Saltwater & Sand Fall 2019 Review

Their info card has a list of our items on the back and loads of info.

The Beach People Linen Napkins, set of 4 - Retail Value $45.00

Oh, these are fancy lady napkins. I am not a fancy lady, but I do enjoy pretending to be one especially when I have company over. I really, really love linen. My favorite sheets are linen! It only gets better looking with age and wear, much like leather, or Idris Elba. While 4 napkins are likely not enough to set an entire table most of the time, I do like keeping beautiful textiles on hand to wrap up warm bread or drape over hot dishes to keep them nice and warm. On a purely sentimental note, my Nana has a similar (although much, much older!) set of linen napkin that belonged to her grandmother. I like that I have a smaller set now for myself.

The Beach People Linen Coasters, set of 4 - Retail Value $29.00 (currently on sale for $14.50)

These French linen coasters were a nice complement to the napkins above. I love that delicate blue stripe! There is something very minimal about these coasters that would work really well in my home, and especially on my coffee table. They are rustic, but still refined, textured, but simple. They were also designed in a layered sort of finish that should absorb all the errant liquids and protect my furniture.

Sea Salt Caramel Sauce by Mouth Party, 12 oz- Retail Value $9.50

I freaking ADORE caramel, and add in some sea salt? Irresistible. I had plans to actually use this sauce with something exciting, like brownies, or an apple crumble, but the second I tasted it I knew it wouldn't last that long. After you leave it in the fridge overnight it thickens into something perfect to enjoy with just a spoon! The mix of sweet and salty is pure heaven, and this caramel is so smooth. Between Will and I, this didn't last very long, even when we enjoyed one spoonful at a time.

Sea Salt Spa Soap by Belham & Co, 4 oz - Retail Value $8.00

We love handmade bar soap in my home, and this has the most amazing salty fragrance. It was named well because it does smell like something that would be used in a very upscale seaside spa. It lathers up beautifully and is very fragrant even in the shower. It has purifying sea salt blended with shea and coconut oil for a super cleansing but still moisturizing finish.

Jack & Ginger Moonstone Bracelet

Isn't the combo of gold and moonstone so pretty? I love the twinkle that is contained in these faceted beads. The bracelet is also 14k gold filled which is why the metal has such a rich luster. I really like how delicate this piece is and the lovely irregularities of the stones. Each one is just a little different, making them feel very natural and special.

Oyster Candles from the Oyster Candle Co - Retail Value $20.00

Wow, this is a first! I have never, ever, gotten anything even remotely close to these candles in any box. This trio of candles all sits in oyster shells recycled from Charleston, SC restaurants. Each has a thoughtfully-glued rope base for safety and stability, and they are all scented with a fruity champagne fragrance. I am so ticked at how well these fit the overall beachy, ocean theme of this box, and really impressed they included something I have never seen before.

Moroccan Wedding Basket

WOW. I was beyond excited when I first saw this inside the puter box. I am a basket enthusiast and I have an ever-growing collection from shopping on my own and from subscription boxes. This is by far the most exquisite one I now own. At around 10 inches across and 13 inches tall, it is also substantial. It would be perfect for collecting your knitting projects, holding a fiddle leaf fig, or just being displayed alone so its beauty and craftsmanship can be appreciated. I have seen slightly similar baskets before, but they always felt flimsy and cheap. The inside is a strong braided jute material that extends to the base, giving this basket extra sturdiness.

Verdict: I was pretty impressed with my first Saltwater & Sand box. It certainly felt like a luxury box and I was taken by the variety of well-curated products. Between the linen, seashells, and woven basket, I felt like all of these items totally belonged in an expensive beach home or bed and breakfast. The soap, bracelet, and caramel were all wonderful additions as well, and came together with the rest to make a very well-rounded and cohesive ocean-inspired experience. This is certainly not an inexpensive box, but if you are looking for a quarterly luxury splurge that will take your mindset straight to the sea, this is one you should absolutely try. The quality of the included items seems well worth the cost!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I sub to Saltwater and Sand. This was my second shipment and I absolutely love everything that I received. This Moroccan wedding basket is gorgeous in person and currently holds two 60×70 throw blankets next to our fireplace. It might seem a bit pricey to some, but if you check out these types of baskets at West Elm, you will find just how much they can cost. Add in the remaining items and you are well over the cost of the box. Now that the cold weather is upon us, it’s nice to bring our senses to the serenity of the ocean and all the peace it encompasses.

I’m sorry but if I spent that much for this box I would be very disappointed. $45 for linen napkins? whoa

This is such a cool box! I am going to see if I can buy that basket and the candles on my own since I don’t get this box. Unless it’s not too late to still get the box. That would be great! I think I am going to have to subscribe to this one. I loved everything in the box!

Let me know if you find the basket. I spent a ton of time searching and couldn’t!

Joy, if you find the basket anywhere let me know. I haven’t been able to find one close to it!

Great review! Such a pretty sub box. Love the basket and the bracelet. But not for $134.00 😳.

I love this box. I cant afford it, but I love it. I may get the oyster candles. They have many scents that have me tempted to get a few other candles as well.

Thank you for the review!

Great review but I come from a beach area and know what they charge in the fancy gift shops. If you absolutely adore every single item it’s worth it. Otherwise do your own shopping

What brand are your linen sheets? I’ve been wanting to get a set, but since they are so expensive I’m concerned about getting ones that are good quality. TIA 😊

Omg, I would love love love to have that bracelet! *swoon*

Those oyster candles are SUCH a fun and unique idea for a sub box item. But then I scrolled to the price of the box and I was legit shocked!

Guess I’ll just enjoy the reviews 🙂

Megan, I started reading this review with great interest because when you said” Saltwater & Sand is a quarterly subscription box for women delivering a little saltwater and sand to you…”, I thought they ACTUALLY send you sand and saltwater. 😂 A friend of mine gifted me tiny glass vials with beach water and sand from a tropical island I visited so I guess it’s been done before. 😊

This box is too expensive for me but curation is well done. I’d consider it at a lower—much lower—price. Thanks for the nice review.

I thought the same thing. “who wants a box of sand and water?” Hahahaha

Haha! Can you even imagine? It reminds me of my Henny & Roo Chicken Box review where someone thought it was a box of fried chicken 😂

I’m intrigued by this box! I’m looking forward to seeing future reviews.

Wow I love everything and anything beach related but heck no way is this box worth the price imo! Glad you liked it but no way and I can afford it.

Thank you, Megan, for the great review. I am impressed with this box. The value, workmanship, and curation seem very well thought out. I just can’t see myself paying this cost (although it seems to be worth the $$).

It is one of those splurges for sure, but maybe great for a treat yourself month 🙂

I sub to this box and loved it. Note there’s no beauty. The basket is maybe the highest quality basket I’ve ever seen. The little bracelet is not gold plated. It’s pricey, but the curation is great. IMHO.

I have to say WHAAAAT on the linen items…. anyone with a sewing machine or a pair of scissors can make those for a lot less. The candles look like something you would find at any shop along the beach, minus the cheap plastic wrap and generic price sticker.

I’m kind of disappointed in this review

Megan K.

I kind of get what you are saying, but I don’t have a sewing machine and I know French linen is expensive, even in just cut from the bolt form. I also haven’t made it to the beach in almost 10 years so this was a wee bit cheaper than a vacation 😂

I agree~ I only liked the bracelet out of the entire box!
