I am happy you are happy! To each, their own. I am not a fan of the Hut group. I realized that their boxes typically contain to “real brands” and the rest are private labeled products, mass purchases in China to fluff out the box.
They own over 100 website brands (public information) they private label a line, put up a website, put the products in their boxes and sell it to other sub boxes. This is a huge money maker and we are literally paying for them for the privilege of advertising to us and building their brand. Quite genius but the difference between this $21 box and a $25 boxycharm is not even comparable.
The Hut group operates these “independent” brands from one huge warehouse at an international English airport (public record) in order to facilitate the deliveries from the private label factories. They also acquire smaller brands and I suspect, but do not have knowledge of, that they then change the manufacturing to be similar to their other products. They are like the puppy mill of the cosmetics industry. Keep the squired brand name, outsource the manufacturing and pump their products through boxes, that we pay for.
Once I did a little research, I thought it was wrong to give these people my money, so I no longer do. Lots of people still sub because the last recorded revenue was 916 million pounds in 2018.
What’s the big deal? Morphe boxes come from morphe. Sephora has play and include the Sephora line. The big deal is that we know up front that we are buying a brand box from a brand company, they don’t hide their ownership or supplement their boxes with non brands. And a case could be made that those boxes are higher quality, and specifically formulated rather than rely on a factories standard formulas with different labels.
So many time negative comments are because people know things, do research in what they are putting on their skin, have had prior bad experiences with a company. Etc. Lately Ipsy has struggled with the private label backlash as well.
Not everyone who posts a negative comment is entitled, trying to be a downer, or a jerk. When people have negative experiences, they may be sharing them to be helpful. And it’s okay for you to love the box and someone not to. That’s why there are so many boxes, one for everyone and their cat… or dog.
