The Clean Beauty Box October/November 2019 "Transform" Review

Each month, The Clean Beauty Box features an artist to design their box and info booklet. For October/November they got Myriam Van Neste to illustrate the "Transform" theme with pink and chartreuse florals.

This box has two items from two brands I'm already familiar with and like: Flower and Spice and Henne Organics.

Flower and Spice Instant Glow Calming Exfoliator, 4 oz. - Retail Value $97.00

I didn't know what to expect from this pricey jar of exfoliator but a gritty, heavy cream consistency was last on the list. I don't mean that in a bad way at all. I found it really fun to dunk a few fingers in to retrieve an amount that I felt was sufficient to slather onto my dry face. I continued to massage in circular motions for about a minute, as directed. I then let it sit for another minute and watched it slowly sort of absorb into my skin and become less apparent. After the minute was up, I rinsed my face with warm water which took a few splashes to remove the grit. Scrubbies aside, this is still a really gentle treatment that is unlike any other. I've used this a few times now and my face feels really clean afterward without feeling dried out. The fennel and lavender are very apparent but have grown on me and the bamboo extract and AHA fruit acids elevate this product. I can tell already that using this a couple of times a week will be beneficial for my skin routine.

Henne Organics Lip Serum, 0.35 oz. - Retail Value $45.00

It's no secret that I love lip products. The booklet describes this lip serum from Henne as the "Rolls Royce of lip serums" and I have to agree as I glide the 24k gold plated rollerball across my kisser. It contains arctic cloudberry seed oil (uh, what? that sounds cool), lingonberry seed oil, camellia seed oil, and argan oil along with other players like apricot, jojoba, pomegranate, passionfruit, and vitamin E. I've been obsessively applying this to my lips (probably not recommended) all day because I love the cool feel of the roller with the soft oil against my lips. The directions also suggest waiting a few minutes to allow the serum to absorb before adding lipstick, so this is a great pregame to any hue. The serum isn't as heavy as a balm so if you like a delicate touch, this is a great option to soften, protect, and minimize lines.

Verdict: The Clean Beauty Box really impressed me this month with two products that were new to me from brands I know. I really enjoy using the exfoliator that has the perfect amount of grit and the lip serum makes me feel ultra-fancy. These two have an incredible value of $143 which is over a 70% discount. This subscription is simply a wonderful way to try high-end clean beauty without the high-end price tag.

I love love love Flower and Spice. Their moisturizer is incredible. I received it in a boxwalla box and it’s a solid brand.

I was eagerly waiting to see what Marne said about this box! I actually received it a few days ago, and I am loving both products. My face felt so smooth and wonderful after using that exfoliater!

I’m a major lip product junkie too. I was so tempted to get this box for that reason. I decided not to because I prefer liquid, no-scrubbie exfoliates and I detest the a strong smell of lavender. I didn’t think I would enjoy the fennel scent either. So I’m actually relieved to find out it did indeed have a strong smell. That lip oil sounds great but it definitely wouldn’t have been worth it coupled with that exfoliator.
