Look Fantastic October 2019 "The Cosmic Edition" Review

Each box comes with a booklet that includes product information and tips for how to use what you got.

I love keeping Look Fantastic boxes around to store makeup, jewelry, and other important things, because they are always so sturdy and beautiful.

Now, on to the items!

Look Good Feel Better Angled Blending Brush - Retail Value $9.20

Look Good Feel Better is an organization dedicated to helping cancer patients with beauty, hair, skincare, and style routines while they are going through life-changing treatments. I was a little surprised that they didn't have any info about this organization in our booklet, but here is info from the organization's website:

Look Good Feel Better is a non-medical, brand-neutral public service program that teaches beauty techniques to people with cancer to help them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. The program includes lessons on skin and nail care, cosmetics, wigs and turbans, accessories and styling, helping people with cancer to find some normalcy in a life that is by no means normal.

I think it is great that something like this was included, especially since I had never heard of this organization before. The brush itself is pretty great, a nice little fluffy angled addition to my eyeshadow brush collection with an awesome message behind it. If you want more info on this group, or if you are a beauty professional who might want to look into volunteering some of your time and expertise, click here to learn more!

Oh K! Chok Chok Holographic Fibre Face Mask - Retail Value $13.20

Ahh, I love a sheet mask. I haven't really had much luck with the holographic ones though, as they are often thick and stiff, and really don't cling to my face all that well. This one was a slightly better fit than usual, though for a $13 mask I still expect more. This one was full of hyaluronic acid which gave my skin an instant moisture boost, and it had a nice citrus scent.

EOS Lip Balm, 7 g - Full Size! Retail Value $4.99

This lip balm is so cool looking! Since it is beeswax-free, it has the benefit of being gorgeous to look at and also vegan-friendly. Though it is not as creamy as other out there, I rather liked the thin and hydrating finish and found it very pleasant on my lips.

theBalm Eyeshadow in 'Red Handed', 1.2 g

This rosy-bronze shadow is so smooth and richly pigmented. It takes very little to get great lid coverage and if you want more drama, boy, is it buildable! I tend to really like warmer shades like this, especially in the fall and found it worked well for day or night. It also was very lovely when used wet as a liner.

Very pretty, indeed!

Wet Brush Mini Detangler Brush - Retail Value $5.99 (currently on sale for $4.79)

This brush is pretty cute, though I need more size and power to deal with the unruly mess I call hair. You can use this wet or dry, though this brand's claim to fame is brushing while wet in the shower or bath. I rather like the turquoise color with the cute gold metallic splatter.

Polaar The Genuine Lapland Hand Cream, 25 ml - Estimated Value $7.03 (Buy a full-size 75 ml for $21.10)

Finally, our last product is a hand cream that I am really loving! It smells really great and feels like velvet on my hands. This is the sort of cream I can see myself using with overnight hand gloves in winter. It immediately improved the smoothness of my hands and absorbed easily without leaving any greasiness or film behind.

Here's the latest issue of Elle UK Magazine, which was included in this box:

The Verdict: Look Fantastic Beauty Box has a value of at least $40 this month without the eyeshadow (couldn't find its retail) or the magazine. This is actually pretty low for this box, and with a lot of that value tied up in a single face mask, I feel like there could have been a WOW product this month that just wasn't there. The assortment was still undeniably useful and actually pretty practical, so I am not too bothered, but hopefully next month is more of a wow.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! (This page will let you know which box is currently available.)

Value Breakdown: At $19 for this box, each of the 6 items (not including the magazine) has an average cost of $3.17.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I got the eyeshadow in Take it for Granite and I love it. The Wet brush will be handy for the gym and pool. I can always use an eyeshadow brush — especially for a good cause. Same with a quality hand cream.

The mask was my favorite product. I found it for $2.99 at Meijer; you can also get it from CVS for around that price. I am not sure how this is valued at $13 in the box, though. I don’t normally like sheet masks, but I have already bought 5 more.

The EOS was absolutely terrible and the only downer in the box.

I like most EOS products but that crystal lip balm is the worst. I found it incredibly drying on my lips. I would put it on only to find I needed more in a matter of minutes. I threw it out once I realized my lips were starting to chap as well. I didn’t find it hydrating at all!

This is my least favorite box in 2 years of subscribing. Other than the Avant item that I got instead of shadow, I won’t use anything.

I subbed annually so I pay $16 a month but for once, I don’t think it was worth even that. Luckily they are usually great.

I signed up for a box and shipping is no longer free. $6 shipping, so maybe not worth the $25/month imo

Was the eye shadow supposed to be in all the boxes? There wasn’t one in my box☹️.

Same here… I didn’t get the eyeshadow either… I got the Avant sample which im not complaining about.

I also got the Avant. When I saw the shadow i had to do a double take because I didn’t remember getting one. I went and pulled out my magazine and sure enough i had Avant listed instead.

My magazine had 3 alternates of the Balm products listed, but I assumed each was the small size I am used to getting in boxes, so when I got the Avant sample size instead I was thrilled. That teeny sample of cream is worth about $30!

I wasn’t aware of variations, but perhaps this was one?

I also didn’t get the shadow, but got the Avant night cream instead. This was a nice surprise for me since I love trying new creams, and don’t wear shadow.

Same! Instead I got a tiny Avant sample (which is totally fine – I’ll use it), but I was also looking forward to the shadow.

Glad I skipped this month. Not really feeling any of these products. Hopefully next month brings me back. I ended up skipping BeautyFix too

I have a genuine question. In forums and such, people often sing the praises of Look Fantastic, while Glossybox (which I consider to be a comparable box – both from UK, Glossy is only $2 more expensive) has sooooo many haters.

Why?

While I don’t think LF is terrible by any means, the products Glossy offers seem at the very least to be on par with LF’s products. Someone please explain the hate for Glossy and the love for LF!

Luna

I agree with you. I’ve always felt both boxes were sort of one in the same… but maybe with LF’s products being a skotch better than GB’s. I think I’ve been lucky enough to have received decent CS from both companies.

SquirrelyGirl

I’ve also received decent CS from Glossy but I have only bought several of their 1 time boxes (like holiday edition, mother’s day box etc)

Helen

Customer service is abominable. From unhelpful to downright rude, Glossybox’s employees just don’t care and that translates to unhappy customers.
