's like she's wearing a teddy bear! I think it's a fun hoodie that she will definitely be able to wear next season, too, since it's so large. Since the sleeves have elastic cuffs at the end, it fits her well now and the sleeves stay up, although she loves pulling them down to stay cozy. I like the 1/4 zip detail, the cute bow at the waist and that it has a huge comfy hood as well as a front pocket. While the bottom does have an elastic band in it, the bow is merely decorative. This is another fun and very age-appropriate item that we liked a lot!

The Verdict:  This month's selection of items from Stitch Fix Kids was pretty great! Even though this is a new stylist for Liv, I think that she did a great job of matching her style. As usual, there were some sizing issues, but this happens to us everywhere we shop thanks to my five-year-old's height! I also thought it was great that she tried to send items that we had requested from her previous stylist and that she sent some boots that were more affordable. These were great transition pieces for fall and I am happy, although I really do wish that they would send fewer items because 10 just feels excessive at times! I enjoy the convenience of this service and Liv really enjoys the surprise factor, so it was definitely worth the $20 styling fee for us.

Value Breakdown: This styling service cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $242.00. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the Fix is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $161.50. That’s a discount of around 33% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

you can tell your daughter that i am 43, and thumb hole sleeves and fuzzy plush pullovers are two of my favorite things, too. 😊
