Kyut Box October 2019 Review

Kyut Box comes with an info card that has the theme (Falling For You) on one side, and a rundown of the included items on the other.

Hydrabotanica Sahara Mist Essense Spray, 4 oz. - Retail Value $35.00

I thought this was going to be more like a toner, but it is more like a spray serum since it's moisturizing and slightly thicker than a toner mist. It has a light floral scent to it and does make my skin feel soft. My only qualm is that the spray is not fine enough. It is sort of heavy and I squirted it pretty intensely into my face which was a bit overwhelming. While I think this is a decent product, something as simple as the mist can make or break this.

Medusa's Make-Up Disco Queen Sparkle Lip Gloss - Retail Value $11.95

I'm surprised to see Medusa's Make-Up in here since they have their own beauty box, but they make really fun stuff so I'll happily take it. It's hard to see how really iridescent this gloss is in the swatch photo but it's quite magical. This can be worn alone since it's sheer with a ton of sparkle, but it can also be a topper on a bright matte lipstick to bring it up a notch. It also smells like a cupcake or something so that's pretty neat.

SF Glow Eye Woke Up Like This Eye Mask - Retail Value $4.00

When I first saw that this was a "gold foil eye mask" I got excited because I thought it was a gold leaf peel off situation, but it is simply a serum-soaked eye patch sheet mask that has a gold leaf decorative leopard print design. I wasn't sure if I was putting the right side against my skin, but after looking at their website I confirmed it was the correct way. There was a thick serum on these masks and after taking it off, they did make the skin under my eyes super soft.

SF Glow Sun's Out, Pouts Out Lip Mask - Retail Value $4.00

This mask is the same as the eye one but for my lips. These types of lip sheet masks always kinda feel like they're more of a chin mask since they're so comically large and don't really cover the bulk of the mouth, IMO. After taking it off, there was a ton of serum left that didn't taste so great so I'm not really into something like this although it makes for a fun pic.

Kismet Cosmetics Crush No Mess Bamboo Body Scrub, 5.5 oz. - Retail Value $20.00

The final item in this month's box is a body scrub from Kismet. It smells like mint chocolate chip ice cream and has a similar pale green shade. This scrub is kind of perfect, to be honest. It has a fine grit to it that sticks together really well so it isn't too dry and crumbly like some scrubs. It also doesn't contain so much oil that it leaves my bathtub dangerously slick. I used this all over my body to gently exfoliate and my skin felt fantastic afterward. The peppermint also helped clear my sinuses in the shower since I've been a little sick this week. Big fan of this one!

Verdict: This month's Kyut Box was a little hit and miss for me, but overall they sent five items that were fun to use with brands that were new to me (except for Medusa's Make-Up). It's, of course, great to know that everything here is cruelty-free and vegan while donating to a good animal cause. The scrub and lip gloss were prob my faves this time around. The total retail for this box hits $74.95 which is not too shabby for a $30 box.

I still have not heard back from Kyut Box about my subscription. I joined from the link here and my card was charged on October 4. I see my payment on their website, and it says “unfulfilled.” My credit card shows that the charge did go through on October 4. I emailed them 4 days ago and I have left several messages on their Facebook page. I have been a subscription addict for years now, and have never had this happen! I sent them another email today. I guess my next step is to contact my bank. I hate to do that, because I love cruelty-free, vegan products, but I have now sent 2 emails to the support email address they have listed on their site, plus Facebook. Should I wait longer to contact my bank? I feel completely ignored by them.

Still no reply from Kyut, and no box. I would caution anyone who is considering this box that they might just keep your money and send you nothing, which is becoming increasingly likely to have happened to me.

I think that this box will need to step it up a bit with the new Petit Vour plus box that was just announced. It’s $5 less with 5-7 items and has a promised value of over $100. However, I am always thrilled when subs are CF and ingredient conscious and that scrub sounds quite nice

I subscribed to this (from last month’s review here) on Oct. 4. I saw a post about this month’s box on Facebook, so I searched my email to see if I somehow missed a shipping confirmation. Nope. I checked my bank account and the payment did go through. I logged into my account and it shows my payment but says “unfulfilled” for my box. My email to their support yesterday morning has not been answered, nor has my comment on their FB page.

I’m not sure what’s going on with my subscription. I joined last month and requested to receive the box last reviewed on MSA even though I was technically too late. They granted my wish and I received my box soon after. I mentioned when I first ordered that I knew they’d probably charge me again quite soon for the next box and that I understood that. However, they haven’t charged me and when I go to the website it won’t even let me click on that account button. Nothing happens at all. I even tried accessing it through the FAQ’s where you can sometimes find a link on smaller businesses websites that don’t have have top notch IT. That didn’t work either. So now I’m not sure what to think. Quite honestly I don’t mind if I don’t receive the box reviewed here. It’s rather disappointing compared to last month and considering the value. Like someone else mentioned, the new Petit Vour Plus subscription might be a better way to go for this particular type of box. I’ll wait a bit longer and if I don’t hear anything or get charged and still can’t log in I guess I’ll just email them to cancel IF I am even subscribed. Maybe they sold me that box as a one-off? If so I certainly appreciate it and their willingness to accommodate my request even without the future income from me. Especially since I used a nice discount code from MSA and only paid around $22 if I remember correctly.

I would like to see their box succeed though. Perhaps they’re still working out some kinks since it’s a new subscription. Hopefully next month’s box will be better. I wouldn’t mind being a subscriber if it’s worth the cost at least most of the time.

New Petit Vour Plus? I’m in! I hope that I will get a response from Kyut, and either get the box or my money back. I would like to see them succeed also, but I can’t just be sending money and getting no box and no communication!

Agree. Seems a little overpriced for what you got.

I’m definitely going to follow any reviews on this box, so thanks! But it would definitely probably be more of a miss for me. Two of the items are one-time use. I totally agree with those lip masks… so large and for me, usually seem messy. I could probably compensate somewhat with Hydrabotanica Sahara Mist Essense Spray, though the spray feature is what makes it simple and quick to use, though a bummer if it comes out not like a mist at all. If I had this box, that would probably be my favorite item. I do agree it is a little odd/different that Medusa’s is in there. Overall, I’ll keep an eye on this box. I’m mostly into skincare boxes now, but a little makeup now and again isn’t so bad. Hope the next box is more of an improvement.
